Yes I saw two girls escorted out with police as well. I wonder if it was the same two. Was it in section F2 by any chance? Row W? I was in row Z and couldn't believe it.... There was a cellphone nazi going around with his flashlight threatening to kick people out if he caught them texting etc. This was our entertainment before the show started. 'cmon ppl i wasn't even there and i can't believe you guys are omitting the fact that they did For You and a snippet of 1999 BEFORE the curtains went up and they did LGC. it wasn't an "overture" of For You or a recording, but full version. maybe they were getting the sound right. I heard he made a comment about "having to soundcheck all over again", but anyway. that's a big deal to me, he NEVER does For You.

Yeah your probably right. He needs to have two separate concerts one for casual fans and one for the hardcore afficiandos.

RespectYourPrivacy - Please tell me how you arrived at such a bold presumption in the highlighted quote above. Detroit, although majority African American by far was an "early adapter" to Prince. So much so, he has spoiled us over the years in numerous ways (launching the PR tour here to 7 sold out shows at Joe Louis). We have ALWAYS loved and embraced his rock stuff, I live here and PE is STILL in heavy rotation with me. Yes, I'm a hardcore fan, but there are LOTS of us here and we STILL devour everything he puts out, REGARDLESS of airplay.

I didnt say Detroit doesnt embrace his new music. My comment isnt up for debate. RELAX. Its clear Detroit loves Prince.

Cell Phone-Wielding Fans Ejected From Detroit Prince Concert; ‘I Cried All Night Over It’
. http://detroit.cbslocal.c...t-over-it/ DETROIT (WWJ) – It was the entertainment event of the season in Detroit Thursday night: Prince performing a spectacular, marathon show at a sold-out Fox Theatre, after an 11 year absence. While many are raving about the concert a day later, it left a bad taste in the mouths of some fans who were kicked out over Prince’s strict “no cell phones” concert policy....

I haven't seen Prince live since 2004 (or 2006, if you count the Tamar tour). Therefore, I haven't seen a show with a sampler set. I've heard one or two boots of it, that's all.

There has to be a better way... At least they could've giving her a warning b4 escorting her out..

I don't doubt her story at all, but I had mine out, was told to put it away and I did. Others around me were like little kids as soon as the teacher looked away they were on their phones and were warned multiple times. So it all seems it was inconsistent policing of the rules, which is too bad for the people that were booted.

FWIW, I thought the set was over when Prince tossed his mic into the crowd. Peace, Fosdlom

Look at Post #188... 1st photo shows somebody got P all on camera or video. 3rd photo has about 25-50 with phones all lit up taking photos or video and this girl gets kicked out for having hers out!!!

Everyone had fair warning ahead of time. They had security going up and down the lines outside telling them they would be thrown out if they were caught taking pictures or filming. He even asked "Does everyone understand? Because I'm telling you and there are also signs posted at the entrances and lobby. So don't cry and say you were not warned." So it was quite clear to me. . I didnt see many until Prince told everyone to take their phones out during Controversy. Then it was game on. I expected him to say ok you can all put your phones away now but he didnt. So some probably thought the rules changed and it was ok. Plus there were probably some sections with security who were more laid back than others. It's too bad it was inconsistent but like I said they made it clear what would happen if caught.

Yeah I noticed that too, I think it's unfortunate she got kicked out for just having the phone in her hand, not even taking a pic... Then you see all the phones up and they're still there...
Whenever I go see P live or at PP parties, I leave my phone in the car always!!
But some of these people they just don't know or don't think it's a big deal...
In anycase I think I would've cried all nite too if I had driven 2 hours and gotten kicked out right b4 he came onstage!!!

I thought it was pretty clear cut, I was giving her the benifit of the doubt that she missed EVERY warning sign....lol

This is absolutely not true. It was not a full version of "For You". It was just like on the Nude Tour when little recorded snippets of his songs were played as an Intro to the show. They would play little snippets then they would slow down and go into the next one.
It was a new taped intro to the show, again, similar to how he opened the Nude Tour.

Could not say it better myself.
Been a fan since 1984. Have seen Prince too many times to remember including numerous shows at Paisley Park. Have seen all but two Michigan shows since 1988. I expected a hit filled setlist but there was something "extra" last night. The love being sent to the stage from the Detroit crowd was sent back a hundred times by Prince.
This is what makes Detroit shows so special and why I was so grateful I was able to attend last night. I can be as jaded and cynical as anyone when it comes to the "same tired hits" but as others have said here, the lesser known songs didn't go over that well with the majority of the crowd and this was about reconnecting with one of the cities that helped break this dude in the early days.
I enjoyed this show more than any of the Musicology Detroit dates to be honest. Really love how he has pared down the horns and also the exclusion of a certain female backing singer. Liv and the girls sounded great and don't try to take over the show like that former certain backing singer.
I'm right there with you, this was a classic show. Even though I have heard them countless times on boot and in person, "Hot Thing", "Housequake" and "Cool" had me sweating and dancing up a storm. Such a fun night.
And again completely agreed on Judith Hill, was really hoping for a club date while they were in town and would definitely go see her if she tours on her own. A perfect opener for the night.
Oh and I have to say, I have ZERO sympathy for people thrown out for being on their phones. It could not have been more clear cut what the policy was yet I saw people around us, EVEN after being warned keep pulling theirs out. Are people really that damn addicted to their cell phones?
It was funny as hell though when after watching people get harrassed all night Prince asked everyone to pull their phones out and "light up this place" and it turned into a SEA of people video recording him and taking pictures. He might want to re-think that next time.

Why can't people these days just put their phones AWAY while at concerts, movies, (nice) restaurants? People are glued to their phones even at church and funerals. It's sad that's how things have become and people need to be treated like little children to get a point across, i.e. NO PHONES ALLOWED TURN YOUR PHONE OFF AND PUT IT AWAY. Enjoy the moment FOR ONCE, and stop texting or playing your game on your phone or whatever else it it that's so important on a cell phone. And I'm sorry if some people got removed from the show but they knew the deal at a Prince concert regarding phones and if they choose to be sneaky or act like "little kids as soon as the teacher looked away" then there are going to be consequences. If the policing and enforcing of these rules was unfair and not consistent, I agree that's not right - but in my opinion people should have just followed the well-known and well-advertised rule of a Prince concert which is NO PHONES. Simple. [Edited 4/10/15 16:35pm]

Eye like the brilliant, sneaky, way ask everyone to take their phones out during "Controversy". it's only a trap 4 the" Purple Police", 2 c & identify who has a phone, in the venue. Peeps are so clueless these days. will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.
