my quick thoughts on the show..arrived at the arena around half six and got to about six from the front right in front of the keyboard..great position..the gig itself was great...he is just a born performer...with an aura that i dont think anyone else on the planet has...maybe michael jackson when he was in his prime but no one else has it like prince..you just cant take your eyes off him in case you miss anything....played most of the big hits to keep the arena crowd happy...threw in "the love we make " which not many around me knew but was good to hear..an awesome extended version of purple rain complete with a rain of confetti ...he is never short of great when i have seen him..

i was annoyed with the sound quality where i was..it was poor...it seemed to get better but on the very loud tracks ...it just sounded very muddy and the vocals hard to hear..

i think he cut the show short due to the sound problems which was a great shame but i cant fault him for the show he put on...it wasnt as good as the manchester gig i saw in a far smaller venue in february but that was the greatest concert i have ever seen but arena gigs will always struggle to beat small venues..

totally agree blackbob... he seemed annoyed at one point and the sound engineer said something when he was walking away and prince turned and growled at him!

i also think he peaked too soon with the set list and the last half hour didnt do him justice, although play that funky music did get everyone going

Was #1 in the queue (Rory) with my buddy, Barry #2. We camped out over night from 10 pm Wednesday!

Plenty to say and will do a full write up over the weekend. We tried to keep the order of previous concerts, doing the line numbering but the Hydro weren't very responsive to say the least. They didn't want to follow Birmingham's excellent example nor did they seem to know what on earth was going on with the constant, this is whats happening, no this, or actually...

Was a little frustrating after putting soo many hours into that and the anxiety of the late doors was beginning to hit a few! It was solid end to my Prince gigging, 3 in one week and will talk more at length tomorrow. STILL recovering.

Glasgow was amazing! I could feel the thunder in my chest when he did Sott and hot thing.guy behind me was so enthusiastic shouting " play that base prince!" And " glasgow loves up prince!" It was great.

I had my binoculars when I was in glasgow watching my superstar man !!! Sad I know but I noticed a woman sitting behind the speaker next to his piano looking a bit bored ??? Who was she ?? Don't think she was part off the crew , she looked quite attractive long dark hair but her face was tripping her ??? Watched her for a while then when back to the man himself , also who was the other girl with the long dark hair who was dancing and sang with prince at the beginning off the show ???

I've been trying to work out what it is I don't like about that SSE Hydro as a venue. Prince was the 3rd gig I've been to inside it & they were outstanding! No matter how much I disliked the arena, Prince filled that place with so much excitement & such an amazing party atmosphere!

Loved how the busy crowd on the floor took away that empty, cold feeling I've felt before in that arena. But I reckon the fact it's made out if so much concrete, gives it a very hard, harsh & unwelcoming feeling to it. Now the SECC right next door is basically a big tin shed. But sound bounces back off of metal & sound is cut dead & absorbed by concrete. Maybe that's why I don't like the venue...

I have been to Prince concerts in France, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Bigger rooms, stadiums, small room (New Morning 2010).

Never had a problem with the sound.

The sound at The Hydro is horrible. Awful to the point I could not enjoy the show and that it was painful to stay.

I never thought I would leave a Prince gig after 25 minutes!

My opinion remains that gigs should be made illegal in a room like this (horrible sound quality).

Little doubt in my mind tht they hired a deaf person in order to test the sound quality.

One of the people I was with took a cracking video of the whole Purple Rain performance. You can clearly hear me shouting "Oh My Gaaaawwwwwd" when the first notes hit in that piano solo!

I actually can't talk about the show without getting goosebumps.

In order to enjoy myself, I need a basic sound quality. The Hydro simply didn't provide it.

I tried to force myself to stay but I found it more painful to stay and suffer the poor sound without enjoying the show rather than leave.

Imagine a terrible recording with an awful quality. You can't listen to it so you just won't listen to it. That's the idea. There was no way for me to have a good time.

I admit the sound in the Hydro isn't he best but it wasn't anywhere near THAT bad. Leaving after 25 minutes? Shame so many fans missed out when someone decided to leave before the half hour mark!

In spite of occassional sound issues it's one of the best gigs I've eve been to. Great party atmosphere, seemed to really enjoy himself and give it his all and the crowd responded to that. The beautiful ones was a spine tingling moment.

I've also still got 'Let's go Glasgow' stuck in my head!

Yes let's be realistic the sound could have been better but it was no where near walk out territory I think his energy and dancing more than made up for it and his vocal during the beautiful ones was the best I have ever heard from him

The sound really wasn't that bad, a million miles from walkout level. That's just nonsense

The Hydro is 1000 times better than the SECC for sound

It has been over a week now and this is my first ever post. The hydro show was my sixth time seeing Prince and I thoroughly enjoyed it even though I was towards the back and had a fat girl behind me asking me to sit down on a couple of occasions. The sound was okay and, in my opinion, not as bad as some are making out. The guy in control of the lighting however was very poor and extended periods of darkness meant I had no idea what was going on at times. However, Prince seemed to be on form and that made up for it. Highlight of the show for me was 'Controversy' and 'Forever In My Life.' 'A Love Bizarre' was cool as well owing to my introduction to Prince being the Lovesexy tour initially being shown on Channel 4. (The 10 mins of 'I Wanna be your lover' melting into 'Love Bizarre' and 'Head' is among my favourite Prince moments.) 'Sometimes it snows in April' was an odd choice and didn't really work for me and I was quite disappointed that 'Something in the water' didn't make the cut.

The last time I saw him was 19 years ago, I was one of the lucky few that got into the Garage. No concert experience will ever come close to that night and although the hydro gig was great, it was always destined to suffer by comparison. I came away from the gig having enjoyed it but realising that I'm approaching 40 and most of the rest of the audience were a similar age, if not older. The intensity of our collective response has been diminished by age. It wasn't helped by there being a lot of people sitting down. How can you get into it if you are sitting down? How can you get into it if you are nipping out constantly for beer, crisps and a bag of mini chocolate bars? Prince put on a show but was, I fear, let down a little by technical difficulties and the audience.

One query. How does the hydro decide ticket prices? Why were the standing tickets the cheapest? The tickets I had were pretty high up and should have been cheaper than the standing ones.

Good points Davemo. Just be thankful the fat girl wasn't in front of you and dancing. :-) I also have no clue why the standing tickets were cheapest..that would be the most preferred ticket amongst hardcore fans, surely? Don't get me started on the beer swilling, chocolate eating masses. Those people would never have survived the pressure cooker that was the Garage back in my youth too! We should all be glad P is still around...I chose my favourite pop stars wisely.
