Dear Prince.

You have a "baby blue Bentley". I gather from the fact you mention it occasionally in song you like it. I, on the other hand, don't and wouldn't want to buy one (even if I could afford it).

The same comment is valid for Larry Graham. You may love him and his stupid white hat (it ain't the 70s no more) but I don't.

Please come on stage on time (at 8.30 would be good) at the Hop Farm and don't complain about the curfew.

I can pretty much predict the setlist you will play, but am hoping you'll throw that one out and give us a re-vamped, guitar heavy, funk-tastic night.

Aside from all the above, I can't wait! razz

We ain't from Hollywood, so you know it's all good

in that kinda order with mavis first, so there is a bit of a change in vibe between sets

You do know its not a Prince only festival, don't you.

Hmmm, well Imelda May should be good.

But why oh why are we being punished with Larry Graham? I tell you if the pair of them start getting their Christ on and telling me what to think and how to pray to the magical carpenting zombie that's me and Prince DONE!

Fed up of it.

Anyway, negativity aside, should be a good day smile

I love Imelda, she's brilliant!

The others are complete shite though, so probably roll in late afternoon to get my car in a quick exit position.

Guess who's the wrong side of 35?

Haha, i'm even going to take a packed lunch/dinner to avoid the festival fodder. I'm officially my own Dad lol

LOL...Arras was hard work! I remember we pushed our way near the front and we was so hot and squashed and with all the waiting I felt ill, I was getting more and more dizzy i could feel my legs trembling from under me and kept looking up int the sky for air, I turned to Pepper7 saying I dont think I'm gonna make it I think im gonna faint, the horror on her face falloff but then Larry came on stage and everyone pushed forward I suddenly felt ok.

We missed quite a few trains back and had to stay in Lille for the night, Lille was nice.

I vowed I will never see Prince in a place like that again, seated only...I must be off my rocker or just plain gullible to be doing this again, but here we are lol

Sharing a taxi home is a good idea.

Doesn't matter what he puts us through, we just keep going back for more, don't we...

Sheesh!

wink

I think you'll find British festival crowds a little more accomodating than that, for the most part. I've done a few of them over the years and the crowds are well behaved, as they aren't made up entirely of hardcore "must get down the front" fans. We Brits know how to queue and stand in a polite way! smile

Case in point, I was lucky enough to see Madonna at the Radio 1 Big Weekend in Maidstone couple of years back, and even though the main tent was packed waiting for her to come out there was no shoving or moodiness. It was very hot in there and the security at the front were handing out much needed cups of water. But rather than gulp them down all the blokes round where I was were passing them on to women and kids who needed them more...thought that was a nice touch. Seems to be fairly standard for what a British festival crowd is like though, so Im sure you'll be in good company.

Yeah. When I went to see Duran Duran and NERD at the Lovebox festival in 2009 the crowds were better. No aggressive pushing or shoving, people were generally pleasant and polite with each other. Can't say the same for Arras, I found the crowd rough and mean.
I will only stick with British places from now on you know where your at and I think us Brits have more etiquette.

Some people 'get' Prince, some people don't.

At the end of the day we are all going to get down the front and support him, and that's what's important.

Shut up already, damn.

either i must be getting old or the other acts are unknowns as i consider myself to be at the forefront of new music, but i've never heard of half the fucking bands, and asking other folk if they had heard of them either, i may as well just have made up names at random and told them the shit fiddlers, tiny penis and pansy and the wallabys were playing and they'd be none the fucking wiser

i know it's last minute to put something together and most of the money for sunday is paying for croke park refunds, but surely they could have got someone else that we've heard of to play

the only good thing might be that all the shite bands keep people the fuck away from the front row so i can pitch my tent there in peice without fucking hoodies annoying me

I'm far too old to be bothering with up the front in a big crowd. I'll be supporting him from the back somewhere. Besides, there's no way I'll be there early enough for the front. And got my preggers wife to think of, last thing i want is her being squashed.

Seen him up close enough times to not be bothered on this occasion. smile

Good luck with that. This is a money grabbing festival and no food can be brought onsite. It isn't Glastonbury where they let you take as much food and booze as you like. Water in a sealed bottle only.

AND I GOTTA ALOTTA BUTTA 2 GO!
