I talked to the event organizer this morning who told me he had talked to Prince's manager today. She was supposed to be coming into town today and Prince is scheduled to come in tomorrow and stay through Sunday. There is the possibility that the event could be cancelled or perhaps moved to Saturday if all of Prince's very particular and required equipment doesn't arrive on time. If it is cancelled, refunds would be automatic charged back to your credit card if you purchased online. They are scrambling as hard as they can to make this all come together by tomorrow night. I've got a VIP table seat and I'm praying that all of the trucks make it into town or they move it to Saturday to give them some more time.

I hope they can do it tomorrow. A lot of people may already have other plans for Saturday. Anyone in the DFW area have a love-symbol-shaped guitar that Prince could borrow, just in case his doesn't make it?

Well six inches of snow since midnight and still coming down, coupled with poor tix sales, add in Black Eyed Peas having a concert that costs a wholoe lot less, and tons of other events tonight . . . confused

I just got notified from the event organizers that they still want me to volunteer, so it sounds like it is still going to happen (at least so far).

Do you know if Prince is here yet? If not, when is he supposed to arrive? There are several inches of snow outside our house.

No - I don't know if Prince is there. The hotel where is the concert is being held is all booked up though. I tried to book a room when I found out I'd be volunteering and there is nothing available.

I live in Dallas, too and there is at least 4 inches of snow at my house. I don't know how I'm going to get to Addison, but I'm determined to try!!

I'm not sure. I saw on the Twitter feed that the same sponsor is now offering two-for-one general admission tickets:

http://twitter.com/theeventdallas

That post is from today. I don't know how long the promotion is supposed to last, but the concert is scheduled to begin in five and a half hours.

The Dallas Morning News says that the event was canceled, but that cancellation has now been "rescinded" and the event will take place:

I like the suggestion in one of the comments that he could change the lyrics to "Sometimes It Snows In April" to fit the current situation.

Prince's Super Bowl conce...rescinded

The high-dollar soiree featuring Prince scheduled for Friday night was been canceed.

A statement released by Joyce Goss, Executive Director, The Goss-Michael Foundation stated: "We are extremely disappointed that theEvent featuring Prince, scheduled for Friday, February 4, at the Intercontinental Hotel, has been canceled. It is our understanding that River Alexander Group, the event organizer, was unable to fund and produce the evening. The organizer came to The Goss-Michael Foundation, invited us to be the beneficiary and receive some of the proceeds which would have gone to our high school scholarship program."

A few hours later, the foundation released this.

"Circumstances have changed and TheEvent featuring Prince WILL take place this evening. The previous statement is rescinded. Prince has arrived in Dallas and will perform this evening."

The price for admission to the concert was $1,500 for a single ticket that included general admission, open bar and food stations.

I think you hit the nail on the head before when you said we won't know anything for sure until he shows up on the stage.

I'm debating whether it's worth risking an accident on the Tollway to get to this thing. At least we have some official confirmation that he is in fact here.

It sounds to me like they didn't raise the money for his entire fee (like I said earlier) but that he's opting to do the show anyway because even tho it's not his fault, he's the one who will get the most negative backlash since he's here anyway.

I just spoke with a friend who said the sun is melting a lot of the snow and that in her opinion the roads are better than they were yesterday. I live in Allen and drove to downtown Dallas for several events yesterday and the roads were good. If you have a ticket, I'd definitely go, just take your time.

Based on the statement from Joyce Goss it sounds like the foundation isn't going to lose money either way, which is good.

it's in the ballroom at the hotel. I haven't seen the room where he performs yet but I will be going in there soon to set the tables up the roads were bad.
