it is just too bad so many people cannot take the music at facevalue without being prejudiced of the fact he is young, cocky and used to be in a boyband.

Ummm, so because we don't like him or his music, that means we're prejudiced because he's an asshole who doesn't have an original bone in his body? Even if he wasn't a sappy boybander, I still would think he sucks.

Just because you like him, doesn't mean those of us who don't are wrong. I don't like his voice and I don't like his persona or looks. He FUUUUGLY!! Especially when he lets his pubes grow all down his neck, that's just disgusting. barf

Prince in the studio since 2000 is barely equal to a random Timbaland outtake. Planet Earth has nothing in the same stratosphere as the pop perfection of My Love, Sexyback, FS/LS, What Goes Around, Summer Love, Lovestoned...

Would be interesting if Timbaland gave Prince a whole album, then we might get somewhere. Of course Prince is a superior artist to JT, thats a given but material-wise theres no comparison at all.

Considering Timbaland has said that he keeps trying to imitate Prince's sound, but can't, we'd then get an album that is a poor imitation of Prince for Prince to use?? nuts

Let me go ahead and preface this by saying that I don't give a flying fuck if you like Planet Earth (the song) or not.

When ole Timberlake/Timbaland create a song like this give me call.

You can take your My Love, Sexyback, What Goes Around rubbish and listen to it till your little heart's content. I've heard shit like this a million times over.

I personally have never heard anything quite like The One U Wanna C. That's what I'll be listening to. flipped off

Don't forget Metallica and Beck, you moron!

I'm not gonna lie, I hate JT. I've been hatin since Justified.

When JT released Justified, I hated it more than anything. I've become the biggest JT hater.

But I didn't hate Justified because it was bad, I hated it because I liked it. I hated it because I expected MJ to do an album more or less like Justified.
Justified (which was blatantly influenced by Michael Jackson's early stuff) outshined Michael Jackson's last effort by miles. And it's painful to say that but that's the true.

Of course JT sucks, he's not talented, and he's not even an acceptable singer. This guy sucks.

But I'm not gonna lie. His music is definitely not bad. And I'm really feelin some of his stuff.

I was waiting for the next Prince album. And I'm not gonna lie, I downloaded it, and after taken one listen I deleted it.
I love Prince, but Future sex love sounds is better than Planet earth. And when I said future sex love songs is better, I don't mean JT is better than Prince. Of course he's not. What I said is Timbaland's work on Timberlake's effort is better than P on Planet Earth. And there's nothing wrong to admit that.

Justin will always be a piece of shit artist, but the production on his first two solos are very good.

I still don't have Planet Earth but I've heard each song on the album
and I think it's a great Prince album,I would never delete any P-album!

I do agree with all the the other things U say!
It seems everybody would love 2 hate him,but can't resist his
grooves/songs.Sure,without Timbaland and Pharrel his albums wouldn't
have been that good. They are the true superstars of this decade!

Some poeple, once again, told me JT's latest single Lovestoned(in Europe) sounds like Prince...I admit,if only Prince would have done this song!
Future sex/lovesounds is a hit album but I'm gonna enjoy Planet Earth
more because Prince's music is something U can enjoy over and over again.

Ummm..personally, I do listen to a lot of different artists, but I don't come on a Prince site to talk shit about him and push those other artists.

If I wasn't interested in P's current music, I wouldn't come here at all. Unlike you, who thinks that Prince is the worst person on the planet, but is so obsessed with Prince, he can't stay away. loser

Others, with more time on their hands, try and recreate that Prince sound and have been trying over the decades.. This is where we get to Future Sex/Lovesounds. This is definately a record that has successfully done it - ie recreate a perceived Prince sound. And for this, it sounds great. Its a great album on its own and should be remembered as such. But the so called Prince "sound" is a fallacy. He has so many facets to his sound, its just that we have a classic image of his sound. The Linn, the horns, the falsetto, the rythm guitar. Any uses of these instruments suddenly get the tag of "Prince sounding". So this is rather funny to me, when Prince doesnt even sound like classic Prince anymore, his old styles are so influentual that people are still trying to "do" Prince.

I thought this paragraph was spot-on. Very well put. Though to be fair, one of the guys trying to "do" Prince is Prince himself these days. I don't really mind it though, he really lost his way in the late 90s and sometimes the best way to get back on track is to work in idioms that were successful for you earlier before you kinda lost it.

That's why I think Prince "rediscovering the Linn" is a good thing as long as there are good songs behind it. The results have been encouraging.

Every word of what you just said is 100% on for me.
If I see JT, I hate him. If I hear his albums, I'm rooting for him as if it's a basketball game. 'Go on, son. Stick it in the net'
And on Justified he does it over and again.
Haven't heard FutureSex (because every time I think of checking it, there he is on TV again annoying me with his mere existence! lol)

Of course, I can totally see Prince through this same eye.
Lots of people have always been that way with him. 'Yeah..he's great but keep him outta my face'.

As for PE, well I played it with my girlfriend as we'd done last year with 3121 and it got to, like, Future Baby Momma before she said 'I really don't like Prince'. Last year she was saying 'This is good!'
I took the record off right there and thought 'I'll have a proper listen later' but when it came to it, I couldn't even get as far as that track on a full listen and, skipping through, concluded that it WAS, after all the fuss, just another throwaway 'coaster-freebie' from the Mail on Sunday (3 million sold, 30 played all the way through)

I said on another thread that Prince needs to listen to more White Stripes and less Beyonce but try telling that to a man who wants to mess with his own perfume in the same week as playing downtown Camden!!

In the words of Ingrid Chavez, he needs to get his shoes off and his feet onto the grass. He may a 'superstar' but there ain't no such thing as superhuman.

Defo "Planet Earth", obviously!!!

And i have listened to FSLS by JT and there are one or two songs on there that are ok, but i think its track 4, its sooooo reminds me of a early prince song something of "dirty mind", even before all the bitching JT did about prince i thought that, so i'm not just saying it because i cannot stand JT!!! It sounds like JT and timberland where jamming all night to that album and come up with that song!!!

any hooo, i agree with some on this thread, I don't understand what people see in JT, at first when he came out of the boy band he tried to be the next MJ, score no points with me on that one anyway!!! Then his second album was all about Prince!! I just think he's really childish and he's rude!!!!!

any hoo roll on 7th august 2007, got my ticket have you got yours.... lol wink lol wink lol

Hehehe, I don't LOVE him... I love a few tunes on his both albums; as a whole, his albums lack power, but the singles, the hit songs are amazing.

First of all, he is a performer more than a musician, so that sets him apart from Prince. In that respect he is somewhat more MJ, I suppose, who, like JT and Madonna, knows how to pick the right producers/songwriters.

Second, it is just his second album; cut him some slack. Prince was called the new Stevie Wonder when his debut came out. He wa sin freaking cover bands before that.

Third, the JT debut album was FILLED with songs the Neptunes wrote for MJ... so hence that link...

And lemme return to my one statement; I still like just the Futuresex/Lovesounds beat WAY better than anything on that Planet Earth album, no matter how much I like that one also.

But Prince wasn't called the new Stevie Wonder because he sounded like Stevie.....it was about talent.

see....can't win..lol

See I think its just funny that ppl keep calling Futuresex/lovesounds a "prince like record" which only proves my point. The MJ thing had nothing to do with the sound....

I'm sorry.....Jt bites hard on other artists styles and then calling them his own.

I'm not here to defend JT. But when it comes to originality, I don't think prince is the best example IMO.

Prince has borrowed a lot from his idols too. I mean A LOT. Some of his best performances look like straight impersonations.

When FSLS came out I really dug it and was stoked that JT had chosen to sample my favourite artist. Played it many, many times but after a while found it a little plasticky- almost like an imitation of something else, which i guess is exactly what it is. Originality goes a long way. Listening to PE was an interesting experience in that it seemed that Prince was sampling JT- who of course was sampling Prince- weird. then it dawned on me that Prince has been doing this for so long that it's almost like the old 80's Prince is a completely different artist. I'm drifting from the point here. The point: Prince's PE stands at the front of a very rich back catalogue of incredible, original music, and this depth can be heard in the music. Whereas FSLS skims the surface, PE jumps in and gets every note wet with soul.
