I'm not sure how you guys can afford $400 for a ticket. Hats off to you. I'm kind of glad I'll be on holiday at that time, so I'm not tempted to do the same. I mean, I know it will be a great experience. But $400 eye watering

Has anyone received an email from Ticketmaster advising them that the tickets they purchased were incorrect, and they're now allocated in seats further away from the original seats?

I purchased 2 VIP tickets to the 17 Feb Melbourne concert at 10pm for awesome seats 16 and 17 (middle!) in row BB on Tuesday shortly after the system opened for ticket sales.

6 minutes after the Ticketmaster call centre closed today, I receive an email from Ticketmaster advising me that their records display "an incorrect seating location on your email confirmation" and I've now been given seats 12 and 13 in row C, and they're giving me $100 in Ticketmaster credit for my troubles. They're so sneaky with the wording: I saw that I had seats in BB on the Ticketmaster website, not just on the subsequent email from them, that's why I purchased the tickets in the first place.

Had I been given the option, I would have gone for better seats (even possibly purchasing the Ultimate Fan seats).

Has this happened to anyone else? I'm in disbelief.

It is a struggle for me that's for sure (all 4 shows at $400 each). 2 weeks pay I spent. But I think in a few years the money will be forgotten about but the memories will still be there.

Yes, that is how I am looking at it too, that once it is paid you forget about the cost and then have the memory of the event. it is extravagent but thankfully it only comes around every so often. But I understand it is a lot of money indeed.

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

I bought two $397 tickets for the Sydney State Theatre shows and they are in row B. I was puzzled to get that close since the VIP seating takes up 16 or so rows. unless they raided the seat plan?
I guess we'll find out in a week. I hope I don't receive some email ticketmaster!

Dispute it with them, you paid for a premium product and therefore they can not change the conditions of the contract once it has gone through. Stick to your guns. In New Zealand they could complain to the commerce commission and Ticketmaster would be in deep shit. They can not include their Insurance defence, you paid for a product and should be compensated in cash, not some useless credit.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Thanks for the advice. I tried calling them as soon as I received the email but they've timed it perfectly, so no contact with them until Monday. I agree that they haven't got a defence: i just wished I took a screenshot of the web confirmation after my CC details went through; I can see they're going to go with "email glitch" as a defence when I push it further (and I will!), hence their carefully worded email. Well, since the Australian execs are washing their hands of it, I suppose the only thing I can do now is executive email bomb the corporate team at LiveNation in USA as they're getting up in 3 hours wink Will keep you posted! If anyone else finds themselves in the same situation (and I really hope they don't - it's crushed my excitement in the lead up to next Wednesday), please let me know.

Just read your post and checked my email. I am in the same situation. Seems very dodgy and definitely extremely disappointing.

Plus - right now I can buy a ticket to the same concert several rows in front of my newly allocated seat for a price well below what I paid for as a premium allocation.

Given they seem unable to fulfill my original purchase with them, I have purchased a new ticket and will be seeking a refund for my incorrectly allocated ticket.

I have a screenshot. I was so excited to make it through the wait time and get a ticket I took a picture. Happy to share it with you if that helps.

If it was TicketMaster's error in allocating seats to the wrong category, surely they should wear any consequences, not the customer.

The email is addressed from Customer Service. I note it doesn't even provide any details on how to contact them regarding any further enquiries. #CXFail

EDIT: On reexamination there is a link to contect them in the very small fine print at the bottom of the email. Still a fail in my books.

Is it to do with them fitting extra seats in? Is it for the sidney opera house?

What cannot be explained about this situation: If the concert has been sold out, how can they so easily reallocate all of the Premium VIP packages to seats further back that were presumably available for sale to other customers...

Does not add up.

By the way, the subject line in the email from TicketMaster is simply:

Important Event Information | Prince

Don't overlook this email as I originally did, expecting it was just information about not allowing phones, collecting the tickets in person with photo ID, the wristbanding procedure etc etc

I don't know what their game is, but there's some kind of ticket manipulation going on by the promoters/ticketers...
First both Auckland shows were sold out in ten minutes.

Then you could still get single tickets later that day for $400.

The next day it says "LIMITED TICKETS REMAINING!" on ticketmaster.

And now today they've taken that warning away and there are apparently good tickets available.

Also, the ratio of issued tickets in the different tiers seems to be more than 20 to 1 (guessing) in terms of the $400 tickets to the lower priced ones, which are almost non existent. They dangle the idea that lower priced tickets are available to lure people in, but then give you the ultimatum of buying a $400 ticket or nothing. That's a lot of money!

Unfortunately, these are the new Ticketmaster practices not only for your concerts but for those of other artists and in other countries. They should be investigated for fraudulent practices; seems as though these games are crossing the line of bait ad switch...

I called and tried to exchange my package ticket to a normal ticket. They explained to me that downgrading is not possible, only upgrading would be possible.

They also explained why there were tickets still available despite being sold out: Apparently lots of people bought more than two tickets (on the Sydney Opera House website you can buy as many tickets as you want). They went through all the orders and adjusted all orders with more than two tickets and put them up for sale again.

If anyone is interested in my $750 package with the perfect seat let me know, I would be happy with any other cheaper ticket instead.

On Ticketmster NZ (both the website and the mobile App), you could only purchase two tickets, so that ain't it....

Are you sure? Once you have the tickets in your cart, you can usually add additional tickets of other or the same event to your shopping cart. You just have to go back or search for another/same event and add more. You do that multiple times andend up with a bunch of tickets.

Does anyone know if VIP seats to the Sydney Opera House shows are availble throught Ticketek or just the Opera House website?

I have a category A but I want to upgrade to VIP. The only problem is that 2 different sites handle the different ticket types.

I don't even know if they are still available. The website where you are supposed to buy them (http://www.sydneyoperahouse.com/whatson/prince_packages.aspx) only sells normal tickets.

But if you want you can have mine.

Thanks for the offer PurpleVIP. I ended up buying an Ultimate VIP package to the 10pm Sydney show at the Opera house. Now I'm stuck with a Category A I can't sell (due to the rules) and can't get a refund on. I knew that before I bought the VIP so it's my decision and I'm not complaining. I was very unhappy with the location of it. Circle 2 Row M. In other words right up the back. From my interpretation of the map (excluding the boxes to the sides and at the back of the stage;

From closest to farthest it's;

Stalls then Circle 1 and then Circle 2 (which is the farthest section from the stage) and I had Circle 2 row M! How bad for $400!

Actually if I'm not mistaken if U bring the buyer with you for your extra ticket when U go pick them up, U can have him wristbanded at the same time... As long as the tix are under your name and you're there to pick them up with your party you should be ok I think... I'm sure there will be people outside the venue looking for tickets as well the day of the show...

. Have an amazing time, it's an Amazing SHOW!! biggrin
