Just noticed that the "Sunday" tab in the lineup section has disappeared. I think that they are editing the special guests and they will be up soon..... Fingers crossed no Larry. He kinda ruined Wercheter last year. I personally think it's better to have different styles of music and let Prince handle the funk. I really am gonna be disappointed if Larry is there doing countless encores. He's welcome to play bass for P but not do an hour and half set PLEASE... And as for Mint Condition....

I very much doubt it about Larry playing as he isn't really known here in the UK so no-one would really know who it was. No offence to Larry but he has never been marketed or sold over here!

Sly was very popular here in the UK back in the day, you know? I'd bet Larry is well known enough in the 40+ age group here. I'd heard of and grooved to Larry's great bass playing before his association with Prince.

Anyway, its incidental! I'm really looking forward to this and don't really care who else they put on during the day - if there's something else decent, that's a bonus. But I'm really only going to this because Prince is playing and also in the hope of putting some faces to names here wink

...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

This is from their site... so I am hoping that means that if Prince is still playing at 11.30, we still have a ride home!

"Return Coach Travel direct to the site of Hop Farm 2011 on Sunday 3rd July. All coaches arrive in time for gates opening and depart for home after the music finishes. Coaches depart from London Kings Cross, London Waterloo and Brighton - the return fare is only £24. All travel tickets are in the form of e-tickets and will be emailed to you in the weeks leading up to the festival."

Why Prince Is The Ultimate Festival Act

By Priya Elan

Posted on 18/05/11 at 03:23:43 pm

Bloody hell, how did Hop Farm Festival manage it?
They finally got Prince to leave his Minneapolis throne, descend his satin, purple-coloured staircase and play a UK festival.
For years the presence of his Purpleness has been the mainstay of the Glastonbury rumour mill for good reason. Because along with the other oft-speculated headliners (David Bowie, Fleetwood Mac and Dolly Parton) he’s perfect festival fodder.

continued...
He's got an audacious back-catalogue of generation-spanning hits, a legendary mastery of stage craft and the ability to connect person to person even in a nose-bleed inducing stadium.
I remember being transfixed watching his ‘Parade’, ‘Sign ‘O’ The Times’ and ‘Lovesexy’ tours on TV as a child. It was like seeing a master at work; a brutal guitar player, speed demon dancer and an understanding band leader (who had enough ego control to let outstanding talents like Wendy & Lisa and Sheila E have their moments in the sun).
I finally got to see him in the flesh during his O2 residency and he didn’t disappoint. Aided by his large band and the fairly ridiculous Twinz he played an otherworld mix of The Hits (‘1999’, ‘Let’s Go Crazy’, ‘U Got The Look’) but it was he hunkered down for the solo roll through the likes of ‘Raspberry Beret’ and weepy ‘Parade’ album closer ‘Sometimes It Snows In April’ that made the evening for me.
Magnetic, thrilling and with the audience in raptures even before he hit the stage, it was one of the best nights of my life. Glastonbury, you must be well jealous.

anyways...

Curfew for acts is 11pm, sho should be in time for the bus, and the fact Big Green Coach is a company that does all festivals I hope they hang around, but even I hope not too long. Getting to Waterloo is one thing, cvatching the last train from there is something else considering we will be back around 12:30. I will be on that bus too and hoping the traffic is not so bad.

I don't know if this could be any help for you or other mainland European fans....

The Hop Festival is in Kent, and is as near to the Town of Ashford as the city of London. Ashford is the one and only stop for the Eurostar between London and Lille.

So If somone wanted to go to the show, they could take the early Monday morning train from Ashford to Lille at 6.58am. From there its straight on to Paris/Brussels/Amsterdam. Its only £37 too.

Its only about 25 miles from the festival to Ashford, so if a few of you got a taxi it would be alot cheaper than the bus back to London.

Where do you have to get back to from Waterloo? I work near to Waterloo so I'll have to do my usual routine for when there's a tube strike. It's a fair 20 minute walk to a bus stop that can take me home. Luckily it's a 24hr bus service.

Hi Ellie

I need to get back to Wimbledon. Im going to look for a night bus. Looks like we are on the same trip back to London then. Will you also be traveling down by coach to Kent? Can meet up if you want at Belverdere Road.

Yes, me and my friend Fiona will be travelling on the return trip from Waterloo! It should be great to meet a lot of you and hopefully the Sunday coach will be mostly Prince fans. I hope the coach company let us play some music smile According to Tfl, the N87 bus comes every 15 minutes from Trafalgar Square/Charing Cross and goes straight to Wimbledon. It's much easier to walk to Charing Cross from Waterloo too, as long as you're not too tired.
