Tommy Barbarella or Renato Neto

Aint't no competition in my opinion but I think Renato is far superior on Prince albums than Barbarella. Renato's sound is much clearer and he plays better. I always thought Barbarella had a mushy sound. The songs sound alot better. Anyone agree?

i think renato has more trained skill, but i think tommy b. has more of a garage band approach, which i prefer because it's rawer. i can appreciate renato's skill and i think he's one of the most sophisticated musicians prince has had in the band...but i also think renato brings a cloying "lite jazz" sound to prince's music which i have to be honest, gets on my nerves more often than not. mad

so anyway, my answer: DR. FINK!!! woot!

Never impressed by Barbarella, but Fink was great. Neto is probably the best of all though - something very cool about his style.

absolutely agree...Renato is more apt for Princes style these days...but I'm not convinced he could bring the funk like Fink could...

Tommy was more in there for image, androgynous quiet white boy at odds with the street funky brothas. He rarely got a chance to solo even, so Renato for talent but the 93-96 NPG kick the ass of any band since.
