PS, even though I love me some Prince and the new album is great, that beat of the song Futuresex/Lovesounds is hotter than anything on that album, including W&L.

Serious. I got that beat looped and sometimes it just plays on my system for an hour; it's that hawt.

I really, really like FutureSex/Lovesounds and have since I first heard it about a month before its release (and proceeded to annoy all of my friends with it). That being said, I can't say that I love it more than a Prince release. I have no special love for Justin Timberlake, but I think that he and Timbaland released a very well crafted, sexy pop album that I will listen to for some time. But come on....I'll always take a Prince record over a JT record.

if you wanna hear a group that sounds like prince but isnt prince, its the Time. They are still hot after all these years.. Get it up, Cool, The Stick. This music is awesome...

The reason I make this comment is this... People have been trying to recreate the Prince "sound" since time began... Someone before mentioned Janet Jackson, Lenny Kravitz, but there are mulitudes more that were "hot" over the years and then either faded away or did something else.. Remember "Ween"?, and other groups like the Neptunes, Alicia Keys, Andre 3000,D'Angelo, Beck and probably thousands of others that I cant remember... all influenced by him and his style and all tried to "capture" some of that Prince magic... but the problem is, Prince himself never made music in this style, if he did, it was for short moments, and maybe for an album. 1999 and PR maybe defined his "classic" minneapolis sound, Dirty Mind his "Punk Rock style", Lovesexy his "ElectroSpiritualPop" sound and Black Album, his "pure funk" sound.. but all of it was dirty, rough, not ever completely polished mainly because of the speed he got through making his records and his very busy lifestyle...

Others, with more time on their hands, try and recreate that Prince sound and have been trying over the decades.. This is where we get to Future Sex/Lovesounds. This is definately a record that has successfully done it - ie recreate a perceived Prince sound. And for this, it sounds great. Its a great album on its own and should be remembered as such. But the so called Prince "sound" is a fallacy. He has so many facets to his sound, its just that we have a classic image of his sound. The Linn, the horns, the falsetto, the rythm guitar. Any uses of these instruments suddenly get the tag of "Prince sounding". So this is rather funny to me, when Prince doesnt even sound like classic Prince anymore, his old styles are so influentual that people are still trying to "do" Prince.

I dont blame them, for Prince is the best. So FutureSex/Lovesounds in this respect has just done what everyone else has done is has tried to do, but perhaps in this case.. successfully. The only question is, will it stand the test of time? In 50 years time, will people love "Sexy Ladies" or "Sexy Dancer"? I personally think it will be the latter, but who really knows.. I think Purple Rain has had a much more lasting effect than Purple Haze but I also think that Sex Machine by James Brown is more influential than Sexy MF. All in all, its horses for courses. As a Prince fan, I beleive that he is the best and does the best purely because his type of raw talent is unknown in the modern pop era, but I dont think we should lambast those who copy him and try to get it right. We should be encouraging it!

They're both crap.

Try some real music like Bonde Do Role, Goose, Wolfmother, Roisin Murphy, LCD Soundsystem, Arcade Fire, M.I.A, Editors, Spank Rock, A Silver Mt Zion, Justice, Amy Winehouse,... and a gazillion others.

Well to be honest...

I bought FutureSex/LoveSounds the day it was released (off Itunes of course... and I planned to do the same thing with Planet Earth, but I doubt I'd be able to...)

FSLS is an incredible album, if not the best album of the year. It is a funk album that resembles Prince's LoveSexy album in my opinion.

Justin Timberlake covers many areas of his life in the album while maintaining top qaulity music.

FSLS is not just a pop bland of wanna be hits. Each song on that album could be in the Top 10 on the billboard.

I have not heard Planet Earth and I pre-ordered it on Amazon and I'm quite anxious to hear it, but I'm willing to guess musically it is a better album that FSLS, but it will be tough to beat it.

In fact I'm willing to bet FSLS wins about 3-5 Grammy Awards, because it is Justin Timberlake's best album, 100x's better than "JT" his debut album.

U have been a bitter ugly troll on this site for years. What is the sickness that resides in your brain that u come back year after year to slag Prince off? Have u seen anyone about your problem? being angry and negative is not healthy why do u do it? Did prince promise u the stars and u only got the moon?

the most Prince influenced album ever made.

Did you ever listen to anything by N*E*R*D?

By any chance? Or anything by Janet Jackson in the 80's? Or Lenny Kravitz?

To be honest, I just find smallish references to Prince's music, even though he cited Prince as an influence on this album and had some Prince old skoolers in his live band.

The title song sounds like something Prince should have done and most fams dislike Justin for this; that's why they are so overly (and childishly) over-aggressive.

And prejudiced, cuz he was in a (shock! horror!) boy-band.

Anyways. Trying to say; apples. Pears. Nothing remotely the same. Let's ALL have fun.

I disagree with this. I think Prince fans dislike of JT comes from this seemingly disrespect that JT has and yet him and Tim don't mind "borrowing" from Prince.

My dislike of JT is that i think he's a prick.....he's very pat boone-ish to me.

That's a pretty good comparison. I do not think JT is currently at the level of thievery as Pat Boone was in his prime though.

Mr. Hamster sir, you love JT so there's no winning with you.

I think JT does a little more than just borrow.

I've never listened to a Prince song and said whatever song should be a Michael jackson song.

Prince may borrow but he adds to his own thing. JT first "borrowed" from MJ and now from prince. Next...Madonna...lol

We really don't know who Justin Timberlake is.

Hehehe, I don't LOVE him... I love a few tunes on his both albums; as a whole, his albums lack power, but the singles, the hit songs are amazing.

First of all, he is a performer more than a musician, so that sets him apart from Prince. In that respect he is somewhat more MJ, I suppose, who, like JT and Madonna, knows how to pick the right producers/songwriters.

Second, it is just his second album; cut him some slack. Prince was called the new Stevie Wonder when his debut came out. He wa sin freaking cover bands before that.

Third, the JT debut album was FILLED with songs the Neptunes wrote for MJ... so hence that link...

And lemme return to my one statement; I still like just the Futuresex/Lovesounds beat WAY better than anything on that Planet Earth album, no matter how much I like that one also.

futuresex/lovesounds is just good, not at all brilliant. but i said it on HQ and i'll say it here:

if futuresex/lovesounds was released as a prince album (all justin vocals replaced by prince vocals) pretty much everyone here and at HQ would treat it like the second coming of christ. you know i'm right.

its the best prince album since the gold experience.

But Prince wasn't called the new Stevie Wonder because he sounded like Stevie.....it was about talent.

see....can't win..lol

See I think its just funny that ppl keep calling Futuresex/lovesounds a "prince like record" which only proves my point. The MJ thing had nothing to do with the sound....

I'm sorry.....Jt bites hard on other artists styles and then calling them his own.
