Can someone explain what he means when
uses EYE instead of I ? I think "Holy River" somewhat refered to this but I
don't fully understand it.

I think it began with using to replace "I." Lovesexy may have been his first time doing that. I never understood why they started spelling it out in longhand though. Just something unique I guess.

The most stupid thing is that I Know is known as eye know. Surely thats paradoxical to the whole idea?
Its not a "concept", most of it is just plain stupid. I don't mind 2 R in Love etc., but when its becoming difficult to read its irritating and silly.

I still believe it is part of his facination like many people with egypt. that symbol is such a heavy meaning symbol, when you use it, it in essence is watching you reminding you to speak the truth and those that are reading to also speak the truth, it does have a power of its own in totem sybolism the same awe power the great pyramid has. truth has many aspects to it including self respect and respect for others

SYMBOLISM hold a whole other aspect of meaning other than just part of a word like the english letters. Think of all t6he aspects that the eye is think of all the the commen phrases that are associated with the eye. Then youll just begin to understand the meaning of what one lttle symbol means and the power or the mysticism that this envokes upon the beholder. Why do you get mad? because its hard to read HA! thats hardely an excuse its simple. U instead of "you" seems much more personal just U encompasses the whole meaning of you better than the english spelling of y-o-u. No? Im sure there is a much better totemic symbol that would have more meaning but not to many now because the "ART" and "SCIENCE" that symbolism was is lost. So "U" is apropriate for this time showing the meaning of you as a single person or soul

I was looking at my mother's yearbook from 1975 and her friends wrote her messages using "2" instead of "to" and "4" instead of "for". As far as I know Prince wasn't making music for the masses in 1975. Nobody knew who he was so it doesn't seem likely they got the idea from him.

I know the streets in DC are letters and
when you get to the letter "I" it says "EYE".

Of course that's not the meaning--I can't believe U people think it has no meaning
(especially to Prince)...
