I just gotta say I love it when the Prince fan community is united. This is definately one of my favorite threads. I think Prince not only got his fanbase excited for the new record, but the non-diehards as well. I am so excited for him and us. ![]()

He doesn't need those dancers up there, and if he has them make sure they get a good routine.

Did he say "Superstar!" at the end of BL&B? Supposed to be some joke on the old Molly Shannon (Mary Katherine Gallagher?) character? He seemed to be giggling after saying whatever that was...

Hell might as well I have Carmen Electra's and Mayte's albums neither of them can sing. Atleast this young lady can. But at least you can look at Carmen and Mayte and not want to puke. Tamar looks and sings GREAT! [Edited 2/5/06 7:24am]

Fury...was simply ridiculous
BL&B was great and sounded even better live. Any music fan who watched that last night has got to be saying wow! Did I say Fury was ridiculous...what a great performance and classic blend of rock, funk, and P's penchant of luring everyone in with the pop hook. loved all of it....oh yeah Tamar is hot! Dance... Let me see you dance

- Agreed Nah, I loved 'em. Nice to see him shake up his routine a bit, and though some of their moves were a little too Martha-Graham-via-Christopher-Guest, I mostly liked the energy. [Edited 2/5/06 7:31am]

Anyone else? Okay, good, so I'm not the only one. - For me, it´s a cross between Hendrix and Dylan, music-wise...I didnt pay attention to lyrics yet...

Great performance last night!! After TAC and BS, I was getting worried-- bland music and trite lyrics, but he rocked last night!! Thank God I have it on TiVo!! "Just like the sun, the Rainbow Children rise."

Tried to get on last night but you mofos kept this thing so busy I gave up. Fury was a performance that was right up there with his best TV performances. It just shocked the hell out of me. My favorite live TV performance has always been the 87 MTV SOT/Play in the Sunshine medley and he did close to the same thing here. He could have come out and played it safe, did a little jazzy TAC and gotten a polite applause and a few whistles. That's what most acts do on the SNL stage, a rote performance to get a little pub. He could also have just played an older classic, maybe turned it up a notch and got the crowd excited like he did at the 04 Grammys but what good would that have done? What Prince did is let every ounce of his bad self hang out. He rocked with passion and showed that there is still some gas in the tank; that he doesn't have to coast off the fumes of his past legacy. Prince is still relevant, his music is still relevant, and there is virtually nobody out there that can touch him on guitar. I loved reading the SNL message boards last night where all these non-fans were just taken aback and they made comments like how they forgot how good a guitar player he was. Recognize...the man is back!
BLB was less of a revelation, a safer song but a catchy little toe tapper in its own right. Tamar is really getting some recognition, moreso than any of his proteges in recent memory. Liked it but didn't love it as much as Fury. Prince show was funny and I can only hope that Armisen got a few minutes with the man. I give props to Armisen for nailing the quirks of our man P but what is so great is that he makes P look eccentric but not foolish. The Prince Show has always been something where the object is to laugh with Prince and not at him. Thumbs up and loving the 3121 promotion so far. Universal is doing this the right way and P is cooperating. Let's hope it lasts. All good things they say never last...

I loved the first song minus the dancers and the second song didn't do much for me at all (without Prince I wouldn't have watched that girl for more then 10 seconds) but this appearance isn't going to sell any records because the records don't drop for a month and a half and 3 months and certainly the casual fan isn't going to remember this at that point. It's too bad he didn't wait to be on the show until the record was out and people could go buy it immediately.
Also, speaking for myself, when artists are on I like to hear stuff I have heard before but unfortately that wasn't really an option here with both singles so far being duds at least publicly. IMO it seems like this appearance was done way too early.

You know what's nuts? I think he might actually have the potential for a hit here. The aint it cool news talkbacks, which seems to be mostly full of jaded 15 year old boys, has a SNL post, and people are GUSHING about the Prince performance. And most of them are like, "When did he get so good again?"

Yes it might be to early to call BS a dud but as far as I know it has been sent to radio stations and the video has been played already and so far its not really being played much anywhere it seems. As a Prince fan we've all read this book before but maybe this one will catch on.
