Someone at work told me about ''twin flames''...its as if both people share a soul, have that internal connection, as only a twin would...a mirrored image of the other.
.
Didn't Prince once say looking into Vanitys face was like looking into his own, the female version of himself???
.
Hmmmmmm?

Where/what was the interview in which P. talks about being controlling?

yeah! thanks. sadly only after she passed did i read that he named her after a vanity mirror instead of the other meaning of vanity. i wonder how that relates to that oprah interview where he talks about having 2 people in him. he seemed to demonstrate his liking of a person by reflecting them. flowing through the veins of the tree of life...purplemaplesyrup

The name of this artwork is called Höra Ihop which is Swedish for Belong Together. I should probably keep this to myself, but where I live, ihop means the international house of pancakes, so when I saw the Swedish name, my mind thought 'pancake time' which in a way is a princey version of communion, seemed related to 'belong together' sorry, offtrack flowing through the veins of the tree of life...purplemaplesyrup

It was in the Omnibus : Prince Rogers Nelson documentary (BBC 1991). Neal Karlen was the journalist from Rolling Stone asking him about his reputation as a control freak. Prince answered he had to protect himself. It's almost at the end of the documentary, at about the 57:00 mark.

I read this on another forum today:
"“He said to me that we were each other in another life, and I believe that.” -Vanity
The quote from Vanity is from an interview with her in Playboy April 1988. You can find the quote here: http://fuckyeahh1980s.tumblr.com/post/139414687210/fuckyeahh1980s-vanity-vanity-gave-an [Edited 5/10/16 20:18pm]

Yeah, as my friend G use to say. Every woman after Vanity, he tried to re-create them in her image.

Plus her image is iconic, of course he is gonna try to re-create, but lets face it she was the OG Muse. I got me a pair of those boots like the ones she wore [Edited 5/11/16 0:35am] [Edited 5/11/16 0:37am] Keep Calm & Listen To Prince

I found this site a day or two after Prince passed and have been reading and lurking ever since..I joined some days ago but have been waiting to post n reply. Its been excruciating!! And i know some of the things ive wanted to say have been lost from my head but hopefully i can bring these things back up from my subconscious when i come across a specifically related post topic...Anyway, i first heard Prince in 1980, was a huge devotee for about 14 yrs til U2's Achtung Baby and the alt scene dragged me away...And even tho im an astrologer n a enthusiast of the esoteric, i found the name change to a symbol highly arrogant;of course i wasnt fully aware of the reasons behind it. In any case, when i heard Prince died it hit me harder than i thought it could...More than MJ or Whitney or Bowie..It actually came closer to how i felt about Glenn Frey passing, tho this is even more intense...Ive learned so much about Prince from reading so many threads and posts on here....I wish i had kept up on his music n his life. I hope he isnt watching n brooding over all that has happened n continues to happen after he passed. But i prefer to believe hes off making his celestial music somewhere with the masters, and his twin flame Vanity. Because thats what they were. They were a mirror to each other, their lives followed a similar path, except perhaps for the drug abuse, but its uncanny how their lives ran parallel in a sense, being the same age and dying within a couple of months of each other...And the eerie numbers/numerology coincidences that have been posted. Tho i dont believe in coincidence. I prefer the term synchronicities. I believe Prince's passing(and many prophetic lyrics)and his spiritual philosophies have shed a light on the world to see..It is all of you devoted admirers of his that have recognized many of these things. And i bet many of you never even thought in those terms before other than to decipher The Purple One's cryptic clues. He has made you AWARE. He has left behind all of this for all of you, knowing you will see and understand. He left behind a vault full of his 'work' and who knows what else. He was a weird and ferociously brilliant man. A typical Gemini in attitude, behavior art and public persona. His loss to this world is inestimable and I plan to hear every bit of music he did. I read a couple posts on Jill Jones' FB page and i think she recognized a deep spiritual truth..That many of the highly evolved spiritual 'masters' have been leaving the earth recently...What is left behind, or in line to take their place is a mystery...There will never be another like Prince. Or Bowie. And that makes me very sad... This forum has been a comfort and it moves me deeply to seehow u all have been the same to each other. I believe thats how his Purple Majesty planned it to be. In any case, when i heard of the emergency plane landing and then his (too quick) assurances that he was fine, i did not believe it at all and felt something worse was going to happen. Unfortunately that feeling was correct 😦 "Almost all art is trying to become an anaesthetic and at the same time a healing session drawing up the magical electrics.”

Maybe I missed it in this thread but did he ever try to get back with vanity ? I also wonder if he never got back with any of his exes because they were no longer attractive to him since he preferred young women. The Dionne song-- I recent read it was a song dedicated to Dionne Farris that sang I know What You're Doing. He came to see her and left a hand written note.

I guess he liked being surrounded by young people, be it girlfriends, friends, or co-workers because they inspired him and kept him young. I think he did try getting back with Denise from what I've read in this thread and it does seem they lived parallel lives. Love is God,

My thinking for their not reconciling had some to do with Denise's fear of the past and getting back into the Hollywood lifestyle she had left behind. Only my thoughts.

Check out what Dionne Farris said http://dionnefarris.com/index.html
From what I have read about Dinner with Delores, was Delores was a metaphor for Warner Brothers being so hungry for him and wanting to screw him over.
Someone also said it was about a woman trying to censor him.

In 1994 Prince released the album 'Come' This was after Vanity/Denise was in the hospital and almost died. The last song was called "Orgasm' and used Vanity's moans she had recorded for 'Vibrator.' It's a very hot number. At the very end of the song and the album, Prince clearly says 'I love you'. On the liner notes for the song it says "She knows".
There is a rumor that he put this song on the album so she could collect royalties on the album sales - to help her pay her medical expenses.
In 1995, on March 25th, Vanity got married to Anthony Smith, a very tall and big football player. She had known him for just a month and had asked him to marry her after just 3 days. It was a total surprise and on April 17th the couple was on the cover of Jet magazine, and the story inside had all these photos of the two at their new home doing things couples do. It was reported that Prince was shocked and devastated, and this is when the rumors of him marrying Mayte started.
Perhaps the marriage to Mayte was a rebound. i'm not saying he didn't love her, but he may have taken the plunge because Vanity was now 'gone'.
30yearfan already detailed how the song 'One of your tears' might be describing the photos.

thanks for your thoughtful post! If the song "sometimes it snows in april" is prophetic then i feel good that prince is now "a whole lot better off than he was before" but as usual the sadness is 4 those of us left behind but i feel on many levels he is here and alive. enjoy delving in2 his music!

just more random musings here:
the band "vanity 6" -- i know i read that the 6 referred to members' 6 breasts, but i was wondering if it was also about the 6th sense or double the 3rd eye, since vanity is prince's double. its cool how prince's final avatar seems to say that he will always be watching with his 3rd eye and we should do that too.

I felt sadness when MJ died, but in some way, I felt as if now he could be at peace. I think knowing how deeply troubled he was made it easier to let him go. For Prince, it's not going to be so easy. For one thing, I was more of a Prince fan than MJ and while I knew some of his romantic history, it was not something I followed very closely. He didn't have the scandals like MJ or have a family that was in the public eye constantly. His life was largely private. When I heard Denise had passed away, I really didn't think much about Prince other than she was his girlfriend/ protege at one time.
If indeed he was depressed & incredibily grief stricken over Denise's death because she was his soulmate/twin flame all this time, and this was one of the big contributing factors to his death, then I can let him go. He is "a whole lot better off than he was before" and he doesn't have to "cry for love or cry for pain" anymore.

Prince randomly mentions Vanity while talking to Jet about Mayte his wife.
'He is thankful for his wife's loving support. "Through her eyes I could see different things."
He mentions his former famous friendship with his protege Vanity, who is now an evangelist. "Everyone thought I was going to marry Vanity. She is where I am right now. She's connected with her spirit. I heard her say she was worrying about my spirit, but everything is OK,” he says happily.'
- Prince in Jet, Nov 6, 1995 right after he lost his child.
In mid1998 Prince buys a mansion in Marbella and essentially ships Mayte off to live there. They are basically separated and he has promoted Mani to be his personal assistant. [Edited 5/11/16 16:27pm]
