I'm glad he won a Golden Globe, and it isn't the end of the world if he didn't get nominated for an Oscar.
The song is brilliant for the film he wrote it for - period!!! It's a childrens animated film, what did you expect??? I love the song anyway, its very positive and makes you move you feet!!

No. This has all been covered before--when the song first came out. J7 confirmed it was written for the film and it is not Mayte on backup. I think the woman's name was Bria Fuentes or something. I will try to find the link to the thread when I get a minute... Here is the link where Jseven says it's someone new (that would rule out Mayte): http://www.prince.org/msg...4249?&pg=1 His reply is #10. And here is a link to the thread where J7 states it was a new song written for Happy Feet specifically: http://www.housequake.com...ost1202605 (Third post down.) There is also discussion of who is the backup singer.... Now you can doubt J7 if you want and that's fine...but given his track record I believe him in both of these instances... found the links edit [Edited 1/29/07 11:21am] The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Come What May won the Golden Globe but was disqualified for an Oscar. Space for sale...

that's the first i've heard of this - shows how little i care about the song that i don't even care to read the info at the links. it still sounds like an awful emancipation throwaway track, imo.

And nuts if you don't think he deserves a Oscar nod! Be real, how many times can you think of a Golden Globe winner not even get nominated for the Oscar? It's just unfair and another snub at his Royal Badness. I know what happened. The committee felt it was just an okay song and wasn't good enough by their standards. Plus, they're like "hey, didn't we give him one back in '85' for that movie. Garbage! Better word for that is b-----t! Once again the Oscars show their disrespect for Prince by shutting him out of the Original Song category. It's been going on since 1985. 5 prime examples: 1.When Doves Cry and Purple Rain were not nominated which gave the award to Stevie Wonder's(who's great by the way)"I Just Called to Say I Love You". 2."Kiss" was not nominated for "Under the Cherry Moon" and this song was #1 all across the charts. 3.'89'.No nominations for the "Batman" soundtrack. 4.Where's the nod for "Graffiti Bridge". 5.Girl 6 was a horrible movie. Definitely Spike's worst. But don't punish Prince for that when he made 2 brilliant songs for the movie in "She Spoke to Me" and "Don't Talk to Strangers". Peace and be wild!

Thankfully he didn't get a nomination for that song. The only thing worse than the song would've been a live performance of it. Having heard all of the nominated songs except the one in Cars, I can't complain about this either. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016
