Here's my experience Started my day taking a guided tour of First Avenue. What a treat! There was so much to see and it tied in perfectly to my visit to Paisley Park. My scheduled PP tour was 4:20 to 6:00pm I was surprised to see the lack of traffic, got there early and had time to do some shopping (target) and eat lunch (axels). The town of Chanhassen is nice and pleasant, I can see why Prince chose to live there. I showed up to PP at exactly 4pm, My VIP ticket let me park there at PP. I went in, my ticket was scanned and I was directed to the left to get my purple wrist band and was able to purchase my PP USB jump drive ($10). The tour then started, beginning in the atrium ( small displays of guitars and other items) and of course his Remains I'm told were in a display in the center. Then we went to his office and the editing room where we watched video of a pre show rehearsal of the musicology concert in DC. The tour continued with us going to several rooms including studio A, PR room, sound stages, etc. being a fan I was excited to finally see PP and also sad to be there, the place where he died. It was nice to see all the costumes, instruments, and other Prince belongings. I mean just to be there was an honor and it seemed so peaceful at PP, I can see why Prince thought of it to be such a special place. The tour ended after the sound stages and led into a tent where souvenirs were sold. I did meet a few nice people during the tour. There was a woman who was crying thru most of the tour. I really felt her pain but could see that she needed to be there to finish healing. Another woman was a super Prince fan and was nice to talk to while in line. We shared stories about going to past Prince concerts. Then there was another woman who I wish would have booked another tour. She was annoying to say the least. She pushed her way to the front of every exhibit and room. Had something to say or complain about everything during the tour, she told the tour guide to turn off her radio because she didn't come to hear Her radio! The girl told her she had to keep it on to get tour info on going to next rooms. Then when it came to taking a picture by the piano the woman wasn't pleased with her pics so she demanded to re take them. The guy told her ok but to get to the end of the line, she refused and skipped to the front to take another set of pics ( which I'm sure came out just as ugly as the first set lol) anyway, was glad to attend the very first day that Paisley Park was open to the public as a museum. Truly a historic day that I will always remember.

So VIP can park at Paisley Park now? I thought everyone, VIP included had to park at that parking garage down the road?

I want to know as well because I'm driving and I have VIP. Please do tell.

The only thing that worries me is when she sais they're going to remix the music. I do hope it stays as untouched as possible. No some hip sounding Remixes and reworkings.

And no "duets!" shake

Duets! Oh no, please no.

This is a bunch of awesomeness right here.

“The artist’s sister and nephew, Tyka and President Nelson, collaborated with Foreverence artists and craftspeople on an original concept that symbolized the Prince’s home, recording studio and sanctuary,” according to the press release. It continues:

Made of ceramic and glass and measuring 19” x 18” x 14,” the urn features several distinctive elements that reflect the artist’s personality. Tyka Nelson hand‐selected seven iridescent crystals – representing the artist’s favorite number – to be part of the urn design and placed the final jewel in the piece herself. The urn opens up to reveal lighting and scale‐model details from Paisley Park, including the main atrium, Prince’s famous purple Yamaha piano and white ornamental doves.

I think in time people will come to appreciate it. It's initially jarring, but even now the more I hear the more it's settling in with me. He is literally still there, greeting everyone coming through the door. It'll take time, but oddly I'm coming to the conclusion this is what he wanted.

My tour was at 9:30am. I think we were the first group inside of Paisley Park. Here's a bit of what I observed/experienced. (Sorry ahead of time for typos etc. If only you knew how long I drove from home lol)

The Reactions From "Fans": Everyone I talked to was very friendly. There were people from ALL over & some people from outside the U.S. Some people were quiet. Others mingled, in awe of the atmosphere. I personally was quite bummed (not becuase the tour wasn't amazing/life changing) because of the fact that Prince wasn't in the building alive & breathing.

Paisley Park GA Experience: AMAZING. I would have to actually talk to you guys on the phone to explain how wonderful this experience was for me. I'm nearly crying as I type this. The amount of LOVE that Prince put into Paisley Park is overwhelming. Its like I could feel his spirit through the entire place. While in the atrium, LONG BEFORE they told us about his remains being in the mini Paisley Park building, thats were I felt his spirit the most. It was very intense. Then when they actually told us that his remains were infront of us, I wanted to start crying. I just felt a deep sadness. In that same area they have many different rooms that were all open. Except for one room/closed space (basically a mini kitchen with comfy furniture) with see through glass, that has been left untouched. The tv was on the sports channel. Apparently, this room was kept just how Prince left it before he died. I'm telling you guys, I would have to talk on the phone to tell you about it all.

Taste Experience: I didn't purchase that before hand BUT I have the menu of everything that was served. The food smelled SO good! I could smell it while we were walking around PP. When I have enough time I can post a picture of it.

Merchandise Experience: I also have a picture of the list of everything that was sold today. The set up was quite smail. The line was SUPER long and a tad bit slow (not blaming them b/c of the last minute decision to reopen PP) The setup of the merchandise was neat. They had shirts, keychains necklaces, mugs & much more. I bought two shirts, a keychain and necklace. The tour guides told us that everything for sale in there had been approved by Prince & that this wasn't something they made up themselves (as far as the designs on tshirts & mugs etc)

Parking: We parked in a garage LITERALLY minutes from PP. Everything went smoothly. There were plenty of spaces. The buses were on time. The drivers were great/nice.

OVERALL I have nothing negative to say about this experience. The guides even told us at the end of the tour to feel free to voice our opinions about how they could make the tour even more enjoyable. It's such a shame that some people have it made up in their minds that everything about this is TERRIBLE & REPULSIVE when they have't been & don't plan to go. If you don't want to go then fine but don't make us feel bad. I know I LOVE and RESPECT Prince just as much as everyone else he's made an impact on.

It took me a little while to opened my laptop and type this. My emotions are up and down.. If you have anymore questions, i'd be glad to answer them.

Thank you for sharing this. I'm so happy for you and everyone else who got to experience it. smile It would be great if you shared your experience with Dr. Funkenberry. The positive experiences need to get out there as much as possible to drown out all this negativity. 🙏🏻💜

I'll have to look and see how I can share it with him. I'm just coming back home from Minn. smile

These reports sound so good. I hope the city council will consider meeting sooner and get this place open. I am so so so heartbroken my ticket for tomorrow got cancelled.

Aww I'm so sorry to hear that! Hopefully they get everything organized SOON. Everything will work itself out!

Thank you so much for sharing this...and am glad that you got so much out of being there. Frankly, I can't see anywhere else his ashes should be. Some of his latest words from concerts now make sense about the next time he would see them would be at PP and take care of it. I pray that it will remain open since it sounds like P put so much into it as a lasting gift. Thanks again

No problem. Yea, I feel the same way. I'm glad his ashes are there right in the center of the atrium. You can definitely feel his spirit thoughout PP. His ashes aren't "on display" like many have assumed. We wouldn't have even known that they were in the replica of the mini PP, if the tour guides wouldn't have told us. I was very respectful in my opinion.

Prince wanted PP to become a museum. The reason they were able to get it up so quickly is because he was actively working on turning it into a museum when he died. There was detailed plan that he came up with. For all we know, he may have wanted his remains to stay there as well.

Well said TM.

Remember, it's not what you want but what Prince wanted for his fans. I too am happy Prince's ashes are there. As long as its appropriately done, I have no problem with it. His doves, candles and warm light.... a place where fans can reflect and say "Thank You Prince".

Tyka's exact words.... about knowing Prince would pass soon. http://www.etonline.com/n...two_years/

Yes, we've seen the clip. No one's doubting she said that. I'm doubting HE said what she's asserting. It's in direct contrast to what she said on Today.

I do not believe he told her he had 2 years left.

Maybe she will elaborate on it someday; I read somewhere here that Prince and Tyka were seen 2gether at the last get-together at Paisley Park a few days b4 he died sitting across each other and were just quiet while looking at each other. I wonder what their last conversation was. sad I'm very close 2 my only sister and we talked about everything and she knew me more than anyone else in the world. I imagine that's the kind of relationship Prince had with his sister.

Spread the word because the impression out there is these are on display just like any other artifact. I never believed that but it's good to get confirmation.

I did search on news for PP opening last night and came across one that looked like a newsroom discussion where they reported people on the tour held his ashes! We know that isn't true but that was reported. Wish I could say which news outlet it was. It was late and I looked at so many. Not a good thing to be put out there.

The only thing that worries me is when she sais they're going to remix the music. I do hope it stays as untouched as possible. No some hip sounding Remixes and reworkings.

And no "duets!" shake

Duets! Oh no, please no.

Not like Justin Timberlake and MJ... barf

Nooooo!!!
shake

Oh please no!!!! Forgot about that option..... that would be a nightmare!

Picture I took of PP Merchandise List Oct 6th 2016. A little blurry BUT I tried lol cool

I presume that's the Piano & A Microphone tour book? I really wish they were selling them via mail order - I'm in the UK and would love to get hold of a copy...

I looked through the book just a little bit. It has the date Oct 6 on it. Its basically a tribute book full of photos of Prince.

Oh wow smh.
