Am I the only person who likes cowbell in Prince's songs?

Seriously, I think that stupid cowbell MAKES Endorphinmachine, and it gripes my butt when people complain about it.

I wish he'd release an album called THE COWBELL XPERIENCE and redo all his old songs with very prominent cowbell in the mix. Yes. In fact, I want him to let me go into the studio and lay down a fresh cowbell track over all the tracks on "The Undertaker".

I'm only mostly kidding. Like 60% kidding. I love cowbell in Prince songs, what can I tell you? Now I want to make a theme comp. Where else is there cowbell lovin' in Prince music?*

*and please Imago, don't ruin my thread. sad

I aint got no problem with cow bells. That over-the-top keyboard sound is the problem with the released Endorphinemachine.

Cowbell is the only piece of percussion you're ever going to need.

Well, he HAD TO use the cowbell on some songs. Otherwise his cowbell would have been just a waste of money if it would have never been utilized on a recording as well, right?

it's easier to pose and look sexy playing a cowbell than it is to pose and look sexy playing a drum set. it just looks like you're working out on exercise equipment, which okay, can be sexy, but not in the same way as pre-rehearsed, super-conscious cowbell posing.

wasn't there cowbell in 'glam slam'?

I think there will be a new song called Cowbell as the B-Side to Guitar...er virtual B-side.

The new album I am convinced is called "Princes Instruments"

When I was a teenager I dreamt of holding an imaginary new album by Prince in my hands (around 94 or so) and one of the songs on the track list was "Guitar".

True story.

Holy crap! I had a dream about a fictional Prince album too! It was an acoustic allbum called "Me and My Guitar." I even heard one of the songs off of it, and I can remember it to this day. Imagine my surprise when The Truth came out a few months later. Weird...

nothing against cowbell in Prince songs, but I'm sorry when I saw this thread I thought for sure there'd be a bunch of jokes referring to that Saturday Night Live skit with Will Farrell as part of Blue Oyster Cult, with Christopher Walken as the producer...."more cowbell!!" if you've never seen this- watch it, it's hysterical! lol lol lol

I like to imagine Prince stumbling quite spontaneously upon this beauty at Tractor Supply while out on errand for a bag of dove seed.

Only 63% kidding here.

It's not really a great, mind-blowing coincidence since it's just one word that could have matched someday anyway (I always thought however that "guitar" would be a great title for a song, especially if it wouldn't contain that much guitar on it). But my uncle foresaw the death of Sun-Ra a couple of days before Sun-Ra's actual death. That's hard to beat, he wasn't even a fan or anything.

'Life Can Be So Nice'. The cowbell just spazzes-out completely. It doesn't even sound in time for most of the song.

I love it! nod
