Did you use a debit card? I work for a bank. Debit cards work differently than credit cards. With a debit card the bank can only dispute the charge once the item has posted (no longer pending) because at the point the merchant has your money. While it's pending the amount is basically in "limbo" status. It's been deducted from your account but they (the merchant) don't actually have the funds yet. And the bank cannot place a stop payment on a debit card authorization the way they can a check or an ACH debit. Not sure with a credit card though....

You could tell this was going to happen because the site was badly managed from day one. If you can't even reach a rep via email or phone and have no way to cancel the recurring charge, the only option would have been to cancel your credit card and/or get a new number. If I were in charge of Prince's web presence I would make sure that there is no yearly fee. Offer a free site, and allow users to sign up monthly, with clear ways for them to cancel if they want or need to.

Next time, Prince shouldn't hire someone from LA to make a glossy, empty and unsecured website. Hire someone who is skilled at designing a web 2.0 site that is secure and manageable.

Considering many people's cards are getting charged already, I would urgently advise members to contact their credit card company.

If you have been charged, explain the situation to them and kindly request them to try and get your money back. Do not just take no for an answer. There is usually something they can do. If you have not been charged, ask them to block your card for any lotusflower payments.

And, if you haven't already don't forget to cancel your membership . Save a copy of the email as proof.

To claim that they didn't know this would happen is utter BS.

Fact - They held onto original CC information even though many changed it

Fact - Even we saw this coming...how could they not

Fact - The website is DOWN DOWN DOWN. Someone somewhere did that.

Fact - They have not responded to any member requesting that their membership NOT be renewed.

Fact - There is NOWHERE on the site to cancel your membership. It is as if it was designed so you couldn't cancel.

Fact - They have KNOWN that the fans have NOT been happy with the site and have even circumvented the site with content that eventually ended up on the site. They MUST be aware of the complaints and that many would NOT be signing up for year 2.

And now they are going to send a notice to post here? LAME LAME LAME!

A simple apology is not going to suffice. I doubt they will get anywhere with refunding peeps money...they couldn't even get the dang shirts out correctly.

I don't know if I am remembering wrong, but when I signed up, it sounded like I'd be locked into a membership for 5 years and that my credit card would automatically be charged each year. I agreed to be locked in for 5 years - it seemed like a long time, but I wanted to be in. So I'm finding it strange that people are getting so upset when the very thing that they agreed to is happening on schedule. Feel free to correct me by posting the original terms, because I am getting old and might not remember things so well.
