Well what I heard or read somewhere is that Prince called Kevin at 3:00 a.m. to request that Kevin find him a camel for the infamous but as yet unreleased video montage that accompanies the song "grooves on hooves".

But there was a misunderstanding and when Kevin returned to the Park with a pack of camel cigarettes Prince got all pissed off and started a pillow fight with Kevin and chased him around the recording studio yelling "are you trying to kill me?! ARE YOU??!!!!!" Kevin only escaped by hiding behind the statue of Betty Davis in Prince's personal gym.

Then later Prince sent Kevin's car home and poor Kevin had to walk back to the drugstore in the dead of night when it was 20 below just to hitch a ride home. I dunno. Sometimes I just have to conclude that Prince is plain wacky

I'm just happy to do whatever I can to help this community understand some of the more complex aspects of Prince's personal life. Imo there are far too many misunderstandings regarding his history and personal quirks.

I think that once we get rid of the rumors and set the record straight we'll all finally come to understand how Prince thinks and feels. And when that happens we'll be better able to give him advice on the things that matter in life.

I, for one, think that Prince spends a lot of time here, taking notes. I don't doubt that he relies on the ORG when planning his career as well as his personal life.

He needs our help and if there's anything I, personally, can do to be there for him, well here I am.

This is so cool. Now we've got someone who didn't sign a non-confidentiality agreement... she needs to write a book RIGHT NOW!!

It would be great to have some inside dope from someone other than those who worked with Prince in the 80s (pre-agreement time).

We need to hunt this woman down, put a press kit together, and shop the book idea to publishers. We can attest to the demand for such a tell-all.

I, of course, can't wait for Kevin Smith's DVD2.

And I am f***in' in love with Prince... but I'm into scoop/gossip as well.

I read Kevin Smith's account when it came out and was embarrassed for Prince, but not surprised. Anyone who has been following Prince seriously knows he is a first-rate, perfectly impossible divo, your worst nightmare in fact. Given his Prince knowledge, I find it funny that Smith expected anything else. He must have thought he was recognized enough as an artist to get from Prince what he had given to no one.

I didn't think that the DVD overall was that great but the Prince story is worth the rental alone. Funny as hell! It wasn't all that harsh, either.

"Smith gave a follow up to the Prince story he's told at numerous conventions, about being hired to do a documentary on the Purple One and things going famously wrong. "I got a call two years after the DVD came out, [Prince's] producer calls, and she was like 'I can't believe you named me, by name!' I was like, 'Did you get in trouble?' She said 'I left there, but I was getting frantic calls, and I had to go in to meet him. He was like 'where was his non-disclosure agreement?' They had given me one to sign, but I put it down like 'I'll get to it later. I forgot, and thankfully I didn't sign it. He was really fuckin' mad about it. 'He wanted to sue you, but he found out you didn't sign the agreement,' so I was like 'right on, good for me.' It went around Paisley Park for a year, from employee to employee, like 'you need to see this, he fuckin' nailed him.' Then I heard he was on the cover of Entertainment Weekly, when Musicology came out, and the author of the piece called me up. ''Prince talked about Jersey Girl.' And I'm still like a fan, like 'Prince talked about me? Did he love it?' No. 'He went out of his way to talk about it. He said he saw Jersey Girl, and he just didn't like it. He said, 'I guess that's what happens when the potty mouth don't work for you no mo,' that's what he said. There's another DVD, 'Evening with Kevin Smith 2: Evening Harder' where I talk about him again."

Check out http://www.newsaskew.com/ for additional highlights of the Q&A. ...

not surprising that he didn't sign the agreement. it took him 2 years to finish writing the second half of the Spider-man/Black Cat mini-series. i can only imagine how long it would take him to just write his name.

Any1 know where I can read a transcript of Kevin's P story from the DVD? I'm a fan of both, and actually was looking forward to a Kevin Smith film about P, until the latter fell off the edge (and the former kinda lost his).

BTW, Great thread!

The problem is that no one will answer the question out right.

Kevin L. Smith = Co-founder of the Paisley Park Mailing List which later turned into Prince.Org

Kevin P. Smith = movie director, actor and guy who Prince asked to shoot the documentary for The Rainbow Children at the celebration in 2001.

Trickology

Kevin smith responds in thread to Prince.org user:

link:

http://viewaskew.com/theb...ght=prince

You got your response and for the last time that question wasnt planned to be asked. It was a impromptu q n a with an audience. He didnt get anything out of it, didnt make any money.
when are the fans going to see that this Prince dude is a power flake to the Howard Hughes degree? He can't handle "REAL" interaction with people.

spell it with me

Kevins response from Askew after people asked him on a thread on view askew:

yrh wrote:
I wonder how much money he has made talking about his beef with Skipper?

Um... that would be about zero. I don't advertise the Q&A's with "Come hear Kevin talk about Prince!"

But I do get paid to do the Q&A's. However, if someone asks me about Prince, and I tell that story (which, since it was on the DVD, people rarely ask at Q&A's anymore), does that count as me making money off talking about "Skipper"?

Does the "Evening With" story count as me making money off that story? Granted, it's on the DVD, but again, it's not like it's advertised "Watch! As Kevin Smith talks about Skipper!"

I'd have to say I earned absolutely nothing from telling that Prince story.

And for the record? I've only ever told that story because I was asked about what it was like to work with Prince.

You wanna talk about who's making money? Isn't there a charge to join that NPG music club of his? Any of that money going to a good cause?

And in spite of it all, I still love Prince's music.

Sorry - Skipper's music.

We are cross pollinating, how crazy is that? I just came here to post the same link Trickology did.

Also, what's a Power Flake Bammer? I like it... don't know what it means, tho.
