Best Prince guitar solo Hi!
I'm new on the org! My name's Erwin, I'm from Holland, been a Prince fan since 87, seen him 4 times now. I'm planning to see him in Rotterdam and Antwerp next month So to start off my org-activities... Here's a topic! I've just bought a guitar (actually I'm a drummer..), I thought about this question for a while: ** What's your favorite Prince guitar solo? ** It could also be a solo you heard during a concert... Mine is the one in Dolphin, it's short but beautiful!

I second Joy!!! My all time fave.
The solo from the "rapture" portion in the Scandalous sex suite is actually the guitar from Sheila E's "Dear Michaelangelo". It's slowed down. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

the best guitar solo i've ever heard from Prince was during the Xenophobia celebration...although it is a toss up between two songs...the electric version of Whole Lotta Love had an amazing guitar solo and when he performed Beautiful Strange, the guitar in there brought a tear to my eye! if you can find these on cd somewhere...snatch it up! peace.

Just My Imagination.. that's what a guitar sounds like when it's crying... a scream for help or something.. wow.

There is a splendid guitar interlude on Batdance. Though the best guitar solos Prince has performed are all over Lovesexy ... cut deep in the mix. I especially like the solos under Anna Stesia.
Also Shockdelica has some nice guitar. The touches at the end of the Scarlet Pussy 12" are quintessentially Prince. Oh, and Family Name is quite good, both live and recorded.

It's not the best, as in the most grandiose or spiritual or whatever, but the little solo in She's Always In My Hair rocks.

Damn! That Beautiful Strange solo IS incredible!!! I just went back to my Xenophobia cd and listened to it. Not only is it a great solo, but a great performance overall!

You know what? Now that I think about it, Alexa De Paris had some of the most melodic Prince-guitar I'd ever heard at the time. I don't know if it really counts as a solo, but it sure is nice!
Also...BOB GEORGE!!! There's some pretty funky stuff going on in that track! I love how it kicks in right in the middle of the line "Little..yeah right. It might be little but it's loud!"

Great topic. One of my absolute favorites is from the Hide the Bone boot(?) where he played an amazing version of Soul Sacrifice at the Glam Slam East on 7-9-94. Incredible.

hey, Neokyle, THAT is one cool Radiohead-Bear.
Favourite Solo would have to be: Let´s Go Crazy, in the end, such a beautiful climax See the man with the blue guitar, maybe one day he`ll be a star...
