Okay, had to get that out of my system!
I agree that its fine for him to quit cursing, but I don't like the censoring of his earlier material. First off, all of us still hear the original lyrics in our heads, so it really doesn't matter if he changes them (if anything, he's drawing attention to the lyrics' absence). Second, I think it actually diminishes the changes he's gone through. If he leaves the earlier stuff alone, then it shows the listener his evolution. Rewriting history is pointless. Live, I wish he would just play different songs. Its not like he doesn't have a big enough catalog to draw from. Now, if Prince wants to nix the cursing on NEW RECORDINGS from here on out, that's fine. Personally, I think it makes him sound far more intelligent if he skips that. I agree with EWM that he got a little ridiculous with it for a while there, and I don't really miss it in the new stuff. Oh, and the use of substitute's like "duck" is just as bad. I had to play "1+1+1 Is 3" a couple times through to convince my 7 year-old step-daughter that Prince hadn't just said a "dirty" word! Oh, the irony! I WANt PRINCE to SING his SONGS LIKE he WROTE THEM. I wonder if he Changes lyrics to PREVENT WARNER'S from getting some ROYALTIES or SOMETHING . OTHERWISE, I think he DEFINITELY should sing the SONGS in their ENTIRETY as PENNED.

My best suggestion wouyld be to loudly sing the original lyrics at his shows and hope he hears. It would take almost the whole audience for it to be heard. Or maybe the audience could be chanting, "Sexy motherfucker, shakin that ass, shakin that ass!" "You need people like me so you can point your fuckin' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy." "

No, I don't want him to cuss.
Why? Airtime. How many great Prince songs hardly ever got radio airtime because of the language? Prince finally figured that out, or I think he did.

Prince would walk off the stage if that happened. He'd be yelling at us to stop it, then when we didn't, he'd walk off The Org is the short yellow bus of the Prince Internet fan community.

Prince would walk off the stage if that happened. He'd be yelling at us to stop it, then when we didn't, he'd walk off He'd probably get real pissed and yell out, "SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!" Then Larry would come out and give him a whoopin. "You need people like me so you can point your fuckin' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy." "

I used to hate that he wouldn't curse on his songs or sing the old songs with curses in them but I eventually realized that Prince is a grown man and one of the things I love about him is that he's going to do what he wants to do whether we like it or not. It's all about where he is at that moment. If he curses later on today then fine, if he doesn't ever again, fine too. He's still got the F U attitude of the past but it's in a different direction now. As long as it's funky, then I'm there with him. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I agree, and I don't think he needs to curse or be sexually explicit to be old Prince again. There was this whole attitude that went along with it that doesn't seem to be in his music anymore. Not that he's lost it, because it's all there when he performs, but it's definitely not on Musicology. I don't know what the problem is, but he needs to fix it and soon I graduated bitches!!! 12-19-09
