Prince Kafka and his Purple Police issue contradictory orders in a mass entrapment scheme to eject every concert goer from the venue. KCOOL loves the idea!

I wonder if Louisville experienced the cell phone scandal like Detroit with people getting thrown out. Anybody go to those concerts to enlighten us?

I was at the concert, but I didn't see anyone ejected.

Everyone was warned, multiple times.

I was warned at the parking structure. Again verbally outside the doors. Again with signs inside the door. Again from the usher who showed us our seats. And finally by 3EG themselves who greeted the crowd and politely asked everyone to not bring their phones out.

My wife also said it was noted online when you bought the tickets, but I can't confirm that.

I feel bad for this couple, but I call BS on them "not knowing".

it's not a new thing at all.. the difference is now, practically everyone has a phone that also takes pictures. Other artists don't like it either, and it's so fun for people in the audience to stand behind 500 cellphones and ipads blocking their view. Just enjoy the show! smile

Thank you years before cellphones you could not bring in phones. This is never going to change.

don't a lot of acts do both the "no cell phones!" and the "let's light this place up with cell phones!" routines? I'm sure Prince wasn't the first to do either...

If I was there, I would had obeyed the no picture clause, the same way I did the other time when I took this. I wouldn't had gave a shit. (I didn't have a cellphone during the Musicology tour).

WTF? That sounds like something a cynic like me would suggest: that P told people to take pics with the intention of getting them kicked out.

.

BTW, everyone carries a phone everywhere these days. And every phone can take still photos and videos. There's no reason I or anyone should have to leave the phone in the car or at home just to make P happy.

.

If he wants to have a "no photos" policy, fine, as long as it's clearly stated to everyone. But don't play bullshit games like telling people to go ahead and take pics, just to trap them.

Glad that Cassy's still performing with them. She's so needed to fill out the sound in a lot of those tracks. Liv's backup singers are good additions too, although I miss Elisa. I need to hear that version of Green Garden with P & Judith.

What happen to the beautiful, POWERHOUSE vocalist Shelby J.?

[Edited 4/10/15 8:39am]

Please Prince, leave her at home. She is overbaring most of the time. Her hype woman schtick is lame. Prince is the last person that needs that nonsense.

Yeah your probably right. He needs to have two separate concerts one for casual fans and one for the hardcore afficiandos.

RespectYourPrivacy - Please tell me how you arrived at such a bold presumption in the highlighted quote above. Detroit, although majority African American by far was an "early adapter" to Prince. So much so, he has spoiled us over the years in numerous ways (launching the PR tour here to 7 sold out shows at Joe Louis). We have ALWAYS loved and embraced his rock stuff, I live here and PE is STILL in heavy rotation with me. Yes, I'm a hardcore fan, but there are LOTS of us here and we STILL devour everything he puts out, REGARDLESS of airplay.

Some people on here say some of the most absurd things. Not sure wher they get this nonsense from. And any "hardcore afficiando" would not want to hear any of that mostly embarrasing album PE when he has hundreds of great songs to choose from. PE has some of the absolute worst material he has ever put out. None of the 3EGirls can sing at all. He should have just produced their album but not sang or played on it. Let 3EG go out and tour on their own if they are so great. I doubt anyone in their right mind would pay to see them without Prince.

2 c & identify who has a phone, in the venue?

1) Why can't you write like a normal person?

2) Do you really think that is what Prince and his security are up to?

3) If I had to guess, I would say that just about EVERYONE had a cellphone on them.

If you can't keep it put away for 2 hours after being warned repeatadly, you deserve to be thrown out!

Waving your phone around and taking pics are too different things. You have merger been allowed to pics or record concerts. Why would this change because everybody has a phone.

Prince asked people to take out their cellphones for the same effect as lighters in the old days. "Let's light this place up!"

That was specific permission, for that song only. Problem is, people took that as permission to keep them out all night.

Taking photos and videos, for sure, but also checking Facebook, texts and email.

I didn't spend all that money to check texts or email. If I expected an emergency or had to check in (sick parent, babysitter, etc.) then I'd duck out into the hallway. Otherwise, there's nothing that can't wait just a few hours. I also don't want YOUR cellphone screen in my face all night because you happen to be in front of me.

I'm down with the no cellphone policy. If people obeyed it like grown adults, we'd all be fine. Eventually they won't even be allowed in at all.

Everyone has a cellphone, and it's unreasonable to ask everyone to leave their cellphones in their car or at home.

.

Having said that, a NO CELLPHONE USE policy is absolutely acceptable.

.

I'll say this: having the audience dark for half the show (no cellphone screens or camera flashes) was very refreshing.

I really like Wow, Marz, Fixyourlifeup, Pretzelbodylogic, Screwdriver, another Love and Funknroll. I was hoping we would get some or even better all of these. These kick ass live also!! I guess I fall in the "absurd things" category because I actally like his music and would love to hear it live. To me these would have been great in the new shows. I was hoping we would get Chaos and Disorder and I Like it There also. If you heard those UK shows they were among the greatest shows of his career and it was primarily newer material with some older ones mixed in also. Those shows just absolutely rocked hard and the band sounded great. Granted, the USA is not as accepting of newer music as overseas is but he can still work it in the setlist if he layered right. It doesn't have to be SO MUCH hits and NO new stuff in the USA. I miss the days where Prince didnt care and played it whether you liked it or not.

He performed Clouds, and it kinda killed the momentum. Not because it was a "ballad", but because it was unknown to 90% of the audience.

As others have said, it was a fun and a fantastic crowd. The whole place was in a collective great mood, Prince included. I am curious what he's doing with this tour given that he's not promoting the new stuff at all. Clouds didn't play well in a hits review type show - Another Love would have drawn in the crowd. That said it was a great funk/dance party.

Per phone drama: If people don't know by now that Prince is anti-camera at his shows, well, they're trying not to know. If it's too hard not to check it during the show don't bring it.
