Well, no disrespect to any of you, because we can all agree to disagree here, and you know I can be a bit bold at times, but truth is truth people. Now if the actor isn’t black and this is about a real, life story about Prince, then that actor doesn't qualify to play Prince . Don't let Prince's light skin fool you, he's done told everybody in more ways than one through his music and on stage in many ways, that he is a "Black Man" take it or leave it. If this was 400 years back they would have put him in the house and called him a "house n****" and if he winked at a white girl in some states about 50 years ago, they would have lynched his ass and he'd be hanging from a big ass oak tree. Now I don't care how many white girls he laid down with in the past and don't blame him for that, because if you can get the milk for free why pay for it?. So you can milk it down, rinse it down, wash it down and play it down. Now this may be a little shocking to some of you but newsflash, "Prince is Black" and that's a fact. So with all due respect, the actor would have to be Black if it's a real life story.
Now if anyone like Fred Armisen wants to emulate him for humor, well that's different, because it's just comedy and anyone can do that, but come on, a true life story, hey, stick to the facts. Some fans always trying to make themselves feel comfortable by "watering" Prince down. Don't be ashamed, love him like some of your parents loved Jimi Hendrix and accepted Jimi for what he was, a Black Man who played mainly "rock" music with some blues thrown in every once in a while. A white guy playing Prince in a true, life story would be totally ridiculous, it would never have the same feel if you know what I mean.(lol). That's like a white guy playing Mick Jagger (lol) or John Lennon. Prince walks, talks, breathes the soul of a Black man, so no matter how much you love him, at least stick to the fact that "Prince is Black", Black men come in all shades, now which flavor would you like? (now mods, I’m just speaking “truth” so don’t get mad, we can agree to disagree right? ) [Edited 9/23/06 6:53am] [Edited 9/23/06 6:58am]

With all due respect, everything U say here has absolutely nothing 2 do with the topic.Hollywood can make any actor look black or white 4 that matter, and if the said actor is a master of his craft, he could pull it off no problem.

Oh it has everything to do with the topic. See that is the problem, what you are implying is that it is ok for Hollywood to go backwards, like how white men/women actors/actresses used to portray "Native Americans","Asians" and "Latin" characters for years, not to mention, Al Jolson did absolutely no justice for Black people when he wore "Blackface" makeup to portray Black male singers and sang "Mammy!" . Oh, we should just forget about staying true to the story right? Well, newsflash! "This ain't the 1940s and '50s anymore! There are many "excellent" Black American actors that can play Prince and keep the story real and not try to lie like they did in Purple Rain and pretended Prince had a “white mother” in real life, just to gain a white audience, (and this was not Prince's doing, but the idea of the director/producers involved in making the movie) when we know d*** well his mother was Black, and please don’t give me that oh she had this type of blood in her and that type of blood, just to water down her heritage as yes,we all know what happened in America not too long ago, so let’s not act surprised, point is, Prince was born from 2 Black parents, so he's Black. We are talking about a "true life story" so it should be just that "true" in every aspect. I do believe Black Americans, Native Americans, Latins have had enough of, how should I say it..oh yeah, the "Imitation of Life" characters in Hollywood, so let's keep it real. The fact is Prince is Black and that's a fact baby, so the story of his life and his heritage should be kept “real”. (I mean really, according to your statement, that’s like asking Jamie Foxx to play Mick Jagger in Mick’s life story…..NOT! ) [Edited 9/23/06 17:19pm]

Whatever. I wasn't stating my opinion as 2 what color skin the actor should have, merely that it is possible, which it is...
Personally I don't think they should even consider a Prince biography, it goes against everything Prince has stood 4 anyhow. Y'all do just fine with Ur own imaginations.

If Prince never put the creamy crack(relaxer) in his head, there would be no discussion about white men playing him in a biopic.
Let's see Dave Navarro, David Blaine, Johnny Depp, etc grow a 'fro like Prince for their role in his biopic.

The trutth is Princes roots are from Louisaina and few records of black people exist there remember them saying the courthouse may have burnt down etc. I believe hes a light skinned black bred thru from generations of light skinned black, but I would say hes about 50-75% African descended and the rest may be French, Indian or Hispanic perhaps. 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

Ok, tane1976, this is not directed solely towards you, but check this, most of the time all I ever hear is people trying to make Prince a white boy, more so than they throw in the Indian and Hispanic part, so imagine this: "Attention all Black people born in America who are descendants of Africans who were made slaves before they came to the US. I want you to go to the courthouse and file papers against the families of our great-great-great-great-white grandfathers who screwed your African slave great-great-great grandmothers and file for some back child support, because since our white great-great-great-great-white grandfathers never took responsibility for their part in the making of our ten thousand shades of color and mixed blood, then they owe our African slave born American-great-great-great grandmamas and their children some damn child support" Imagine if we did that? I mean since when was it ok to start breaking down certain bloodlines of Black people and changing their race to make some people feel comfortable, just to say they worship a Black man almost like he's God or Jesus, but so shamed to admit it? Accept Prince for what he is "a Black Man". You don't have to start going back in Prince's mama's bloodline to say "ok Bob, we can say we love him because I think one of his mama's relatives was French or Italian, come on please, it's no damn secret why Black people are ten thousand shades of brown and black including everything from vanilla soiree to caramel to fudge to dark chocolate delight! But guess what? Newsflash! Bulletin! We're still Black! Come on read your history books...or didn't your mamas and daddies tell you. Fact is, Prince is Black, and it's ok to worship a Black man people , nothing wrong with that, ok? I ain't mad at you...shucks, Black people love Bill Clinton and we don't care that he's a white man because we see him as man that knows how to act like a "true human being" get my drift? (ok, ok so we did joke that Bill was our first Black President! ) (Boy the mods are gonna get me for this one!)

Fine, I give up. Here's your goddamn dream cast
Starring in "Purple Reign: The Prince Story" As Prince, it's obvious, short, crazy, ambigous sexuality... Co-starring Jessica Simpson as Vanity and, of course, as Morris E. Day, the versatile Sean William Scott and last but not least, Prince's parents I'm sure it'll be a hit "What kind of fuck ending is that?"
