Anyway who cares what simon cowell says, please! Im sure Prince is really upset about it....NOT! If it was torture why didn't you change the channel. Quick! duh, i was waiting 4 Prince to perform believe me if i had know what time the man was gonna be on there is no way i would have of sat through an hour and half of cheesy shite. but saying that simon cowell is the only thing on there that makes the show slightly interesting and cut a bit of the cheese out of it. i actually use to like simon until ive started to hear he keeps on slagging off Prince. FUNKNROLL! "February 2014, wow". 'dre.

so they think that prince was rude because he did not want to stay and kick it with the contestants? when has prince ever been a babysitter or sociable for that matter? when prince set up the conditons that he would do the show, then, is when the person responsible for booked performers should have mentioned to him that that is to be expected of him. at that point prince could have replied nay or ye. prince is spoiled himself. he started out with no money, doing what he wanted to do. so you know after he made money he is only doing what he wants. i am surprised he worked that gig. i missed it because it was his last minute decision that booked the show. had it been announced, there would have been sheer chaos and disorder, so my little man was not up to all of the commotion. he wanted the winner to get thee attention, not him.

As much as I love Prince I have to agree with everyone else here. He didn't have to act the way he did. If he didn't want to do the show then he shouldn't have. It was a nice surprise to see him perform but that doesn't change anything. My kitty wants to play...

I didn't C this, cuz I don't watch AI, which just promotes mediocrity, cuz folks vote for people that they can relate to, that are "down-to-earth". I want larger-than-life personalities. That's why I'm Prince fan. Simon Cowell hates Prince for what Prince represents: TRUE talent that the Music Business cannot exploit. MMMMMUUTHAFUCK A SIMON! PEACE.

http://www3.contactmusic....ndex40.htm COWELL BLASTS PRINCE Also see: AMERICAN IDOL SIMON COWELL PRINCE PURPLE RAIN RYAN SEACREST Thank You !!!!! As much as I can't stand that show, That description of Prince NAILS IT!!!!. That Dude is sooo blessed yet sooo ignorant it's sick!.I can't talk about my time spent around P. 4 legal, non-disclosure laws, but that's the tip of the ice burg. ppppp's DC AMERICAN IDOL judge SIMON COWELL has turned his famous barbed comments on PRINCE after being appalled by the pop superstar's surprise performance at the show's finale last week (24MAY06). The PURPLE RAIN hitmaker took to the stage at the Kodak Theatre for a quick run through two new songs before dashing off, refusing to meet the Idol contestants or greet the audience. Idol host RYAN SEACREST has since reported that he feared Prince would be a no-show - because he appeared just minutes before he was due to hit the stage. And Cowell insists Prince's attitude isn't one he'd like Idol winners to display at any time in their career. He says, "It just tells you how selfish he is. He comes on, not a word - 'I'm not gonna sing with anybody else, I'm not gonna say goodbye.' Thank you for your generosity, Prince." 30/05/2006 20:23

What posts have YOU been reading. . .I read something completely different. I get the sense that the folks here KNOW what to expect from Prince. Personally, I was disappointed that he did that show at all. Even though he did ROCK the house and show those "kids" how it's DONE!!!! I think that show is beneath him. He did redeem himself a bit by just strutting (not walking) off the stage. Rock and Roll ATTITUDE at its BEST!!!
I don't understand the appeal of AI. The first season it was OK, but now. .it is just rediculous. Too much hype. and Simon. . .don't get me started on that arrogant pompass ASS!!! He was kinda funny at first, but now he's just ludicrous. DreZone said: I think that based on the posts up 2 this point, the majority favour Cowell... I'm another. Now as much as I can't stand the oversaturation of reality TV, there is still a manner to how you present yourself no matter how high and mighty you or other ppl believe you are.
Prince don't need 2 prove that he has rock star status by being the prick that rock stars usually are. His choice of songs were dynamic IMHO, being upbeat and slow - two totally different extremes in which contestants are ALWAYS tested on. Prince just showed he could do and has done both. He came on and kicked ass but didn't have 2 be an ass about it - bottom line. As 4 the person who wrote that AI didn't need Prince for ratings - well said. He wants to be free? He's gotta remember that ALL successful artists are SLAVE TO THE MEDIA. They are the ones who will make you but will also be the ones who will BREAK YOU. Prince better remember a line he wrote - "One more card and it's 22" ya heard...? 'dre

I saw the performance and was shocked he wasn't even there at all. (Anybody receive the hypocritical but appropriate email advicing against Idol Whorship?) What freaked me out the most is Lolita sounds good live. (I HATE the cd version.)
Whose Simon? Whose Prince? They're both human thus they are faliable. Who cares? _________________________________________

Everybody should probably remember, Prince doesn't give a shit! There's nothing left to prove.
Prince used Simon Coward and Idol the same way Coward uses those kids to make mega millions. 3121 aside (I love it), P's most notable achievment of the last 15 years (in many eyes) has been his battle against record companies and uninformed musicians signing their life away and having someone else control their artistic and finacial future. I'm not saying it was only altruistic but he has had somewhat of a legit point. I swear to you I saw this coming. I knew if P was going to be involved with this popular show it was to use it for what it is/represents. Surprised to see him on the show, Yes. Surprised at how he went about it, NO. I think it was funny even though an assanine thing to do. It would have been very cool to see P give lessons on showmanship, singing and musicianship to the contestants. As a fan I would have loved that. He also would have created a new genration of fans. Sort of a missed oppurtunity to share his incredible talent. Simon Coward is a BIGGER ASS than P. Man boobs an all. If Coward had any gripe at all it should have been about the thickness of P's foundation and the intnesity of the blush on his face. I love ya P, but little richard ain't too far away. [Edited 6/6/06 6:39am]

simon cowell is rude himself. what he is complaining about, is a perfect example of the "pot calling the kettle black". he is not the only one who can and will be rude to people. sometimes simon is legit with his comments and other times he just does it to disagree with paula and randy. the show is just a gimmick for people who have been successful in other avenues of entertainment to go there and compete with others while being televised. i have known a few people who have auditioned and i know they can sing. but they give concerts for people like that guy who sings "she bangs, she bangs". he is just a clown. but they invite you to see him at your local mall to listen to that shit! so many talented people never make it to simon, paula and randy. to real entertainers, it is disrespectful to hype up people with no talent, against people that really have talent who missed the chance to really be competetive with each other. its about the neilsen ratings!

I thought it was typical Prince....He could of had less makeup on but I loved the PIMP WALK off the stage. That made my night besides the fact that I got a lil treat mid-week of Prince. I am by no means a Simon fan, but I have to totally agree with him on this one. One might say it was a case of "Classic" Prince, but it is stunts like this that makes him come off as a prick and definitely won't help him win any popularity contests. Some may say that he doesn't owe anything to anyone, but his vast knowledge of the music industry and over song craft is something that he could have shared a little with the contestants, and in turn would have given him a little normalicy and would have put him in a good light with the public.

Like eqytt said, Simon Cowell is rude! He's just pissed because he's used to being the "attention getter" and then here comes "The Man" and says you ain't sh*t! All without saying a word.... Prince is the original Pimp and thats all there is to it.

ROFLMAO!!!!!
Nothing to say except, after Frank Zappa, Prince is one of the most important contemporary musicians of the 20th (and now 21st) Centuries. Period. Fact. Simon Cowell is a ponce who needs someone to punch him in the face every morning when he wakes up to remind him of the F-wit he is ... he and his show have done nothing but HARM to the real music industry. His opinion on Prince is unqualified, as he hasn't the goods to be more than a glorified pub-judge of a karaoke show. Ok, so he made a TV show out of it - HELLO?????!!! TV SHOW! What the HELL has that got to do with being a musician and playing music??!!! C'mon - no need to discuss this - Cowell is an irrelevant shit-smear on the world's music industry - he is his only fan, and his insecurities just scream-out every time he opens his mouth. Look in his eyes - he is a very scared soul hiding behind his pathetic halitosis-mouth. Don't even put Cowell and Prince in the same conversation - Cowell WISHES he had 1-bumpteenth of the talent Prince has, whereas Prince enjoyed using Cowell's show to show the dumbed-down viewers what REAL talent is and that it IS still out there. Still ROFL ... F-off Cowell you F-wit. Well done Prince. Your set was great, and congrats to not talking to them - they're losers and hang-ons. _ [Edited 6/6/06 8:29am] [Edited 6/6/06 8:31am]

Tell you the truth i still I think (because this my opinon) that if prince didn't want to do the show than don't do it simple as that.
I didn't even know he was going to be on A I myself. Why I said let me say that again WHY! would you have people expect you to show up to do something and to be on time do rehearse and everything than you say to yourself at the last min I will go on the show and do my thing! I think they kinda not right because people expect u to be professional not just come on the dot when you know you have to be on!! Well that I all I have to say. But again that my opinon. So what the fuck talent does Simon have??? He is the last one that should be running his mouth! Lets see him take the stage and do something.....ANYTHING???? He's just a wanna be pretty motherfucker, and he is far from his goal! Prince went on that stage and dished back as much attitude and rudeness as Simon dishes every season of AI, and Simon doesn't like being upstaged at his own game. Sorry Simon, you ain't no Prince!

Simon is right. "Prince's attitude isn't one he'd like Idol winners to display at any time in their career" Those words will come back to haunt him, though. I can smell a diva in that Chris guy.
Anyway, he didn't slam Prince or say the performance was bad. He said what AI people are supposed to say. It makes it all more interesting. Why do you like playing around with my narrow scope of reality? - Stupify

When I saw Prince on Idol it was amazing! I especially loved when he primped and combed his hair. But my favorite was the completely F-U exit! I LOVED IT. He don't need to talk to no fake-a$$ Ryan, Simon or any of those people. Prince graced us with his presence, tore up dat stage and showed us How It'z Dun! Point Blank! He was like, I'm out!
