Hoping someone will kindly answer before tomorrow....
I have two realistic choices for the shows, Vienna or Milan. Milan being very much preferred. However, the fact that its not confirmed is making me wonder if I should just try for Vienna even though a LOT harder to get to.
Does ANYONE havve more info on Milan????
Thanks
Go for Vienna. You won't regret it and it is more likely to happen. After that you will want to see a second show anyway. If Milano is cancelled, you won't be devastated.
Please keep me updated on how all of this works out for you. I'm really interested to know. |

When I heard about these solo shows I got excited. This could be something really special, but then I realized we're talking about Prince.
You knew it was Prince from the beginning so you're either excited or not
He'll do some half assed covers, a few medleys of his own songs and way too many fucking ballads in falsetto.
I don't get it, are you a fan or not? And you don't know the set-list
I wonder how much time and effort he put into this project.
Probably quite a lot. If you were a fan of Prince you would know by now that he is a perfectionist. Artists who consistently get 5 star reviews and can work crowds of any size, age, gender or whatever have to work hard to achieve that level. Have you ever seen anyone who sucks at live performing? There's a massive difference. Prince makes it look easy because of the work/rehearsal he puts in. You and I have no idea how much time he's prepared for this but based on how slick his over shows have been the past 30 years I'm going to have a stab that he puts in a lot of hours.
My main concern is that he came up with this shit 2 weeks ago and thinks he can sit down at his piano and just make shit up as he goes along.
Your concern is your right. If your glass is half empty and are more of a pessimist then here's the solution: don't buy a ticket (and even if he DID make it up as he went along, what other live performers would be as good as him at doing that?)

Bruxelles is supposed to be 100 euros a ticket original price. Standing or seating it says on www.onlineticketshp.nl.They charge 299 euros, though. They guarantee tickets. So for me that is a confirmation that they are sure about the gig. |

Not whining and nothing about being tight, just saying at those high end pricesit's not for me. Although 183 quid is a bit on the rude side. Have better and more important things to do with my 183 quid - or rather 366 as i'd pay for the other half too.
With travel, eating and drinking you're talking about at least 500 quid for a night out which, and tell me if i'm incorrect, is a lot of money for most people for one night.
For those with the spare dosh good luck and enjoy. Having seem him at the piano at a pre-gig warm up/rehersal a few years back i'm happy with that. |

I don't agree. If there's no concert they'll just send your money back with apologies (in the best case scenario).
Those scalper sites have shit reputations anyway, so they're not risking anything.
Further proof: they're also offering tickets for Prince at Werchter 2016... |

Do we have any info on what time the London curfew would be??

Brussels is DEFINITELY NOT CONFIRMED. I called the concert organiser today and they could not confirm the concert in Cirque Royale on 22th of Dec. Do not rely on these scalper websites, they are frauds for sure ! |

Not sure if you all know this already but Ticketmaster have stated its 2 tickets, per person across the entire tour. This seems to be in the Uk, don't know about elsewhere. If you go to http://www.ticketmaster.c...norcatid=1 and click on ticket limits you'll see the restrictions. Orders can be cancelled if ticket limits not adhered to. Was going to try and order for one show with my account and another with the husbands but don't know if that will work now as we share an address. |

ABC played there a couple of Sundays ago and curfew was either 10pm or 11pm depending on which site you look at. |

Yeah I read that and I hope I read it right that it does not apply for the ticket sale for Vienna tomorrow. They cannot cancel 2 tickets later if they sell 4 to you in Vienna right????? Birmingham is definitely maximum two tickets as well- with photo i.d. needed.
Probably not worth the risk of touted tickets if they're strict on that..... |

I haven't considered myself a fan for over a decade. Not sure what that has to do with anything though.
For crying out loud, Prince is not a perfectionist. Yes he used to put in a lot of work, but in recent years his shows haven't always been that great. At times he seemed bored and uninspired on stage. Prince was on auto-pilot, giving us more of the same. After 30+ years of practice all he had to do was make sure his bandmembers knew their part. His shows have been far from slick in recent years with too many pointless jams and back up singers doing covers. I'm glad he's doing something different this time. I'm not a fan anymore, but that doesn't mean I don't know Prince anymore. His performances at the AOA release party and the one on SNL sucked ass. An inspired, focussed, hard working perfectionist with his talent and experience wouldn't have allowed that to happen.
Luckily tickets won't be on sale in Holland til after the first few shows, so I don't have to make a decision yet. Trust me, if I don't like what I'm reading in the newspaper reviews and fan reports I will not get a ticket. |

....similar thoughts. What if some bought 2 tickets for themselves and a friend and someone at the same address (wife, son, flatmate, whatever!) bought 2 tickets for themselves and a.n. other? Would the orders be cancelled...to be fair, I agree with the limits in theory, but not sure that this is fair.

Hi - tickets for the London shows seem to be selling through both gigs and tours and ticket master. Any thoughts on how the tickets are allocated across the two promoters....I recall the HitNRun tour tickets only being sold though ticket master.
Just wondering what plan of attack folks are going for tomorrow to try and secure some tix?

Yeah i can see the point of the card and name restrictions as it gives more people a chance but the address is a strange one and will throw up anomalies. |

I went to see Peter Gabriel in 2010. He performed without guitars and drums. Just an orchestra. It bored me to death. I'm affraid it will be the same with this upcoming tour by Prince. Ive seen almost every tour from Prince from 1986 (except 1998) till 2014 in Europe and i never was excited about his ''piano-medley's'' of songs. Also, it's impossible to perform some songs just on a piano, recorded orginally with a full band. |

A lot of people talking out of their arse in this thread at the moment.
Impossible? If the musician is talented, they can pretty much play anything and capture their audience.
Example of a pianist covering a rock song that was originally recorded with a full band https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wX_ThT1jpas
Possible. I'm sure Prince won't have a problem keeping his audiences entertained.

Yes, my question too. GigsandTours looks like they are set up for the tickets where ticketmaster doesn't but would rather buy through the latter.
Anyone got any advice/knowledge on how they will be offered?
Thanks!!
Hard call. Ticketmasteer have the more robust site/servers, thats for sure. I think its 50/50.
My bigger concern is that they will have different volumes of allocated seats to sell. Who has the most is unknown.
Yes, this is my headache. I imagine Ticketmaster will have the greater allocation, however tey do sting you with the highest processing fee! "London, i've adopted a name that has no pronounciation.... is that cool with you?"

Cheapest price for a Brum ticket is £60. Which isn't insanely expensive I guess, although a lot more than the vast majority of shows, but at least it's not like an huge hike over what I paid last year for a Prince gig. Although tbh they don't list any seating sections, so this could be like far, far at the back, whereas for near the same price for general standing admission I could get right near the front.
This is tempting, but will probably give it a miss frankly, tickets are going on sale a bit before I am able to get my shit together financially, and I just don't know if I'll be able to sustain an interest in a solo piano gig for the length of the entire thing, especially when we have no idea what they'll be like. If I knew that it would be my dream Prince piano setlist then yeah I would probably make an effort to go, but the whole thing's so nebulous that I don't really see the financial investment as being worth the potential payoff. Still I hope that anyone who's thinking of going has a great time, and I imagine I'll be hearing the content of these gigs some way or another Heavenly wine and roses seems to whisper to me when you smile...
Always cry for love, never cry for pain... |
