I went to see Peter Gabriel in 2010. He performed without guitars and drums. Just an orchestra. It bored me to death. I'm affraid it will be the same with this upcoming tour by Prince. Ive seen almost every tour from Prince from 1986 (except 1998) till 2014 in Europe and i never was excited about his ''piano-medley's'' of songs. Also, it's impossible to perform some songs just on a piano, recorded orginally with a full band.

It's being reported that half the show will be piano based and the second half with a full band.

Hard call. Ticketmasteer have the more robust site/servers, thats for sure. I think its 50/50.

My bigger concern is that they will have different volumes of allocated seats to sell. Who has the most is unknown.

Yes, this is my headache. I imagine Ticketmaster will have the greater allocation, however tey do sting you with the highest processing fee!

Is there any reason you couldn't buy two tickets from each one?

I'm really curious to read about how these shows go down. I don't know what to expect, but I can think of worst case and best case scenarios.

Worst case is he doesn't actually do the piano and mic thing, and instead does a lot of sampler set, a lot of ONA medley, and then calls the band on stage. This sounds like a regular prince show so as a 'worst case' it's still not terrible.

Best case is he manages to put on an entertaining show just with the piano and mic. I don't know how he would do it, but if he did, it would be amazing.

.

Tweet from this AM which has been deleted since...

COMPLETELY FALSE: The show at Paisley last Saturday is the tour template. Half a show with on piano n the other half with band.

There isn't going to be a band.

I got two sides... and they're both friends.

6.30am and I've got ticketbastard cued up on my phone. See tickets is drawing a blank, so I guess it's one vendor?

Really hoping to get a ticket:) hoping for Drury Lane, but will go to Barcelona if I miss these UK dates. Beautiful city, so a nice break too!

Good luck to everyone today!!! And to all those saying Prince can't do 90 minutes of piano, search out the version of The Ladder on the very old Omnibus about him. Amazing!

Piano gives breathing space to his voice and new depth and meaning to his songwriting. I mean a stripped down version of Jughead really allows you to contemplate working for Willy wink

Are there going to be loads of tickets that have been pre sold? Isn't that normally the issue with buying at general release? If there isn't then shouldn't it be ok, I mean how many people are really on at the release minute trying to buy?

Fark. So nervous.

What the hell is going on with that? Here I am in the office with the laptop and two phones ready to try to get tickets with no explanation on the ticket agency page. I'm only in Vienna for three weeks for work, and now I'm concerned that I will miss out on this rare opportunity.

Apparently all pre-sales are postponed for the whole tour?

Promoter says:

ACHTUNG! Der VVK-Start aller Termine auf der Europa Tour ist vom Künstler verschoben worden.
Wir informieren euch so schnell als möglich über den neuen VVK Start.

Google Translation:

ATTENTION! The presale start all dates on the European tour has been postponed by the artist.
We inform you as soon as possible about the new presale start.

I've got a bad feeling about this now.

It would be nice to get some time to organize things like booking a flight and get a Hotel.

And I think that getting nice Venues at such short notice before Christmas is almost impossible.

But this is simple and they should have known before.

Always the same with these Concerts.

And in the end you have pepole there they only know Purple Rain.

Ticketmaster is still showing a countdown for sales today...does this mean only Vienna is on hold or these tickets as well will be?

The page at Gigs & Tours has changed as well. All the UK dates were listed about an hour ago. Now nothing.

All of my hang-ups have gone. How I wish you felt the same.

Gone off Gigs and Tours but countdown still on Ticketmaster

Assuming its still on, for those with experience of early and late performances, is there a rule of thumb as to which are better? The afternoon works better for me, but I imagine the evening gigs would be better for some reason

I believe he has trouble getting Venues at such short notice and the whole thing will not take place in Dezember...

Maybe it will hapen with the release of the Purple Rain Special Edition.
