In bed & can't sleep! biggrin Really enjoyed seeing Prince & 3rdeyegirl tonight. The set list was heavy with hits but I was dancing most of the night!! His performance of The Beautiful Ones was so soul wrenching,my face was just awash wi tears!! And so they continued Sometimes it Snows in April fallinluv Loved Musicology with Mama Feelgood thrown in that mix... Ooohwee it was getting funky up in there!

Things that annoyed me- the lighting people. Grrr.... When the master asks for lights to be changed, DO IT!! I was ready to go slap the lighting guy round the chops the amount of times P was ignored or it happened a bit later. Good amounts of the show with P on the keys & on bass & we watched a black stage for 15-20mins it seemed! And I couldn't see a thing on the large screens as they were too high up & we were 3rd row of the very first balcony. Fire the lighting people please! House lights on means all the lights on, try listening to him!!

There were a large number of very casual fans there 2nite & they didn't always get into it in my seating section. I think once you've been spoiled with being up so close & personal to Prince that u can taste his energy, being so far away where u can't even see his face will never cut the mustard. Phenomenal music, but I'm
Just not into such large arenas. Just wanted 2 see his beautiful face... sad

Can't lie - I was being greedy, I wanted a show until 11. One of the security guards told me they were asked to be prepared for a show until 1130.

In saying that, it was amazing. The Love We Make - Oh my f*ckin' god. The Beautiful Ones made me cry. Purple Rain was amazing. The song of the night was probably Little Red Corvette.

I was there with people who'd never seen him before. They all want another chance to see him. I couldn't be happier with that.....
So look into the mirror, do u recognise some1? Is it who u always hoped u would become, when u were young?

A great night though a disappointing set list, given that I was hoping for a rare gem. Regardless, his vocal gymnastics are amazing despite all these years and it's nice to see him move so freely too.

Very jealous of those at the front who benefited from some interaction. My seats were decent..middle second tier, but it's a detached experience. Standing, and standing close is where it's at.

An incredible number of people were queued at the bars with twenty minutes to go - I had to suffer the drinkers shuffling past me every ten minutes which got annoying in the middle of a song.

Nothing Compares To U was my highlight - it sounded genuine, which isn't always the case for me. He went for it.

why did he ditch all of the newer songs? I was really looking forward to hearing the new jams and rarities from the earlier UK tour. Now its starting to look more and more like the same last ten year tour again just in a different set order!! sad

i enjoyed the glasgow show. there weren't many of the hardcore regulars from down south at this one, but plenty of people i knew and i met a few old friends i hadn't seen in donkeys years.

before the show it took a bit of time to get warmed up. STV came to take a few photos and interviews early on whilst i was in the main SECC building but they came back later on and interviewed 2 or 3 people and they got us to sing a song, and whilst we were told in advance, we never got anything agreed to spontanously i picked when doves cry so we did that in a group to camera and it wasn't that bad. better than my performance on newsnight at least. we had been drinking beforehand so everyone was warmed up by then, and the music was playing outside so it was like a wee party at the doors of the venue.

the entry system was screwed up big style. people had been lining up early and two guys slept overnight, but there were about 7 sets of doors opening on the outside and then inside there were 4 doors to the hall. the security told some of us that only A and D on the extreme left and right were opening so head there, which we did, and then tried to get people back in number line a bit, at least getting the overnight guys at the front. then a second bunch of people turned up as B and C blocks didn't open, and they were very unhappy that after lining up early they found their doors weren't going to open and they had to wait for the A and D to get in before them. then when doors opened, the D block were let in before A and got the best spots, so it really messed the line up and the guys who slept overnight for the best spot were on the far left, past the end of the stage, and someone who turned up many hours later told me he was front row. the venues really need to do something better for people who line all day for the best spots. it's not really that hard to sort something out for even the first 50 or 100. they did it in birmingham, it worked well, everyone was happy and it removed the stress and aggro.

i found the sound quality fine for all the other shows, but the sound was a lot less clear and more muddy last night. i had heard both good and bad things about the venue sound, but as far as i'm concerned the sound can vary depending on what system you have, how and where it's situated, who is in control of the sound and how many people are inside, so it's not a simple case of sound being bad in a particular venue really, but some venues lend well to good accoustics, like kings row. for whatever reason it wasn't as good as before, but i either got used to it or it improved as time went on. i thought it was maybe my spot as the speakers were above me, but others said it was poor too. one friend said he left after 20 minutes as the sound was so bad, and thats a big fan.

as for the performance, no real surprises in the setlist, but he added a number of flourishes and jams to a few tracks, like guitar, crimson and clover and little red corvette for example. different from the feb manc1 and the most recent manc show though. it looked like he was enjoying it and getting a good reaction from the packed out crowd. the venue seemed much smaller than manchster as it was more landscape than portrate shaped and in a semi circle instead of rectangle

fans were onstage for quite a while last night too. i think the longest time i've seen fans onstage. at two seperate times

the show had a different feeling to the more party like saturday night at manchster but was a good one. let's see how it goes tonight in leeds

Was a good show with no big surprises. Sound was definitely muddy at points from where we were on the second tier and lots of lighting cues being missed. It's always interesting to eavesdrop on what other people who are casual fans or are seeing him for the first time are saying. Some sample comments round about me were "he has to come, back. He's the greatest showman on earth." "Best show ever!" And "he plays the stuff no one else has the balls to play!" Setlist above is accurate but thought he was going to go into 7779311 at one point, sure he did a few notes from that.

controversy was proper live, the others were part of the sampler set but with full band playing. the sampler set was a bit of a jam session this time actually. he split the sampler set up and full band playing and jamming so it was one of the best sampler sets he's done

purple rain startd on piano from the piano set then he came back with guitar and restarted the opening vocals so that was a different version to normal too. he was giving it laldy on the guitar on the podium at one point too, rocking it out. did the same with the bass as well and he did a bit of 7779311 on bass

Amazing night, though as others have mentioned, the sound at times was dreadful! I actually thought during Guitar that my ears were going to bleed it was that loud and distorted. Lots of missed or late lighting queues. All in all though blows every live performer out of the water. Was surprised at the earlyish finish, 10:40pm. Was expecting 1 or 2 more encores. Maybe he had enough of the glitches?? Beautiful Ones highlight for me

There have been ALOT of glitches so far, more than I remember on any tour...I'm surprised his stage guy still has a job after Monday with all the cock-up especially after Prince stopped him running on stage with a 'sit doggy' hand gesture lol

Great concert last night. I was originally concerned about 3EG arena shows, and how the crowd would react, but was completely wrong.

To be fair, I thought that there would be few hits, and mostly casual fans expecting a hits show. However, even the reception for even lesser known recent songs (Musicology, Guitar) was really good. I thought there was an excellent atmosphere given the size, so they probably could have handled more new material (typical Prince though - I wonder if Plectrum Electrum will see the light of day!).

Highlights for me were LRC and NC2U - both amazing versions. Oh, and the intro to Controversy. Even the sampler set with the band playing was better than expected.

My only "complaints" would be that the second sampler set lost momentum a bit (as far as I remember, it was mostly intros for the last few, other than Hot Thing), and that it didn't go on til (and past) curfew!

The sound in the Hydro is definitely much better than the SECC, but there have been problems with the sound at a few gigs I've been to there. I think due to the height it can sound more similar to stadium gigs than an arena. Having said all that, I was near the sounddesk last night and I wouldn't say the sound was 'bad', just that it probably could have been better.

I hope it's not another couple of decades before he comes back to Scotland!
