PRINCE WAS THE SHOW...The rest of the skits were as funny as watching Nazi camp footage. Pretentious overpaid crocks -- these are your comedic ideas? Someome from the Org could easily come up w/something hilarious..of course Artistry and Creation has fallen by the wayside for the BUDDYCLUB, etc

SNL clowns should empty their wallets for a free concert after that amazing Prince performance...You just want MORE!!!!!

Cool scaled down band...The 2nd song took some of the fire away but cooool nonetheless.., nice Godly lyrics, something fresh. The middle dancer? Holy-- I'd 9/11 that ass. Song run-up was completely different from what was thought...I'm convinced Prince or someone is his camp is monitoring prince communities...checking feedback..He's unpredictable as ever --- I have no doubt now the next album will be the next phase for Prince and his career, having heard the diversity so far...I just feel sad for everybody else in the music industry, they'll look like INFANTS.. Well, school's gotta start sometime.. I'm doing everything in my power to get a concert ticket!!!!!

Ok, I've listened to 'Fury' three times already. Now I'm itching to hear what 'Beautiful, Loved and Blessed' sounded like.

I'm kinda disappointed in the show overall. Prince's performance was great, but the skits were especially unfunny overall. SNL isn't as great as it was in its glory days, but it has been getting much better lately. This episode was really lame--which is perplexing considering Steve Martin was there. A Steve Martin/Prince double-bill could have been off the chain, but the writers blew it.

I think that's why Prince didn't do a cameo on "The Prince Show". The guy has a sense of humor (which he rarely expressed in his early days). Hell, he did "The Muppet Show" 10 years ago, and participated in the skits and allowed the writers to use his as a source of humor (eg, Muppet with assless leather pants and Gonzo with the lace and heels). I think Prince has no problem being in on a joke, but the joke has to actually be funny. I'm guessing they ran the Prince show script by him and he was unimpressed.

And if the songs we heard so far are any indication, I can sum up 3121 like this: Nothing groundbreaking or amazing along the line of Sign O' the Times or 1999, but it will likely be a disc of thoroughly enjoyable, well-crafted songs. And there's nothing wrong with that.

My verdict's still in on the band, since I really cant' judge by the SNL performance. I still have a strong preference for John Blackwell. Prince should have kept him on the payroll forever.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one disappointed with the second performance. I suppose it's gracious for Prince to let Tamar perform her lead single, but no one tuned in for Tamar. I feel a bit cheated. The song is decent, but I wanted another "Prince only" song. sad

Is it sad to say that I'm already sick of Tamar?

I also wasn't too keen on Prince shouting out release dates...

Maybe I'm just feeling a bit let down because the first performance was so unbelievable! It was worth watching the show for that alone!

The video is a little glitchy (capture card acting up) but here's both of Prince's performances as well as the little snippet at the end, all in one file

These links may die kinda fast so if you can, re-up them to megaupload or rapidshare or wherever.

I must have missed something, but I'm curious, how do we know this? I
would have thought the Song was called Woman Scorned.

Man, he's throwing curveballs left and right. Do rags, protoges, dirty electofunk, guitar scorchers, famagazines. I predict this is going to be one of the most interesting Prince years yet. I really, REALLY loved that first song. Made me feel like a teenage girl and I haven't felt that way about Prince in quite some time.

Darn, it says I'm already downloading a file (though I'm not currently doing so) and that I've reached my 1 download limit on the other one. sad

Thanks for your efforts, Tom. Couldn't have watched the 'Fury' video clip so soon without ya. I almost felt like I was watching SNL.

That was THE BEST Prince song I've ever heard. That was a great guitar lead the entire song. I want to watch that performance again and again. Oh, and this episode of SNL really sucks otherwise."

This album is gonna be great.

Tamar, pssht. Sounds like a deodorant jingle.

Okey dokie folkies, here's some piping hot fresh gossip for you all concerning Prince's appearance tonight on SNL:

Allegedly, Prince was written into and was scheduled to be a part of the Prince Show sketch but it got changed at the last second because allegedly Lorne Michaels got pissed at Prince tonight because Prince did an "unscheduled" or "unapproved" song (guess he was originally going to do something other than 'Fury'??) and for walking off the stage like he did at the end of the song.

Sooo, the word is that Lorne got his panties in a wad and Prince is now banned from SNL.

Like I said, this is just gossip at the moment but it came from a fairly in-the-know source. Time will tell, though.

IF it's true, well, Lorne is just a big dumb whiny pussy and instead of getting all Nazi about Prince walking off the stage and for doing an 'unapproved' song, he ought to be on his knees thanking the universe Prince agreed to be on his increasingly lousy show in the first place. smile

For those of you who didn't get it, that was Prince in 'The Prince Show' - and I thought it was absolutely brilliant. Prince acting as Fred Armisen, acting as Prince... one of the funniest things I've ever seen him do.

His references to "Wendy riding on a dolphin" were a little obscure, but whatever. I was a little disappointed people didn't laugh more. I think everyone was trying to figure out "is that Prince? is Prince going to show up??"

I'd forgotten how funny Steve Martin is too.

I enoyed both songs. Fury had really nice guitar work and the more dramatic parts kind of reminded me a little of the Symbol album. The second song was easy going, sorta like a Brand New Heavies track. Something is changing with Prince because this isn't the preachy jaded Prince we've seen the past few years...he looked like he was having fun up there.

SNL is a good Show.....I really should get back to watching it
regularly. But this one BLEW! The only highlight was Prince. I
was kind of disappointed that he didn't do any Skits, but yet, I'm
not suprised either. I've never liked the Prince Show, and this one
was even more stupid. I was kind of surpised at the Song choices,
but I definately like the first one. I think the Album is going to
be great.

Didn't this happen with Elvis Costello back in the day?. I dunno, with the flame lighting, and the snippets in the commercial, it seems like this was rehearsed in advance and they were all aware ahead of time.

My first message should have read:

I liked the first song. But I bet it won't sound like that on the album. If it does woot!

And after hearing the second song I like that too. I guess I'll get her album and check her out. Hell might as well I have Carmen Electra's and Mayte's albums neither of them can sing. Atleast this young lady can.
