Planet Earth, for sure. Futuresex/Lovesounds has a few hits, but mostly misses. PE is consistent all the way through. cool

Planet Earth by Far. FurureSex is pretty good, but it got old real quick to me. JT actually writes worse lyrics than Prince, and the songs on it that are bad are unlistenable.

Ok I may don't like PE a lot BUT it can't b compared 2 Future Sex/Lovesounds I mean PE has a meaning,it's kinda more creative the other album (well form the songs I have heard) is just so meaningless....

???? 2 of the 10 songs on the album have some sort of theme that coincide with the title of the album, hardly a ratio that equates to the album having some sort of meaning or theme. and besides, whethe rit did have a meaning or not (it doesn't) doesn't mena the quality of the songs can't be judged against each other.

Here, here. Some folks' ears here are really blinkered so to speak. Justin Timberlake's album is miles and miles better. 'Planet Earth' is so unmemorable.

In my case, it's not me being a 'fam'. Musically, I just plain don't like JT's voice or his plastic, boring, repetitive songs...they are unmemorable, thankfully.

As for his persona, I think he's a pompous, arrogant, ugly asshole. barf

Why don't Prince fans get a new gig? How come you lot are still so lame as to only listen to Prince and bland pop music that sounds like Prince? GET OUT MORE. There's so much great music being made now, and yet some of you are still debating Lenny K, for crying out loud.

Ummm..personally, I do listen to a lot of different artists, but I don't come on a Prince site to talk shit about him and push those other artists.

If I wasn't interested in P's current music, I wouldn't come here at all. Unlike you, who thinks that Prince is the worst person on the planet, but is so obsessed with Prince, he can't stay away. loser

That's Bart's M.O., or gimmick, if you will. He has to always step out of the shadows to dog Prince time and time again to prove that his taste in music is cool and better than everybody else's. It's the same tired schtick that he used on AMP for so long. If he hates Prince's current music and has done so since The Gold Experience, you'd think that in that 12 year time span, he'd have found a way to let go. It's like he has a case of Battered Spouse Syndrome.

That last line is a good way to put it. lol

Yeah, I just don't get it. Why spend YEARS wasting time, energy and brain matter on someone who you think isn't worth it? It's like his own personal Groundhog Day that he has dragged us into unwillingly. I've heard the 'Basement Jaxx is so much better than Prince' crap for waaaay too long now. blahblah

seriously, I already stated why. seriously. not all answers have to be in the form of a thesis. the songs on FutureSex getting real old real quick is an answer enough. I like the cd, just not nearly as much as PE.

You didn't respond

I'm asking you SERIOUSLY what makes PE "by far" a better album.

Saying FutureSex getting real old real quick is not serious response.

I'm asking you to respond serioulsy what makes PE such a BETTER album and "by far".

Bring real arguments.

there is no real argument because this isn't something that is debatable. I don't have to analyze the music beyond what I have to form a subjective opinion and comparrison of the two.

you want an argument, inherently meaning you want to debate my opinion. and if your interest is in debating my opinion, your purpose is obviously to tell me my opinion is wrong. sorry, but the comparrison of PE and FutureSex isn't anything that demands a position more in depth than what I have stated. feel free to debate that if you like.

Wow I actually didnt think Planet Earth was gonna be that good but I have to give it 2 Prince.

When FUTURESEX cam out I was like.. P AINT GONNA BE BETTER THAN THIS!

But Prince took it and made an album vastly different from 3121 and Musicology and is original again.

Chop Me Up and the latter 2 songs can be throwaway tracks on Future Sex...All The Midnights and Planet Earth are the throwaway trax for PE 2 me.

And BECAUSE Justin sampled Prince for "Pose" and "Until The End Of Time" which even the title steals the first line from Adore. it makes Prince's non sampled album even a better candidate for better album imo. Prince wont be using samples from Timbalands drum track anytime soon...or ever.

if you wanna hear a group that sounds like prince but isnt prince, its the Time. They are still hot after all these years.. Get it up, Cool, The Stick. This music is awesome...

The reason I make this comment is this... People have been trying to recreate the Prince "sound" since time began... Someone before mentioned Janet Jackson, Lenny Kravitz, but there are mulitudes more that were "hot" over the years and then either faded away or did something else.. Remember "Ween"?, and other groups like the Neptunes, Alicia Keys, Andre 3000,D'Angelo, Beck and probably thousands of others that I cant remember... all influenced by him and his style and all tried to "capture" some of that Prince magic... but the problem is, Prince himself never made music in this style, if he did, it was for short moments, and maybe for an album. 1999 and PR maybe defined his "classic" minneapolis sound, Dirty Mind his "Punk Rock style", Lovesexy his "ElectroSpiritualPop" sound and Black Album, his "pure funk" sound.. but all of it was dirty, rough, not ever completely polished mainly because of the speed he got through making his records and his very busy lifestyle...

Others, with more time on their hands, try and recreate that Prince sound and have been trying over the decades.. This is where we get to Future Sex/Lovesounds. This is definately a record that has successfully done it - ie recreate a perceived Prince sound. And for this, it sounds great. Its a great album on its own and should be remembered as such. But the so called Prince "sound" is a fallacy. He has so many facets to his sound, its just that we have a classic image of his sound. The Linn, the horns, the falsetto, the rythm guitar. Any uses of these instruments suddenly get the tag of "Prince sounding". So this is rather funny to me, when Prince doesnt even sound like classic Prince anymore, his old styles are so influentual that people are still trying to "do" Prince.

I dont blame them, for Prince is the best. So FutureSex/Lovesounds in this respect has just done what everyone else has done is has tried to do, but perhaps in this case.. successfully. The only question is, will it stand the test of time? In 50 years time, will people love "Sexy Ladies" or "Sexy Dancer"? I personally think it will be the latter, but who really knows.. I think Purple Rain has had a much more lasting effect than Purple Haze but I also think that Sex Machine by James Brown is more influential than Sexy MF. All in all, its horses for courses. As a Prince fan, I beleive that he is the best and does the best purely because his type of raw talent is unknown in the modern pop era, but I dont think we should lambast those who copy him and try to get it right. We should be encouraging it!

Yes Justin hasnt created HIS OWN sound. Timbaland has. TImbaland re-invents himself..and not actually the artist.

Now you tell me that this isn't something that is debatable.

because there aren't any serious arguments. we aren't comparing Purple Rain to Beethoven's 5th, we are comparing PE to FutureSex, which when the history of music is written, will be spoken of with relative comperability. the difference will be compltely subjective between the two. all you are interested in is telling me why I prefer PE is wrong, regardless of the reason, so feel free to do so. but doing so is completely ridiculous because neither are brilliant pices of music that warrant any serious disection. no, I haven't disected either one to an extent to form a "serious" argument for eithers case, because doing so is worthless. it is simply preference, and I don't care whether you agree with my preference or not so I don't need to justify them to you if I choose to voice that preference. you take both of these cds far too seriously if you think there are serious arguments for the brilliance of either over the other.

JT wouldn't know sexy if the TWINZ sat on his face! Did "sexy" go somewhere? If so, is some David Green 90210 lookalike boyband alumnus REALLY bringin' it back? I play Sexyback (on a jukebox) for a laugh. The whole concept is hilarious!

Admittedly, I haven't listened to anything else of of FSLS. I can't get past the concept that JT thinks he's bringin' sexy back...cracks me up every time!

Now Prince...M M M...the man ooooozzzzzes sexy. And it comes through in his music.

And, boyz and girlz...you're either born with that or you're not.

So to me, FSLS is M I C...K E Y...you know the rest!
