Imelda May is great act, particularly live, but the rest of the line up is very weak. But its the addition of Larry Graham again that will make me simply turn up for Prince on his own and stay away from the rest fo the day. I don't think I could make it through his set again.

I bought the ticket to see Prince and wouldn't have been bothered if there was no support. Unless someone awesome was announced I was always likely to be turning up late, especially with a pregnant partner coming too.

Obviously a shame for everyone that wanted to make a day of it. I enjoyed Larry at Brixton when he supported Prince there but once was enough. smile

RIP sad

There should also be a comedy tent and various fun family activities as well. It's not all standing watching bands on the main stage.

Cool....to be fair I'm actually quite please that Larry will be there. I've never seen him live but I thought GCS2000 did have some good bits too so will be interesting to see him in the flesh!

Not the strongest line up, but hopefully there will be more surprises announced. Imelda May is cool and I think Larry G is perfect to come on before Prince, we were dancing our asses off in Arras and the whole thing felt like a 5 hour party rather than support acts etc.

Just had a listen to Tall Ships and they will be nice for early afternoon in the sunshine, it's always nice to see some new folk at festivals I think.

Looking forward to a fun day out in the sun!

Yeah, at the moment I think I'll arrive by car about 7pm, park at the back of the car park (just like the Clark Griswold), make my way to Prince, start moving to the back of the field in the encores and be back in the car by 11.30.

I did the same for Arras and it worked out fine....except the line up started late and I was subjected to Mint Condition and Larry (again).

Shame there isn't a gold circle like Arras. It let me get close without having to do battle with the "crazies" who ruin it for everyone pushing through at the front.

Do you think they think that Labrinth, Tinie, Parade will be catering for Prince fans as they are 'urban'? Jeez Louise, it's like a Smash Hits Poll Winners Party. Except they didn't win any polls.

Grr, I hate pushers in. If you're at the front, you better have earned it and stayed there all day like I used to be willing to do a few years ago. The worst are the ones blatantly lying about meeting their friends at the front, then just stop dead in front of you.

Tinnie will now become best mates with him pint sized doppleganger Prince.

Larry better not go on before P. I would prefer Tinie to go on before. I wish larry would fuck off... I promised my fiancee this gig would be better than Wercheter but I've got a bad feeling it's going to be same again

The first time I saw prince was outside at Maine Road in Manchester 1992 and I loved it, I was 10. Last year I went to Wercheter and to be honest it was the worst Prince gig I've been to (out of 15), this are the reasons:

1. It Rained (a lot)

2. The Set list sucked

3. Larry Graham's set went on way too long with countless encores

4. Prince did 4 or 5 encores (2 songs then a break then another 2 etc)

5. The audience were not digging it (quite a few people seemed to actually be taking the piss)

Hop Farm would have to be spectacularly bad to be worse than Wercheter IMHO but I do wish it was in an arena or theatre.

1. The Rain made it. Hot summer Rain.

2. The Setlist was O.K

3. Larry Graham always goes on too long, but if he had a shorter set, Prince wouldnt have come on any earlier.

4. And he will probably do 6 or 5 Encores at Hop Farm.

5. Not sure where you was , must ahve been at the car park, cause it was Funking where we was.

1. The rain was fun to start with but it made sitting through endless funk jam covers difficult

2. Ok was not worth the travel and hotel money

3. I would have prefered silence

4. You are unfortunately right there

5. Half way back, some drunk dude kept saying "praise the lord" all the time, might have been one of the thousands of people who got free or half price tickets.

I've just seen some rare and amazing shows so I'm a bit spoilt smile

I suppose most artists would look pretty lame next to P on a bill.

I swear though it must be in the contract when anyone books Prince - "Ya'll gotta book ma' fonky Grandpa too - else y'all aint gittin ma' fonky ass!!!"

I remember him at Brixton 98, & even back then I remember thinking "enough, already" Great bass player in a band, lame act on his own....

& If he keeps shouting " ARE YOU READAYYYY???!!!!" at the top of his voice, I'm going home!

I would have loved a retro MPLS day. The Time, Sheila, W&L. The Family. I wish.

Failing that, I would have like to have seen a Bruno Mars or Plan B supporting.

Yeah - I would kill to see The Time play here in the UK, they are probably my fav band after Prince!

Or imagine if they got Wendy & Lisa to play not just with Prince but as themselves, that would be so cool too!

Both W&L and The Time torn it up when they played the UK last so I would love to see them back. Paul Peterson too. Even Mavis was 10 times better than Larry.

a proper lineup would be

prince

george clinton

the time

maceo parker

larry graham

sheila e

weny and lisa

vanity/appolonia six (both of them)

the family

madhouse

jill jones

ingrid chavez

mavis staples

in that kinda order with mavis first, so there is a bit of a change in vibe between sets
