Any locals got any parking tips for (relatively) close to the venue?
- E-mail - orgNote - ![]() |
So if it's 2 queues, I'd be surprised if they open doors for ticketed people and people purchasing at the same time, so I am guessing people who buy tickets on the door will then have to go and join the queue of people with tickets who started queuing before the doors open?
Checking of ID against ticket is going to take time as well, if they do it, my friend bought my ticket so I'm taking allsorts of authorisations to prove she has transferred the ticket to me. [Edited 2/21/14 2:41am]

I bought tickets off Seatwave, but I'm now terrified I won't get in because I don't have any ID that matches the name on the ticket... help! Any suggestions??
- E-mail - orgNote - ![]() |
My view on this is if they enforce the ID checks there will be a lot of people outside very upset. I would expect there will be alot of trouble as a result.
If they had done it as ticketless entry (needing the card and ID as the only way to gain access) from the start it would be fine, everyone would know the score and it's nearly impossible for touts to benefit from such a system. The system they chose is open to abuse, has been abused and while touts are scum the venues can do alot more to prevent it.

You need a written letter from the person who bought the ticket staying your name, their name, last 4 digits of the card used and signed

Easy enough to fabricate on the spot. (just need the four figures if they indeed can check those) Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

I don't have that card information though - Seatwave seems to be completely anonymous? I don't think there's any way of contacting the individual...

Hope everyone manages to get in ok and has fun.

I've just spoken to some minion on the phone at the box office help desk, and she made it very clear that if photo ID did not match the name on the ticket then the ticket would be invalid and you would not be allowed into the venue. She said it was to'protect' fans from ticket touts - when I argued that I was a fan who would lose a lot of money if the venue did not allow me in, she just kept saying the same thing over and over (obviously reading from a script). Don't know what to do... the Manchester Academy website only added the photo ID requirement yetsreday - I bought the Seatwave tickets on Wednesday night!! Don't know what to do...

These are e-tickets right?
Change the name on e-ticket before printing, or use a photo-editing tool if it's not straight forward.
I've done this before for other shows and it's never a problem but if they're checking names against Ids, you need to make them match somehow!
Good luck y'all!

LOTS of fans will have taken the desperation route and bought from the resell sites like Seatwave......... I dont think they'll turn them all away, cos there will be a lot of PISSED OFF ANGRY people at the doors if they do. Dont leave until you ALL get in. You have as much right to be there as others. Its the touts and resell sites that need punishing, not honest genuine fans who have spent hundreds to get in. "U have just given birth 2 a 7 pound Bambi..." SBE 9Feb14

This situation with the Tickets is flawed to the max, at the end of the day, the only winners are the touts? If they buy tickets to sell, and sell them at a higher price, only Fans who want to be there will pay it, The touts get paid, the "Fan" woudlnt get entry, its not rocket science that the only winner will be the touts weather they stop that person getting in or not. Its a joke,
I have a written letter from the person who bought my ticket, the bank card, and Photo id of them (Only a cost co card haha but still has a photo on) If i dont get in im going to be seriously pissed.

I dont think they can now enforce this. IF at the time of sale they made it clear that an ID was required etc etc then there would have been no secondary market. They cant suddenly change the rules after a couple of days. Once 50 people start kicking off then I dont see that this will work. [Edited 2/21/14 3:46am]

Thats what Im predicting. I think the new policy introduced yesterday will make people think twice and poss stop buying from resell sites from now on. But if people show up with tickets and no photo ID or purchase card, it's totally unfair not to let them in. "U have just given birth 2 a 7 pound Bambi..." SBE 9Feb14

Just had a generic email from Seatwave saying that they will refund the tickets if we can't get entry because the Manchester Academy policy has changed. Why the hell couldn't they insist on photo ID from the beginning when tickets went on sale instead of deciding the day before when people have already bought tickets at huge prices elsewhere?! This does not help or protect fans. Cock-up!!
- E-mail - orgNote - ![]() |
Exactly, plus, as much as i hate touts who prey on fans, they also do alot of fans a favour, the sale the other night, unless you were at home refreshing pages and things you wouldnt have had a clue about, loads will have missed out, so will have to do to them for tickets, they give people another chance of going, yeah probably fleecing them, but if the person is willing to pay it (I have done in the past for other artists) then why shouldnt they go?
- E-mail - orgNote - ![]() |
My suggestion is everyone tweet Kiran, wether you have a ticket bought by yourself or not ,enough people tweet she might put something out to confirm ok, and the more who can the better?

I agree, stating at purchase time that photo ID was required for entry at time of purchase would have put off allot of touters, also, would have killed the sell on market as people would known it was a big risk to buy a ticket from companies like seatwave etc, Glastonbury do a system like this.
Also, limit tickets sales to 1 or 2 per person, so fans had a chance to buy tickets, rather than all being sold quickly in bulk orders of 4 and resold later. This all smells of last minute panicking sending emails to purchasers, changing T&C after sale is something I think they would struggle to defend legally.
A couple of hundred fans with tickets and not allowed in at 7pm is gonna be a recipe for trouble.

I'd be careful editing the name manually, a name can be inserted into a bar code (but I doubt they will do this - I work with scanning guns in IT), my advice would be try the original first, have an edited print out as backup to use later if refused entry ....
- E-mail - orgNote - ![]() |
Yeah thats what i thought, contemplated it myself, but the ticket doesnt have the last 4 digits of the card used so Id imagine if it is scanned some info comes up to show this?
