Full credit to the Aus ticketing agencies.

Those vip packages are really great value.

Not only do you get the same tickets as the $400 purchase but for a measly extra $600 you get a glass of champagne (not really champagne) a couple of VBs and a fucking mushroom vol au vent. And if that wasn't enough to entice you you get to walk across a red carpet. Yes, that's right. RED. Plus to get to buy a t shirt before anyone else gets to buy a t shirt.

But that's not all.

Call in the next 15 minutes and for a small $1000 admin fee, they'll chuck in the multi million dollar inheritance of a recently deceased and childless Nigerian Prince.

You can't say the full ticket price, excluding the VIP ticket scam, is overpriced if the concerts sell out, because that means people, like us, were prepared to pay that amount.

By the way, love those photos of inside the opera house. It makes me feel much better about where I am sitting.

New Zealand Herald has run a story showing the ticketing process as a Debacle in australia. Good on ya Herald, not.

.

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/entertainment/news/article.cfm?c_id=1501119&objectid=11587366

.

Just to show you guys how out of touch the NZ Herald is, the picture they use is from 1995 in the Godl Experience/Live Experience era. All you Americans and Europeans, the paper is militantly right wing and racist and is so far out of touch with Aucklanders its not true. Recycled news, Cat up a tree articles and too many pull out Lifestyle type magazines aimed at super rich people. Auckland is some 50% Non white, but the news in the NZ Herald is strictly aimed at White Middle and upper class people.

.

Referred to as the Granny Herald (Started in 1863), the paper often posts racial statistics, race baiting articles and uses archaic language (It referred to Diana Ross in 1978 as a "Singing Negress"). Since 2005 they have gone tabloid and got rid of the gutbucket racism and shaggy dog tales, and now we have 22 year old journalists who can not use spellchecker.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Lust,

If possible try and line up at the venue. I read on here at 11.30am that someone was lining up at opera house. Not sure how they went but I thought-'damn, why didn't I think of that.' Obviously with less than 30 minutes before they went on sale I had no time to get there but seeing it took me 2 hours before I got tiks, I could have made it more than comfortably and probably got better tiks!

So if you are nearby call the venue and see if they are selling or go to a ticketmaster outlet. We have all got caught up with technology and sometimes can't see outside the square but I'm sure in the case of Prince it will always be easier to get tiks old school way.

Ha ha ha, sorry I had to laugh at this. I gave up on the NZ Herald as my source of news along time ago but I never thought it was that bad. Maybe I've just forgotten.

Anyway what's the deal about giving away HITNRUN Phase II at the concert? I hadn't read this anywhere unless I missed it.

The only positive I can take away from the ticket price is that it means the casual concert goers were put off and didn't end up buying a ticket meaning us Prince fans had more of a chance to snap up a ticket.

Having said that though, everyone has different monetary situations and to outlay $400 is not always possible. I feel for anyone that missed out because of this.

I think they organised it last minute when they saw demand was high and that they could extend the amount of tickets that were at the $400 mark to almost the whole venue. They thought let's organise putting in a CD that way people will be less likely to complain because they are getting something for it.

My way of thinking is that surely Prince lets promoter know his price per show. Let's say $200,000 plus expenses. Then it is up to the promoter to find venue, etc etc and sell tickets. Prince gets his 200K no matter what. The promoter can charge whatever he wants to the show. I'm happy I eventually got tiks but I'd be happier if I knew that the majority of the money goes to Prince and only a little bit to the promoter. Unfortunately with the ways the ticket prices were manipulated I am assuming that the promoter made a huge chunk of the profit for very little risk.

Whats the likelihood of all the $750 and $950 tickets being sold? And if they aren't what happens with the empty spots if they aren't all sold? Are they re-released at the discounted rate? It works out that there are about 450 $750 tickets and 280 $950 tickets.

According to the Doc: http://www.drfunkenberry....2-million/

"Yes, to book the greatest live performer of all time, it will cost you $1.5 million to $2 million dollars. No word if that is for a few songs to be performed or for an entire show."

Anyone know exactly what the capacity of SYD Opera House is? I've found mixed answers online.

Even at 5,000 x $400 per ticket = $2 million AUD which is less than the $1.5 million USD he 'commands' per show

Someone mentioned capacity of the Opera house is around 2700. If all the $750 and $950 tickets are sold it's approximately 700 seats at $600,000. Anyones guess how many $400, $200 and $100 seats come out of the remaining 2000.

^^ But apparently the opera house is not even using full capacity for the prince show

the seats behind and around the rear of the stage will be curtained off. my mate who lined up at the opera house was told this by a staff member before he purchased tickets.

it's actually very hard to know the exact amount of tickets sold to the public. the Ticketek CEO was quoted as saying 1500 were on sale in a news story yesterday. im hoping he meant per show!

OK so with that in mind there are approximately 290 $750 and 150 $950 seats. 440 seats $360,000

Prince would be getting around 800K to a million or more per show flat fee regardless of sales I would think.

Tickets have come along way in corporate greed since the 1960s.

I just read that in 1965, a ticket to the Rolling Stones Concert in Invercargill cost 5/- (About 60 cents) and that no ticket to an Auckland show cost over 13/6 or $1.35 in modern money.

.

By 1986 tickets to Dire Straits or U2 at Lancaster Park in Christchurch cost $21.00 and there was no ticketing fees, taxes or any fees.

.

By 1996, a ticket to Michael Jackson at Mt. Smart cost between $49.95 and $150.

.

So why is it now some tickets are breaking the $1000 barrier?

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

logistically it is surely going to be a nightmare collecting our wristbands and showing ID etc when everyone is arriving around the same time?? That's a thousand odd people to get through in a pretty short window of time so its looking like we're all going to have to get there really early to avoid unneeded stress!!

If you can, get away from work and go early afternoon, that's the way to go.

Here's my day planened out*

Plan 1.

08.45 AM Be at the Fox Bar in Auckland's Viaduct to watch Arsenal v Barcelona.

10.30 AM A nice brunch somewhere with fellow fans (Arsenal or Prince - Don't care)

12.00 PM collect tickets and wrist bands.

12.15 PM A sunny spot by the water for a few cheeky beers. (not too many or the dam will burst)

2.00 PM Go home and watch Prince videos with a couple of mates also going to the shows.

4.00 PM, Shower, shit and a shave

4.15 PM Uber.

4.35 PM Realise I'm in town way too early and have nothing to do but drink which I don't want.

4.36 PM JB HI-FI (troll music counter by asking release date for my own non existent album)

6.00 PM Early arrival for show one.

8.00 PM Off to Depot for some of Auckland's finest grub.

10.00 PM A more relaxed arrival time for show two.

12.00-8.00 AM Lie awake in bed. I can't sleep. I'm now on a downer that will last days.

*Itinerary conginent on aquiring tickets.

Plan Two.

Watch game at home.

Spend the res tof the day in bed in tears playing "A case of U" on repeat.

If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!

That takes a lot of work, the project scope would've been "Allow customers to book tickets on website". Nothing more nothing less. The desirables just take way too long to implement and it's a time/effort/cost vs reward thing. They're still going to get paid regardless.

I have a pending 'IT Support ticket' open with Ticketek to investigate why my credit card is blocked, up to 72 hrs to get a resolution.

Lucky Sydney Opera House website has a proper payment gateway and I got a ticket there instead which ended up being better than the ones Ticketek proposed to me anyway.
