Not a strictly 10 seconds list

Alphabet Street 12-inch: "This is not music, this is a trip."
Computer Blue: the final 45 seconds of guitar thrashing
Controversy: the Lord's prayer section
Glam Slam: the closing string outro
Housequake (live): "What was that? Oh! It's.....KAT!"
I Would Die 4 U: opening 30 seconds, just gets me everytime
Little Red Corvette: again, the opening chords
Mountains: "Africa divided, hijack in the air" luv the verses SO much
Baby I'm A Star: the Minneapolis funky jam towards the end, picture Jerome Benton doing his signature "Time" dance to it, I gotta dance!
Condition Of The Heart - the whole song is bliss
Sometimes It Snows In April - closing 10 seconds
Life Can Be So Nice - opening 10 seconds
Still Would Stand All Time
The Morning Papers - guitar solo
I Like It There - guitar solo
The Love We Make - chorus sends shivers
Good Love (emancipation) - keyboards going crazy

Rainbow Children probably has my favourite 10 second guitar bliss moments actually:

Last December - the guitar solo midsong is incredibly uplifting
Family Name

Damn, I've rattled on too long, sorry!

Here's another 10 seconder I love.

At the close of "Everlasting Now", when you think the song has ended, then Prince shouts "Psyche!" and the jam continues once more, until "on the one!"

I think that's actually Femi, not Prince himself.

"Can't Stop This Feeling I Got" -

- the coda, the fade out, the final ten seconds or so of this song is Prince's greatest groove he's ever laid down. Absolutely bad-ass bass line with a ripping guitar solo over it. It fades out so I always increase my volume up to ten (and then unfortunately I get that "Lay down your funky weapon" from the next song blasting out of my stereo). But that final 10 seconds at the end of "Can't Stop" with the groove and solo is amazing. (I wonder if there is a full version of this song that has the coda groove not fading out.)

Any favorite parts to Prince songs that just send you to heaven?

You know, I listened to this again, it's indeed the shit! But it fades out all too soon. sad

The end section of Escape (Free Yo Mind from this Rat Race):
"No punks allowed- MUSICAL CRUCIFICTION - goin down, down...."

The way he says musical crucifiction gives me friggin goosebumps! eek

The beginning of the extended portion of Feel U Up (Long Stroke) when Camille says "Ha! What's the Verdict?- We don't like suspense- How can U resist my burn ing kiss??): I probably rewound that damn part 100 times cuz I couldn't believe my ears-- pure bliss love

ahhh, Camille drool

The very beginning of Computer Blue: I don't care how many times I hear it; those drums with that squeeling guitar and W&L dialogue is and always will be the definition of what sex sounds like.

After the guitar solo in When Doves Cry, about 4:45 in you hear the "oooh oooh oooh" and then that kind of chant that he does in the really high voice combined with violins until the reaaally high and extended chant thingy - it's like an orgasm for your ears.

I Love U In Me. "When we making love it's like surgery" and on one of the later repetitions you have him repeating "surgery" in a high voice as a background vocal. I LOVE THAT!!

Strange Relationship. "Do doo doo, doo doo do doo." Great stuff.

The opening ad libs of Adore.

The guitar/violin solo in Pink Cashmere.

Thieves In The Temple. "They don't care where they kick, just as long as they hurt you." And the way the drums and bass kick in. And then when the song really gets going with that guitar lick after "but I should've died if you're not there, love come quick...."

After the acapella opening in 7. The instrumentaion comes in and you can hear this dude laughing - I love that laugh.

Oh God, yes. The same thing happens on the full-length version of Mountains. It's the bit when it all breaks down... You've got that weird (almost Tijuana) brass, playing that riff against the drum machine beats... The orchestra swells; sounds like it collapses again and then the bass comes back and it soars like bubbles in a champagne glass.

"I hate U" guitar solo
I remember hearing this for the first time on the radio and being amazed that the local R&B station was playing a song with such an awesome guitar solo.

OH...MY...GOD! I know exactly the part you are talking about...I love, I love, I LOVE that part of the song!

Excellent, I'm not alone in loving this brief, wild, groove.

Now everybody,
- put on your 'Graffiti Bridge' CD,
- cue up the last twenty-five seconds of "Can't Stop This Feeling I Got,"
- turn your volume up to 10
- and GO INSANE!

I'm going to do just that.
Then I'm going to loop it, normailize it, add some samples from Prince's sample cd of Prince talking shit, and lay my own lead solo over the top. Now that is going to be PHAT!

Man, that is a great idea. I'm going to give it a go and just loop that "Can't Stop" bass line (I won't be laying any leads over it, though, I'm strictly a rhythm player). Thanks for the idea.

Oh, my! I have so many of these, it's unbelievable!

- The bridge/chorus of "Sign 'O' the Times;"
- The outro of "God;"
- ANY 10 seconds of "Power Fantastic," but especially the flute solo and the outro;
- The little string passage in "Dear Mr. Man" when he says "How 'bout this hole in the ozone?;"
- The segue into "The Marrying Kind" and the end going into "If Eye was the Man in Ur Life;"
- The end of "Darling Nikki;"
- The intro to "Wasted Kisses;"
- That really quiet transition from "Dark" to "Solo;"
- The last chord in "Dolphin;"
- Passages in the middle of "Now;"
- ANY 10 seconds of "Shy;"

Unfortunately, that's all I can think of at the moment, but there are many more!

Yeah, this is working out nicely.

It seems everyone has little parts that may seem insignificant to others, but mean a whole lot to each poster here. I am going back and listening closer to these examples.

Great stuff, keep 'em coming.
