The reason I bring it up... I have a feeling he is bringing 3rdEyeGirl exclusively for aftershows. They can sneak in an out with very little gear required. An interesting theory and this is Prince after all, you can never say never.

If I was him I would bring Kirk.

Wow me trying to get a ticket is becoming a comedy of errrors with Ticketek. Tried and finally secured a ticket to Opera House 10PM show. Yes!! great.. $400 I got this.

Credit Card details are updated on the Ticketek website = CHECK

1 Ticket selected = CHECK

Take a look at grand total = $1,300!!!!

WTF?

I inspect closer and it seems Ticketek still may have my intial 2 tickets I tried to book at midday today in the basket. Awesome, does that mean I can deselect the ticket I chose and opt for the other 2? = NO

Does it mean I can just de-select any combination of the existing tickets? NO

It's either I pay $1,300 or nothing. As much as I love Prince, I don't have that kind of money to throw around on one show.

I figured I'd call Ticketek directly, it's all automated AVR everything, no human to speak to. At this point I will concede defeat.

I've tweeted directly to Ticketek but I fear their Customer Service department may be as useful as their IT infrastructure.

Try emailing them. My wife had an issue with our tickets and they seemed to reply back fairly promptly with correct confirmation of what we were after.

Thanks,

I've tried that also. Now looks like those two tickets have disappeared out of my basket. The problem is though that I can't pay as it won't accept any of my credit cards.

I wish I could use the excuse of being computer illiterate and the fault lying on my end. I work in the industry.

Love your work. Will you be going to the concert with your SO? I'm laughing in my head about a possible discussion about how good your seats are for $99. biggrin

Has anyone actually managed to purchase a $100 or $200 ticket? It seems there aren't many of them.

At least 2 thirds of the State Theatre in Melbourne is premium $400 a ticket!!!

I love Prince and can afford it BUT there ain't no way I'm paying that much money for a show where there is just him and his piano. As brilliant as the music will be that's a rip off. His overheads will be bugger all and he stands to make over $200,000 at least per show (the shows will make $500,000 each!!).

When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

He'll just deduct the expenses from my budget for our planned kitchen renovation. Who needs an oven anyway?

My thinking exactly, I could possibly Just afford it, but when he doesnt have a single band member to pay and he is reaping such HUGE profits, HOW can you pay $400?

I see it hard for him to go back to playing (& paying) a band after this tour !!

Hard to believe I've been on the org for over 25 years now!

Yes, I got two $200 tickets for the Wedn 6.30 show, up in the balcony.

I was sitting hunched over a computer with my heart pounding from about 11.52 am onwards; I didn't know whether the page would autorefresh, so I refreshed it myself with about 4 seconds of the countdown to go, ie 11.59.56 am.

I did everything as fast as I could (duh), and I was "in the queue for two minutes" it said, and then "one minute". Those were two long minutes. When it finally said yes, here are these two tickets, I clicked to buy them immediately as a reflex action.

I've seen P twice in concert now and have loved his guitar work both times (who wouldn't) but I've always wanted more piano from him both times, so this concert is my dream come true.

Congrats to all others who were lucky.

Looking at what's available now as of 6.30 pm, out of curiosity, it's only $400 tickets and all that I've seen of them are in the stalls, even in row V. So it looks as though the whole of the stalls was $400 or close to it.

Did anyone else have trouble finding the "delivery option" that Ticketmaster required once you'd bought the tickets?

I was seriously afraid I'd lose my tickets it took me so long to find that!

Well, that's called preying on the desperate, it is disgusting in my opinion. Showbiz are ripoff merchants.. But hey that's whats called 'business' these days.

The other fan package is just under $1000 and its practically the same as the $750 package.. Still the same $400 ticket ...

Screw all the real fans who missed out because of dodgy ticketing websites.. let's sell these exact same tickets at double the price and throw in a tshirt and glass of champagne.. that's worth an extra $500 right ?

TOTAL BS...

Lucky you, it seems the $100 and $225 tickets were literally the back 10 or so rows of both venues.. EVERY other ticket in the place was the $400 option..

The cheaper options were ALL gone in the 1st few minutes because there were so few of them actually available.. I was onto the State theatre site at 12.04 and there was nothing but $400 available by the time they came up on my screen..

Showbiz are basically touts. No other way to word it. Who makes the extra dollars from these prices. Does prince or does the up to extra six hundred dollars per tciket go to showbiz? This is awful and the fact that almost all tickets were at the highest price due to demand is also price gouging. How can someone in the front row pay the same as someone rows back? Doesn't happen for any other concert I have bought from opera house or any other venue.

Prince was trying to stop touts but all today did was stop scalpers. But we all got gouged.

Actually I agree 'Category A' tickets seems to be an awfully large category! It almost takes up the entire seating map from what I see! Where's the exclusivity of premium seat locations for the $400 outlay?

Wow what a saga to acquire 1 ticket at the Opera House. Eff Ticketek for real. Here's how it went down.

- Logged a support call with Ticketek = No issues on their end apparently, it's definitely my credit card.

- Called bank again 2nd time = No issues with the card, they can see other payments, confirmed billing address details etc. Never had a problem with this card.

- Called Visa Concierge to see if maybe they have better luck. They are able to get Ticketek Customer Service to book me a ticket. I give the guy my CC details, same thing = blocked. No issues reported all day on their end apparently.

I'm at the point of giving up, I have one final punt on the SYD Opera House site, 6:30PM session, select 1 ticket $400. I put my credit card details and it WORKED! It finally WORKED!

I have one ticket, don't care where I'm seated at this CIRCLE D . No Idea if it's any good but given the ordeal I've experienced I'm in submissive mode and will take whatever I can get.

Will keep an eye out to se if those Price gouged Premium Front Row tix are released back into general population though for the other 3 SYD shows.

TL;DR

Day started off crappy, finally got a ticket, I'm happy.

Well I paid 150 pounds, about 300 dollars years ago to see Barbara Strisand, It's the Legend status, your paying for! But the little amount of seats for smallest prices is still disappointing. A concert under 1.30 mins for those prices is also disappointing. If he comes to the UK with it I might have to pass, unless I start saving now!

Some desperate fans will end up paying for this unfortunately, doesn't help some on Twitter were talking these tickets up and promoting their awesomeness. It's a ridiculous additional outlay of money for very little extra. If it included access to a soundcheck as well as an 'afterparty' which would probably be just Prince DJ'ing then maybe there'd be value in it.

I have a feeling though that these tickets will be released into the general population somehow at their $400 value. We'll see.

If anyone is still after tickets to the SYD Opera House show, book directly via Sydney Opera House site.

I might have a drink beforehand but it won't be at the venue and it won't cost $350.

My only complaint is that the entire seating chart with categories and prices was not published in advance - and still hasn't been published as far as I know.

What Jonie Mitchell song(s) is he likely to perform? I don't know her catalogue that well, and I'd be interested to know in advance so that I can listen to her version and better understand P's take on it/them if and when I do hear him perform them.

Stall S and Circle H at the Opera House are hardly the positions you'd expect for paying a premium price. With the lack of a seating plan per price category layout and the time pressure when booking a ticket, it is a bit of a scam. I'm sure it is still going to be mind-blowingly fantastic though.

Do all tickets get collected from the venue? It seems like a lot of tickets to process on the day.
