I have never liked the Aunt Jemima look myself but... at least he took it off for the 2nd song.. He did kill on the guitar as alsways- I must agree!!!

Just watched the Prince Show skit - I gotta say it's still KINDA funny, especially knowing P was on the show that night I love the faces Fred makes - the burnt tongue, the sculpture... of course only the real fans get the obscure references in the little song moments (Mr. Hayes, Wendy, etc.) but it does give them a platform to imitate any celebrity & have them on as a guest for no reason other than for Prince to diss them
I dug it, but it might run stale soon... Fred is so good though, he even did his damn hair like that

I wasn't talking about the scarf His hair on top in the typhoon years was high & curly, tonight it was super flat which is how he's been wearing it lately. I think he needs the height & fluff to contrast the doo rag...

Just watched BL&B: it was cool, dug his colors HATED his hair!!! I want a new stylist immediately It's too flat, there's no movement, too stiff.
My boy did a damn commercial! "3121... March 21st..." I guess he didn't do this damn show for nothing, huh? All in all he did us proud, I can't complain Except about that hair Also, it's pretty good of him to showcase Tamar like that on SNL - could have been YEARS before she got exposure like that. He could have easily done another new one of his own or any of 1000 old songs, but he let her shine. That's pretty cool

That was worth the wait.... the download time, I mean.
First song, pretty cool. Reminded me of Crosstown Traffic. Wonderful to him playing guitar again.... I think I'll watch it once more! Beautiful Loved and Blessed? Baby I'm A Star beat, quite catchy, FONKY GEETAR at the end, marvellous. Just goes to show, whatever you think about Prince, as a live performer there is simply no one better. (And it was good to see him cut the guitar up just to show Jack White he still has a thing or two to learn!)

I've decided... I wanna be the person who carries around all his shit... When he says, "Where's that little black hat? I wanna wear it @ the end of the show." I wanna be the chick who hands him the hat - the wardrobe girl, the keeper of the clothing, the new stylist. Mmm hmm...

Ain't it funny how somebody on another thread (one of the small shows from the past 2 weeks) was all worried that he wasn't preparing himself properly & WHY was he doing this stuff w/ Tamar & all that? I remember wanting to respond like, "Bitch please! P could rock shit *when he wants to* at the drop of a dime!" He ain't gotta take a month & get ready, he just needs a good nights sleep If that

Aerogram said: Excerpt from a certain fan's diary :
6 am I woke up early today in preparation for Prince's SNL performance. In honor of this great event, I decided to make purple pancakes and serve grapejuice instead of orange juice. 7 am I am wearing a Black Sweater while doing a bit of tidying up. I want everything to be spotless in time for tonight. Thank goodness I am a good housekeeper and I won't have too much to do. Noon It took me much longer than expected but mostly because I kept dancing to my purple Nano instead of cleaning. I am now off to buy a few party things. I'll be wearing a SNL t-shirt with a Prince button. 4 pm Back from doing all the errands. I told everybody I knew to watch SNL tonight! The cashier at the supermarket was a fan. He hadn't heard the song so I kind of drummed the beat on the counter with two pencils and he said it sounded good. 6 pm I was too excited to eat so I started preparing. First a thorough shave. I tied an handkerchief around my head like Morris at the beginning of PR. That got me in the mood for a little celebratory eyeliner and haute eighties hair. 8 pm I am now fully dressed with a lot of time to kill. I settled on the Mountain outfit and it's a little chilly. 9 pm I've been watching the Black Sweat video over and over and it's really good. It has the potential to be even better live. Hoever I think I'm going to change into something more conservative. The video got me in the mood to wear a suit. 10 pm I washed the eyeliner away too. I don't know what got into me. I hope it's worth the wait. [Edited 2/4/06 19:20pm] God get a life for God sake

I just screamed when they announced that Prince was going to be on the show. The neighbor downstairs is gonna just LOVE me for that. OK I did the same this afternoon when I saw online that Prince was going to be on. Then went to my email and watched Black Sweat Text messaged my friend with that info and video, called all I knew who'd care (and some who could care less). Talked to another friend who had me look up something on nbc.com. Saw Prince on home page: screamed. Talking to same friend when the 1100 news was over and they showed him: screamed. When he played "Woman Scorned" I cried, laughed at myself, gave him the headbanger's salute when he was rippin' that guitar. My friend called afterwards to see if I was OK. Cried during the Tamar tune also....I so love to see how he's grown. Sharing the stage, loving life, etc. May 2nd yall. But where????? Need to log the dates yall

1. Amazing guitar Prince on that first number and it is a catchy song. Dabs of funk in it too.
2. Tamar. Love your voice and look forward to playing this album on the air. 3. Only cats that cut their teeth in the MPLS music scence can REALLY funk it up on that section at the end of BBL. It's in their systems. 4. Bit of sadness that the band has changed. Blackwell, Rhonda etc. but once an NPGer, always an NPGer. See Mr. Hayes and Mike Scott. You never know when the curtain comes up. 5. 3121. Come on with it Brother Prince. Thanks for the SNL performance. Minneapolis Music Month in March on the

He was really channeling Hendrix on that "Fury" song. It surprised and shocked me in a good way.

It's about damn time y'all stopped hogging the board!
Now that that's out of my system... Prince ROCKED IT!! It appears 3121 may have a little something, something for every kind of Prince fan. I was really hoping he'd have done the "Prince show skit" but oh well, their loss. Prince and Tamar look so cute singing together. I'm liking BL&B more and more. If that rumor about Lorne Micheals getting pissed and banning Prince is true, I say Amen cause that means I never have to watch that boring ass shit again. That was the unfunniest shit I ever seen. Hell, I laughed more reading posts from 2freaky4church1.

Great show. Loved everything about it. It was virtually impossible to tolerate how long it took just to access the Org after the performance, so I figured I would let things cool 'til morning.
Great performances. Loved the new song, "Fury." I was fortunate enough to have been out last night, so when I got home I was able to just FF through the rest of the show, except for Weekend Update and Prince Show. How awkward do you think it was for Prince to stand next to Alec Baldwin at the end of the show? Anyway, March 21 is going to take forever to get here now that I'm so pumped for the album. It's great because every new song I've heard sounds completely different. He's all over the map with genres just on those three songs. 3121 should be a great experience.

loved his first performance with the red and black,
the second one, was kind of disappointed...i guess i'm selfish, i want prince to perform by himself, or sings songs with mainly him on there.... i guess i'll get some flack for this one, that Tamar chick can sang her ass off, that's for sure.... but damn can we get the revolution back just one more time??? I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Prince's first song Fury was KILLER and really ROCKED HARD! I hope the album version will be as kick ass! Hot Sweat should have been the second song! The song for Tamar I didnt dig because I just found her wanna be Aretha Franklin singing style annoying. I was really disappointed by Steve's skits this time. Not really funny. Also the Prince Show skit is just repetitive. It was funny the first two times. Goodnight, sweet Prince.

Yeah, I wondered if I was the only one who noticed him look to the side a bit (dare I say, flinch) when Baldwin's name was called in the closing spot. P recovered well, though, and pulled Tamar up front (which was classy). But, I wondered about how that must have felt. (Kind of like a high school reunion, when an ex's ex shows up, too?) Kind of weird also, if you consider Fury's closing references to a mystery woman? But, maybe I'm just looking for shadows in the dark.

As for the Lorne rumor, I know how he is about doing unapproved songs -- Elvis Costello tore into one in the middle of his approved song -- but would that rumor involve Prince also having the lighting guy in on the act? The lighting for Fury was dead-on, giving a hellish cast -- especially on the song's intro. Seems if it was unapproved, the lighting would have been all wrong.

Its a shame you had to sit through that lame ass show to get to the Holy Grail. I have not been this excited over a prince release since Emancipation. Looks like he is back to form. The song and performance was incredible. I thought my hopes were set too high and he was going to come out and do Te Amo, and then the Tamar song, and i would be saying 'told you so.' NOT! I was so happy he is still funny of fun, excitement and surprises. Sounded great, looked great (but the tacky dancers i could do without). One Cat is fine.

i thought that would've been made evident by the set, clothes, etc. obviously some thought went into the whole performance even the director knew what was going to happen check the camera angles -- everyone was ready and look how they kept the guitar sustain in the audio mix long after the video had faded out quit with the made-up rumours, people (or at least don't spread 'em) [Edited 2/5/06 2:01am] Since I'm assuming your comments have to do with what I'd posted regarding the Lorne rumor, so I'll respond: I believe we'd already established way, way upthread that what I'd heard must be untrue. I already apologized for having run here and posted what I did, but I honestly thought the rumor had some validity to it based on from where I'd gotten the info; I wasn't posting just to "spread" "made-up rumours". Clearly, I made a mistake in judgement and I said I was sorry for it. (but in my weak defense, it's not like this place doesn't deal with hearsay and gossip a majority of the time anyway. ) But if made you feel better to post a self-righteous, chastising post reiterating everything that had already been covered, discussed and moved on from, then ok.
