I was watching it live and these are my first thoughts. Prince should have gotten up on stage to accept his award. He's done it before (Oscars,Grammys,etc.) so why not tonight? He may have been late for some unforseen reason. Maybe he went to the bathroom to avoid it. If it's the later reason it's pretty lame for a man of nearly 50 and 30 years in the spotlight to be bashful to get up on stage at an event like this.
I also saw during an exit to commercial a short shot of him and Renato entering the room. Prince put his hand up in front of the camera to block it. Was that meant to be humourous? I thought,'what's the matter with you, Prince'? You are at a live,televised event and you don't want them to get a close shot of you? It made him look like an ass with an overblown ego. There are bigger names than him in that room.
I'm glad he won. I'm disappointed he didn't show more class. Winning keeps him relavent in popular culture. However,his behavior only solidifies in the minds of those who just don't get his music (that's what I call people who don't like him) that he is still a weirdo.
So...when's his next record out?


p.s. JT joke was disrespectful and lame. I think he is one of the most talented young entertainers today (see SNL, Sexyback),but he must be a real tool.
