How exciting...such a long time ago that Prince played in Detroit! cool

http://www.detroitnews.co.../25282481/

Prince is headed to the Motor City for the first time in more than a decade, and he'll be here sooner than you think.
.

The elusive superstar announced late Friday he and his band 3RDEYEGIRL will play Detroit on April 9 at a venue to be announced as part of his Hit & Run tour. The tour, which sees Prince announcing shows with very little lead time, kicked off last month with four shows in Louisville.
.

Tickets go on sale at noon on Monday via LiveNation.com and through Ticketmaster; prices are TBA....

.

If Judith Hill is the support act I don't think it's likely there'll be 2 shows a night from Prince and 3rdeyegirl. All will be revealed Monday when tickets go on sale at noon...perhaps Prince thinks Detroit will offer Judith Hill a friendly audience?

I haven't seen Prince perform since the last time he came to Detroit. I'll settle for rafters seats if it means I get to see the legend do his thing with 3RDEYEGIRL!

Whoah Judith Hill? I was thinking I'd skip these Hit and Run shows, but now I kind of want to go. Decisions, decisions.... Honestly, I think I'd be more excited to see Judith Hill WIHTHOUT Prince and his self-censoring sampler-set, cover-song-playing reloaded-hits bullcrap. Hmmm.... Yeah, I think I still might pass. I'm busy Monday. Prince worth 300 GAZILLION DOLLARS, yet he so greedy, he's selling tickets on a Monday, 4 days before the show, just so he can get a bigger percentage at the gate. No respect for the fans, man. The Filthmore only holds 2000 people. No way 6 shows can't sell-out there.

the question is how long can he keep this con going

and call it a new tour?

under any moniker the setlists are basically the same.

and they're irritating.

sampler snippets of his best songs, hits played so many times

it's on automatic.

it's been the same ol for a decade now,

i've paid for the same shit 4 times........live out loud,

welcome to wherever.......P is just stale.

open the show with LOVESEXY(the song) full version.

imagine the crowd re4action.

I,for one,am done with "the show".

I'd rather play darling nikki with lyrics

while blazing a fat one.Prince would not approve.

When I saw P live in 2010 in Arnhem, Holland, it was the first time in 8 years, so I was totally cool with him playing the old hits. So I can understand lovepotion: if it's been 23 years, you won't give a damn what he plays, you just wanna see him!
But I also understand Signothetimes1987: if you've seen him lots of times, hearing Purple Rain again is going to be boring. Opening with Lovesexy? Sure, I'd love that! And I can tell you what the audience reaction is going to be: omg confuse disbelief headbang woot! eyepop I'm just very blessed to have been there at the North Sea Jazz Festival when he actually did play some rarities (not Lovesexy). And I also think 3rdEyeGirl was an honest attempt to move away from the Greatest Hits shows and try something new. But now that it's obvious that Plec is dead he's playing it safe again.

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Exactly! Although I hope he does play his rocker jams on plectrum electrum and chaos and disorder tunes. I love when he rocks out. Your lucky he played some rarities ...I'm hoping he let's loose and does the same in Detroit since he considers it his second hometown! Any other others hoping to go?

I plan to attend a show. The demand that's for Prince here will demand multiple nights. Since he's not supporting an album, he mgiht as well play Joe Louis Arena. But then again I don't know if 3RDEYEGIRL has played a gig in a venue of 20,000 or better.

Another question, just trying to make Monday as easy as possible. My wife will be trying for tickets while I'm at work.

.

Is it advisable to buy tickets directly through LiveNation, or Ticketmaster? I have read in our local newpaper (app) that tickets will be available through both vendors.

.

Thanks in advance! I haven't seen Prince since 2004, but in '04 was lucky to see him a few times.
