There are beautiful songs on P.E. and Somewhere here on Earth is definetly one of them. [Edited 11/5/07 5:47am] The truth hurts

Definitely an important part of a well balanced breakfast. Me too....it makes me grin my head off like an idiot every morning in the car .... I saw him sing a lot of these songs at an Aftershow in Indigo2, it was AMAZING, and it takes me right back there every time - I LOVE it, more every time I listen!

We all know how bad the lyrics to Resolution are, but it doesnt stop there - Mr Goodnight is probably a 3121 reject, and it is STUUUUPID! Somewhere here on earth is dumb fluff with an embarrasing sound clip of an old record being played at the start. The 1 you wanna C gets lots of love round here, but its a throw away, bad produced half assed and really badly sung song. planet earth has the cheesy could it be magic ruining it, Guitar is booooring. chelsea rodgers isnt prince singing and is really repetitive song which goes no where. All the midnights sounds like a drunk retard - I could go on... After the progress of musicology and 3121, this is a real let down. Some of the other records which people usually consider "crap", like NPS, Emancipation, Rave, Chaos, News, etc I always found some songs which were worth listening to on these, but PE has NOTHING worth listening to. Thats why I think it will go down as his worst.. I can’t believe you took your time to explain why those tracks are rubbish ... THE WHOLE ALBUM IS JUST RUBBISH TO ME! ... do you remember the tours that Prince focused on the song of his latest album? Why didn’t he play much of the PE songs during the London gigs? Because they’re rubbish! I know, and Prince knows!

He probably tried an experiment to see what level of ribbish he could get away with releasing. Anyway, doesnt matter what I say, there are a lot of people on this thread defending it for some reason.

You call Musicology and 3121 "progress"????
As far as i'm concerned The Rainbow Children is the only "good" album he's done in probably close to 10 years. He sounds like a spoof of himself now, and it's embarassing. I wish he'd stop trying to figure out how to get back to the top of the charts and just make music again. http://www.facebook.com/p...111?ref=ts

I like it, it was bold of him to put together an album that COMPLETELY seperated itself from all the new artists he is compared to. Like timberlake/timbaland, Neptunes, Outkast, etc.
But "Resolution" does have lyrics that I won't play for my friends! My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

Worst ever?!
That's a little harsh, don't you think? I mean, it only come out a couple of months. sigh, I guess this will come around when the next album comes out. The same people who hate PE with a passion will see the good in it because they don't like what Prince will do in the next album. Is there no ending to this madness? People, stop creating "PE-hate" threads, I'm begging you If I didn't know any better, this madness is starting to corrupt me, who loved the album from the start. But that's not what's important here. Feels like the same people posting their complaints in whatever ways possible. Sorry Prince, you just can't please everybody. And actually, in cases like these, it's good that you really don't come here. But just in case you're watching: Don't let the hate dictate your next move. You do whatever feels right to you and don't let anyone here tell you others Planet Earth is still in my Top 6 albums. But I might have to shelve it for a while so it can perserve its place in my rankings. Do not want to have cycle round again like I did with 3121. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

But "Resolution" does have lyrics that I won't play for my friends! I like the album. I think it's a "miss", but I appreciate the fact that Prince isn't playing catchup to the music scene, etc. etc. Planet Earth doesn't sound like anything on the radio--which is why it wont get any radio play -- but it doesn't sound like any of Prince's previous albums either. It's Prince not trying to be his supposed competition, nor Prince trying to be Prince. I just wish the songs had more "Umph" to them, and the overall album had more spirit or WOW-OMG moments. Spoiled ass Prince fan that I am, i expect that.

No way. You can try to polish a turd (I suppose, I've never actually tried. lol) but at the end of the day it's still . Even Emancipation, my most despised and hated Prince album, has a few kick-ass songs; but Planet Earth has nothing redeeming. A few nice melodies (read: one) but overall it's completey forgettable. I like Mr. Goodnight, but I would never call it a hidden jem nor does it make up for the rest of the drivel on the album. His biggest throw-away album since Chaos & Disorder.

i highly doubt that ..even his albums that at 1st listen i may have not dug from the onset, but even those albums have at least half of the material 2 make me come around. PE is just plain horrendous. somewhere here on earth is my favorite and guitar a close 2nd. otherwise, there is nothing on this album that makes me jump 4 joy. FBM is just .. same goes 4 chelsea..in fact that track is laughable. all the midnights..please! hence the marketing of this album has been so damn lo-key compared 2 musicology and 3121. with those albums at least he was heading in the right direction man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

There's nothing wrong with liking any of those albums (I own all of them except for Emancipation, which im waiting to get my hands on in a month or two). NewPower Soul gets a bad rap... I'm not too into it myself. It'd rank lowest with what I have, but if you really like it, I say go for it! Every album needs a little bit of love from the fanbase. btw, it does have some good songs on there, but overally isnt very strong. Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic gives a lot of people a bad taste in their mouth. I spent a week with it because my first listen didn't go so well. Thought it was very bizarre and un-Prince-like... my opinion dramatically changed at the 2nd listen and so on. A little over-produced, but its a good album in its own right. 3121, loved it at first, then disliked it cuz it paled in comparsion to the other albums I had at the time. But lately, I've gotten to like it more. I say go with your tastes and don't let the others devalue you because they don't like your favorite albums. I agree, Prince of recent years does have his own charm, so I can't count him out completely. I always say "I'm not saying its [his music] greater or better than it used 2b, it's just someting else." And I like the something else it is had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone
