It's too bad he didn't wait to be on the show until the record was out and people could go buy it immediately.
Also, speaking for myself, when artists are on I like to hear stuff I have heard before but unfortately that wasn't really an option here with both singles so far being duds at least publicly. IMO it seems like this appearance was done way too early. This episode's supposed to be repeated on 3/25, right after the album drops. So that should help somewhat. I don't have the ratings to back me up on this or anything but I know that if I'm home on a Saturday night and its a re-run I almost always skip it except for that Justin Timberlake episode a few years ago because that one was a classic. | |

I just watched Fury again.
I have NOTHING bad to say about this performance. Last night, I said I didn't like the 'mediocre' lyrics. But today, I feel differently. I LOVE everything about the Fury performance. I don't know what the album version will sound like, but I definitely think this is a song that could catch on people...it ages well on second and third listen. (have not changed my mind about the second song, though). P.S. About SNL-- it was moderately funny. I thought Martin's skit about how Americans can't comprehend not buying stuff they can't afford was funny. And since Aaron Neville and ARetha are performing at the Superbowl and they are ...big boned...it is conceivable that they'd arrive looking for stuff to eat and requesting Popeyes. I thought that was sort of funny. Also, the Brokeback Mountainesque short with Martin denying his attraction toward a friend was funny. Anyway, SNL treated Prince right. It was clear they respected him. Edited to Add: I LOVED the way he left the stage, letting the guitar moan after him . [Edited 2/5/06 8:40am] [Edited 2/5/06 8:41am] | |

What a fantastic performance ! I LOVE that 'Fury' song, very energetic.
Thanks to TOM and the peeps at housequake. Without you I wouldn't have seen it yet here in germany. But now I have to search for a high quality video of that performance to burn it on dvd. Still nothing on emule. Do you know if NPGMC plans to sell a video of this performance ? [Edited 2/5/06 8:23am] [Edited 2/5/06 8:44am] | |

PRINCE tore it up LAST NIGHT! His performance was just top notch and amazing. The song "Fury" is fantastic.
With the 3 songs, "Te Amo Corazon", "Black Sweat" and "Fury" out it's no wonder why PRINCE still reigns supreme. All style of music covered right there alone. This is just ONE of the MANY reasons why I LOVE PRINCE. With every album you always get a little something different. Thanks PRINCE for an INCREDIBLE night on SNL. You made the show worth it. "3121" is just the tip of the PURPLE ICE BERG.... "Tiki Coladas"

Holy shit. I really can't wait to hear this album in its entirety now. Fury was absolutely incredible. Damn!
And I have to say that Tamar is such a talent. That girl can sing, and I love her stage presence. It's obvious that Prince really wants to see her succeed. I was just wondering if we have a new incarnation of a Prince girl group - Tamar plus those two dancers/backup singers? I was VERY pleased with these performances. Black Sweat, Fury, BL&B.....this damn album could very well be chock-full of hits. I was pissed and worried when I heard Te Amo Corazon. Now, I'm excited as hell. | |

MendesCity said: You know what's nuts? I think he might actually have the potential for a hit here. The aint it cool news talkbacks, which seems to be mostly full of jaded 15 year old boys, has a SNL post, and people are GUSHING about the Prince performance. And most of them are like, "When did he get so good again?"
Checked that out, here's two comments that made me "Prince is just a badass pimp mother fucker. That's it. HE MADE THE GUITAR PLAY ITSELF!! He's such a badass that I'm not even disappointed he didn't appear in his own sketch. I just figure it's part of his master pimp plan. If he had gone into "1999" after the last song I would've came right there on the spot, swear to god. Prince owns my ass and yours. That is all." "I fancy myself a fair guitar player but I suck ass next to that tiny little bastard. Prince is the Man. Oh the rest of the show sucked, as usual." [Edited 2/5/06 8:34am] | |

Tom said: I enoyed both songs. Fury had really nice guitar work and the more dramatic parts kind of reminded me a little of the Symbol album. The second song was easy going, sorta like a Brand New Heavies track. Something is changing with Prince because this isn't the preachy jaded Prince we've seen the past few years...he looked like he was having fun up there.
----- "isn't the preachy jaded Prince we've seen the past few years..." I would really like to know what you are talking about. I went to the Musicology shows and he was not jaded or preachy. I think he has been having a blast for the last two years or so. | |

The Fury performance made me proud to be a Prince fan. The song, the energy, the staging and that GEETAR GOOD LAWD!!!! Damn I was blown away after watching him murder that guitar last night. Unbelievable! 3121 looks VERY promising.
