I was physically done after the show, I don't know how he does a show like that and then an after party, INCREDIBLE. This was my first concert ever and now I have a standard what a concert should be like, wish I could shake that mans hand. Did anyone catch when he said "You don't have to watch the L-Word," maybe he is reading this forum.

OMG!!!! Best.Show.Of.The.Tour!! Great day from beginning 2 end. I just got home a few hours ago but am still on a purple high right now.
We 'listened' to Sharon Jones and The Daps but people-watched in the hallway...some of those outfits
We head to our seats b4 Prince arrives. Show starts with a concert video of Ike and Tina Turner...nice second act Prince!
He did a great job with the setlist! He had the staples in there, but they didn't seem as drawn out to me. He filled the space with some great jams. My favorites were:
*Anotherlover - just love this song and nice to see him do it
*SHH - I can never get enough of 'SHH' live with John Blackwell on drums...one of my all-time favorite live Prince songs
*Controversy - 'Do I believe in God? Do I believe in me? CONTROVERSY'...classic greatness right there
*Musicology - had a flashback to the Musicology tour in '04 (our first show) when he started this one. Sooo great!
*Angel - wow, the girls did a fantastic rendition of this Sarah Maclauclan (sp?) classic. Beautiful cover. Prayers to Shelby
*SHOE - wow, his voice was just on point with this song. Maceo came out and put his magic on it. Absolutely amazing!
*She's always in my hair - such a great B-side that I'm happy to see getting it's deserved recognition in this show.
*
*Dreamer - WOW!!!! Greatness defined right there.
*If
*Insatiable/Scandalous/Adore - Holy Shit! I swear I almost lost it when 'Insatiable' started.
*Peach - totally shocked to see him do 'Peach' Didn't see that one coming at all...Prince blind-sided me with this. So much fun.
Fantastic show all around! The energy was through the roof. Loved him playing with the audience lots...had the electric slide going. Joked a few times. Told everybody to hold up their cell phones real high and then let them go.
I want those skate add-ons that the Twins had on their shoes and I loved their 'U Got The Look' outfits. Prince was rockin' the Purple sequins and pants and looking 2 good to be almost 53 that's 4 sure
Then, it was over...damn u MSG and ur 11pm curfew
And, then the exiting of MSG which is never fun...felt like I was being suffocated and wanted to kick and punch my way to freedom and fresher air than what was in that hallway. Got to a stairwell and descended many fleights...stopped at one point to look out of a hole in the wall and get some fresher air than was in that stairwell (yes, there was indeed a hole in the wall...saw streetlights and taxi cabs...what's happening to MSG?
Days like this go into long term memory 4 sure. Stored and Adored.

Here's my 2 cents on last nights festivities...
Sharon Jones KILLED IT! The dancing and vocal styles you would swear this is an old group..and the Dapkings were ON POINT! One of the Hornsmen came into my section I think he had a friend who came to see the concert..
On to my man..
I died with the opening mix..I was so shocked. My Welcome 2 America Education consists of the December 17 @ IZOD, December 29 MSG of Course yesterday and Definitely 2/7!
I almost knocked the dude standing next to me out when I heard ADORE..I've never seen him perform that or SCANDALOUS. I was a hot sweaty mess during the LET'S WORK SET.
I also purchased tickets to Brooklyn Bowl and got there like 12a..No sign of him then I kept looking at the message boards and of course listened during the concert saying he was going to DARBY (I purchased my tix online yesterday afternoon). I left BB at 1:45 and now back at work.
SMH wondering if I just saw the best Live experience EVER.
Hope to see you guys on the 7th! and possibly another show!
Forgot to add one thing: I busted out laughing when he was doing the ole school dance saying [Edited 1/19/11 6:08am] [Edited 1/19/11 6:25am]

I'm so happy to hear that Prince did his thang last night. Ofcourse I so wish I was there. Now I'm thinking of really buying one cheap ticket for the last concert.
I just love this! Prince still got it!!!!! 30 years in the making. That's what legends are made of. Okay, enough Purple butt-kissing.

LOL! I felt the same way I never thought I would ever hear him perform Anotherloverholenyohead again - I haven't heard that live since '88 My body went numb! One of my fave songs ever and that fact that is was not done at any of the other shows just pure joy!
DITTO DITTO DITTO about Shh you just got to break it on down!!
Musicology brought me back as well to MSG 2004 when NPG Music Club was around and I never sat further than the first 10 rows (Damn it was a GREAT Fan club!!)
I blocked the people in my section (Section 106) and had a wonderful time rocking from side to side right along with Prince. I do not go to concerts to hold up walls and to make sure the chair works I live to party my ass off!
The first time I heard Prince sing Insatiable live was the after party for the induction to the RnR hall of fame at Club Exit(it was club black at the time) in '04 and I screamed so hard and loud I got dizzy and passed out! There is just something magical in that performance and no matter how many times I see him do it live, its just mesmerizing
Adore is my favorite song of all time. That perfomance right there made missing the Dec 29th show, the bad weather, getting the ticket last minute on Ebay(even though I had previous tickets and sold them), dealing with NJ/ NYC traffic, getting puddle splashed by a taxi and money spent WORTH IT!!
Heelys are no joke I tried my niece's pair and bust my ass!
Glad to read the responses from so many org'ers had such a great time at such a wonderful show! Eye Wish u Love, Eye Wish U Heaven

Thanks for the report. Sounds like you had major fun. Good to know Adore and Scandalous were played -- two mesmerizing songs.

I just remembered..sorry the purple fog is lifting slowly...Did yall peep that a fan got the guitar he was playing peach on? The wrestled for it..I wish I got it. Also I loved seeing MOS DEF, Jimmy Kimmel and AJ and so jealous of Leighton Meester!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
That's funny that they wrestled for it. Throwing his guitar in the crowd is something he always does, then the techs retrieve it.
In the meantime....chillin' at work waiting to read more reviews... [Edited 1/19/11 7:09am]

That's exactly what I love so much about Prince's dancing nowadays (as I have said in other posts)! He's enjoying himself, follows the rhythm and feels the music!!! And it all looks great!!!
Reading all these enthusiastic reviews fills me with envy and joy at the same time. I so wish I could be there cause I feel like I am missing something extremely special, and yet I am also thrilled about everyone's enthusiasm and how much you love his concerts! We in Europe felt the same when Prince toured here last year ... seeing him live is just the best experience ever!!! And it is so great to see how he continues to get everybody raving!!!
It just shows how much he really has in him! He always gives great concerts, but when he is in a great mood then he even tops himself!!! That's why he is the best live performer, IMO.
Now I am curious to see how many more MSG concerts there will be. Do you all still have lots of money to go back for more?

Please. Do you really think that playing samples or 10 seconds of several songs in a row, the dreaded medley, satisfies us "die-hards"? If anything, it makes me SMH even more. If you're not going to bother to play the damn song, why even bother! Just to tell people, "Remember? I did this song too!"? He's doing his own DAT intro now? Reminds me of the 2007 London shows.
Bruh I wasn't even at tha show I'm going off of tha positive feedback from twitter and this site. Your like the only negative one in this entire thread. He definatelymisnreading this site because a majority of complaints were made from tha 29th show and he clearly adjusted it. The Twinz again? Yeah. I rest my case on that one. A lot of the same ol' celebrities dancing on stage again? Wow. Great. and, his band STILL sounds like a cover band doing Prince tunes, with no flair or style. They're definitely "capable players", but they're only a smidge better than the group with the Dunhams in it, and that's not saying much. No "sound". No personality or oomph.
"You dont know my music"...and from the sounds of it, you don't know or remember too much of it yourself, Prince. *Morris Day laugh* "tonight ur a Star and I'm the Big dipper"

Man, this was THE show right here!!! Everything about last night was just amazing. I took the #3 train from work to the Garden and the way the train was ZOOMING down Broadway in Manhattan, I just knew it was gonna be a great night and sure enough, I was right! Me and a few others went to this restaurant called "Stout" by the Garden and while we were there, they played the "Sign O The Times" movie on ALL the screens! That hyped me and my crew up!!!! Then I met up with my uncle who came to the show with me and he met a bunch of the Purple bunch and saw what the Purple World is like.
Y'all know what the setlist is at this point but I tell you, to hear a bunch of song from after 1991 was the highlight for me and hearing Anotherloverholyinyohead live was amazing! And the beginning was with all of them songs he did a sample of, man, I was like a little girl up in there, and I'm a grown man!! [Edited 1/19/11 8:18am] I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Why I came to work, I don't know and I got days off too. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Sounds like you weren't at the show to come up with that silliness. And don't speak for the diehards, speak for yourself. You ain't representing me with that foolishness. If you were there, you would have saw that the more snippets he played, the more excited the crowd got. Once it got to "Kiss", the crowd went bananas. Prince obviously remembered his music or else why would he do what he did with it? The band was on point, the twinz did there thing, it was HOT. But why justify this to you? Prince could give you, alexnvrmnd777 the show you've been waiting on for years and you'd still bitch and moan about it. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

There were a good number of people around me who were sitting, but I got up and shook it like it was HOT! They are the ones who look like fools when they just sit there, especially for a song like "Lets Work" Like really? REALLY??!! I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
