Every real musician knows JAM & LEWIS run minneapolis...I was told that if you ask most local musicians who is the musician you would most like to work with and over 86% said JAM & LEWIS NOT PRINCE!
for one,Prince started in 1978 jam and lewis 84 but to date they have 36 more top ten R&b and pop hits than PRINCE and he had a six year head start! and to boot they have released over 200 more songs than PRince meaning they are more prolific

don't you think JAM AND LEWIS should be worshiped more than SHORTY PIPPEN?

No not really, because even Jam/Lewis had told everyone that Prince's sound IS THE Minneapolis sound.wink

First of all, who gives a crap about "hits". Second of all, you don't know how much unreleased stuff Prince has so you can't really say J&L were more prolific... oh and they are two cats and Prince is just one wink

....not to mention that Jimmy Jam does most of hard work on the pre-production side (MIDI recording, drum machine programming, etc).

This statement perfectly illustrates the fact that you don't know what you are talking about. Prince fans know that Purple Rain ain't even his best album. Hatorade anyone? And you call yourself a hardcore fan. No hardcore Prince fan would proclaim that Rhythm Nation trumps Prince's best. Hell, Jimmy and Terry probably wouldn't even claim that.

[Edited 7/20/06 19:16pm]

YES THEY WOULD because PRINCE FIRED THEM BECAUSE THEY WERE TOO MUCH COMPETITON FOR HIM.....when people think of prince they think of purple rain....Slugs think sign of the times.....people with 2 sides to their brain think purple rain,.....you know if you people dont get any smarter I may have to leave you again

they think of purple rain because that was his biggest album....many if not most here think its not his BEST. from your recent posts you seem to confuse "hits/record sales" with "quality musician ship" you can't win this argument and soon this thread will be locked...just give up and stop talking.

Prince is in the R&R Hall of Fame as a Recording Artist/Producer/Songwriter/Composer/Rock & Roll Legend/Superstar/Musical Genius!

Jam/Lewis is in the R&R Hall of Fame as just Songwriters/Producers!

No, they have not. The music they've written and produced for Janet and others is good to some degree, but it's far from great.

Actually there was Johnny Gill's self-titled album for Motown. Jam/Lewis use mostly the same RN sound and it work great for Johnny.

There's nothing wrong with celebrating when something nice happens. He happened to go #1, and that was nice so naturally as fans we're going to be happy for him.

Prince sells CDs because that is his line of business.

How are we arrogant when you are the one getting annoyed because we don't feel the same way you do about Prince. It's like killing you inside because we just don't accept your beliefs about Prince.

If you think Prince ain't all that, then fine, I respect that, but others appreciate him more than you so you need to respect that as well.

Nobody matter what you say or do, we are going to appreciate Prince the way we do. Awww, poor baby, it must hurt you knowing how much people still love Prince. Awww, does that make you upset. Poor baby. It's okay.

Who the hell are Jam and Lewis? Couldn't name one song. Now pretty much everyone who knows something about pop music could name a Prince song, take your pick: 'Kiss', '1999', 'Purple Rain' or 'When Doves Cry'. If you're talking about credibility in terms of hits, the fact that 'Jam and Lewis' aren't even recognisable names completely destroys your argument.

There's a big difference between someone who collobarates and someone who works BY HIMSELF. The fact that Prince has been the composer, arranger, writer, producer, engineer, etc. and had the success he had cutting it in the studio by himself, says a lot.

LIKE I SAID, IF YOU WANT TO BELIEVE THAT JJ AND TL ARE WAY BETTER, THEN FINE. People have different opinions. Get over it.
