Prince wins 2007 NAACP Image Award for "Outstanding Male Artist" Congratulations Prince!

I did expect to see him walk out. He wore that nice Black and White suit with 3121 on it. The audience went crazy when they announced his name..and boy did he get an extremely warm applause and standing ovation....and I was hoping he won..thank goodness he did, because that audience was rooting for him big time! I can't remember all, I was so happy at the moment when he won, but it was about what would they say about us 50 years from now (talking about planet earth)..also he made a plea to the record execs (correct someone if I'm wrong) regarding R&B, Jazz and Hip-hop...can someone else expound on what he said about this? | |

my bf called me to tell me he was on and i'm so glad he did. prince looked great and his speech was great too. you could tell it was heartfelt.

Sorry I can't recap my mind was scrambled ... In essence it was about being introduced to some true jazz legends by Tavis Smiley last week, giving them what he holds dear...the stage he performs on (I guess he means having a jam session), leaving the people of tomorrow enough resources & challenging phone companies to play true music?? He also spoke about the jazz musicians that performed at the aftershow last week. He said they were happy to meet him, but he was more happy to meet them. Prince just needs to open a music school....to keep the "real music by real musicians" flowing....I could see it now with the big symbol.. Do you remember what his plea was about R&B, Jazz and Hip-hop? i didn't catch everything but i think, and i'm parphrasing, it was about old musicians bringing music back and forward to the 21st century and taking it away from the accountants and lawyers who've destroyed music. it was something like that.
