Were seats AA-EE actually sold? I bought an Ultimate Package (1st five rows) and my ticket is just "A". AA-EE are optional seats when an orchestra isn't playing.

Interesting.... Maybe you should check your email Eyasha. Look for an email labelled 'Important Event Information | Prince.

There was some sort of stuff up with Premium seats - maybe Ultimate as well. I had a Premium seat, it was in DD - then I got an email on Friday evening informing me that my ticket has been relocated five rows back to B.

If your seat has been changed, please let me know. A few of us are enquiring about this situation with Ticketmaster

You were right. Although I didn't receive any email other than my ticket confirmation when I went into my Ticketmaster account I found that they had changed my seat. I'm now in DD (second row from the front). They haven't breached the conditions of the the Ultimate Package because I'm still within rows 1-5. For Premium your row B is probably right (rows 6-15?). The decision to put seats in the Orchestra Pit should have been made a lot earlier so that when people went on line they got the ticket they paid for. Not sure, but their Terms and Conditions probably say they can reallocate seats as long as they are in the same price range or package deal.

Probably right? Well, except for the fact that when I chose to part with my money, I had been allocated a ticket much closer to the stage.

Interestingly, both the Australian Ballet and Austraian Opera use this theatre regularly. Neither of them sell the orchestra pit seats (because the orchestra is there!). The front rows are A reserve and their premium tickets are several rows back - maybe row E or so?

I agree you didn't get what you thought you were buying at the time. I checked their website and it says that Ticketmaster has no control over changes made at the venue. Orchestra Pit tickets are on sale for the Rockquiz show in March when the band will be on the stage. At the time I bought my ticket (before they added the Orchestra pit) I wondered how it would work with Prince so far from the audience. If you hadn't told me to check my tickets I would have turned up on the night without a clue.

Congragulations to 3News for the trite and shallow coverage.

Agree wholeheartly, what a load of tripe

doody

TV one was no better, saying tickets sold out and showed a couple of crazy people buying them. Like the Herald video, why do they have to show the crazy ones who look like they talk to their soft toys. These are the type of ladies, who Prince is scared of, like the heffa who grabbed him on stage. I know it sounds sexist, but if Prince is watching this shit, what wil he think.

I even sent the Herald an email requesting them to talk to me if they wanted to an interview on a huge Prince fan before the show, no response.

Even worse was Mike Hosking referring to Prince fans as fanatics and bragging the whole office could name only 3 Prince songs.
[Edited 2/10/16 23:37pm]

Hoskings is a far right tosser so we should be proud the buffoon can only name 3 tunes.

Agree, right wing dickhead and a racist who hates gays and the left wing. Then again most of TVNZ is right wing and racist, honestly how many Maori, Pacific Islander and Asian people do you see on TVNZ, other tha ones in the news for sports (Mostly rugby and league), crime stories, stories about being disadvantaged or ones about them claiming land.

.

NZ is now 25% Maori and Islander along with a large population of Asian, Indian and Middle Eastern people, yet TVNZ only ever shows white New Zealanders of the middle and upper class. Even worse was Mike did not even name the 3 songs and only Purple Rain was mentioned by the female. I mean I am a Carlton type brown guy, and even I find that channel offensive.

I find it hard to believe that they'll be able to process 2000 tickets with all the rigmarole required in a mere six-and-a-half hours - that works out at five a minute when one every five minutes would be closer to the mark - and that's assuming everyone turns up at noon.

It will be even worse in practice, when half the audience turns up with only an hour left to curtain time.

Surely they will just check our photo ID when we collect our tickets and wrist bands and just give them to us in envelopes... I can't imagine they will make us put them on straight away so we have to wear them all afternoon like children!!

One way to avoid that problem, will be to avoid the two rushes

1. Between 12 and 1 with all the excited people wanting to go first.

2. 5.30pm to 6.30 all the laties and workers showing up

.

My solution - Strike for 3pm

.

Besides theres a good chance, we will all be dwelling in buzz of other Prince fans.

I got the impression that the wristband will be put on when the tickets are collected so that they are not sold off with the ticket by scalpers.By the way they said any lost or damaged ones will not be replaced. I think they will be like the hosptial ones that you cannot take off unless you cut them off? I dont know though, when I rang the SOH on the Thursday they were still trying to work it all out themselves. We are all going to be interested to see how it works out with the Melbourne shows first.

The anti scalping thing is working here at least. Looking at Trade me, where 90% of scalped tickets would be offered, there are none for Prince, the only Prince stuff are CD's and the like.

I agree that the instructions are to rock up, prove ID & show credit card & the bracelet is put on the person (one of the sticky ones that if u try to remove it breaks).

So there should be an email from ticketek/Syd opera house/Ticketmaster advising people to arrive by 5:30 for the 6:30 show (or even earlier if more time required).
Let's say p is on stage at 7 then that allows him to play til 9.

Which would mean then he'll be back on stage at 10.30 , but would he play til 12:30? (& 10pm people should arrive no later than 9 -but here too consider massive inflow/outflow of people).

Then if there is an aftershow, people in Sydney have to be in before the "lockout" (which is 1:30 right?) so it had better be close by so people attending the 10pm show can get there by 1:30. Very tight.

This is the complete instructions from a Ticketmaster NZ email receipt for this concert. It doesn't say anything about needing to bring your companion when "collecting":

"You will receive your tickets via: Venue Pickup.

All Venue Pickup tickets must be collected and personally signed for by the credit card holder who is the only person authorised to collect tickets. For identification purposes the credit card holder must present personal ID, the credit card which was used when purchasing the tickets and the account confirmation number. Please note for some events, tickets can only be picked up from the venue on the event day once doors have opened."

Despite the line that Auckland sold out within minutes, at no point since Thursday have I not been able to see tickets on Ticketmaster. It's only been singles for the late show but now there's singles for both shows including a row D for the late show and a bunch of options to buy pairs for the late show. I'd love to attend a lecture on how ticket sales work. It's mind boggling.

I'm also sick of seeing people moan on FB that they missed out and claiming how they are in tears when there's still tickets and they just haven't had the nous to keep trying.

I picked up a pair of $200 tickets today for Auckland 10pm. I tried everyday since the minute they came out. I had plenty of chances to get $400 tickets but the $200 tickets always showed as unavailable/sold out....til today!?

It's weird how there's still tickets available to Auckland and Melbourne. There's no way I thought it would still be possible. There's still good $400 seats to Melbourne.

State Theatre Sydney still has Premium VIP for the 10pm show. They are offering Stalls Row P for $771.89. I got Stalls Row Q for $400. So an extra $371.89 for the row in front of me. Lol.

Just called State Theatre Melbourne seeking some clarity regarding ticket collection and wrist banding procedures. Have been told that the ticket purchaser AND guest must collect tickets together at box office, where both will also be wristbanded. Was also sternly reminded that if the wristband is damaged in any way it will not be replaced, nor will admission to the performance occur.
