Check the audience reactions.

.

That says plenty about the type of 'fan' that P attracts.

It also explains why he keeps on `doing` the hits and not so much his new stuff.

So indeed my strategy should be to detect the 'different' shows and be there so I have to endure less hits.

Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

I guess he can't help it that his popularity spills over into the netherlands of Musicville USA - from hardcore to so many casual, hits-only 'fans', as you put it. What to do, I guess?

There's nothing wrong with a 'fan' or even a fan liking what they like, you know.

And I can't blame him if he feels there are not enough who will come out and respond to the new stuff - IF that's his thinking. I still like to believe there are creative ways to play the new stuff successfully - maybe smaller venues.

... I feel you on the last point. I don't think I have that kind of dough to fork over for another hits show for another few years. But let it be a different show - especially recently released stuff - and I could scrape up enough.

Peace.

TWO sampler sets!

How bored can he be.

http://princevault.com/index.php/09_April,_2015

That setlist is misleading.

There were not two sampler sets.

"When Doves Cry" was played musically from the sampler but he sang over it.

"Sign o The Times" the band joined in.

"Hot Thing" the band joined in.

"Housequake" was with the full band including horns and backing singers.

Most of these were fully played songs with the band joining in and ending with "Cool" it was one of the funky highlights of the night.

The only real "Sampler set" was at the very end before "The Love We Make" when he was just playing short samples of a bunch of songs.

I think Prince misses Detroit... that's why he called out "Detroit!" In Baltimore. That's just my take of his Freudian slip. Or maybe its my wishful thinking...how many Detroiters and surrounding areas with me?
