But..then again...I was screaming like a crazy woman when I heard Hot Thing so, maybe I missed it.

i think it was just a tiny few seconds snippet in the beginning medley- i could be mistaken- i dont think i have all the snippets he included, but you get the idea. i went crazy when he did Sign of the Times cause i thought he actually might do it completely- but alas- did not happen.

Peach, ANotherlover, Insatiable, ... man he did some of My Faves tonight!

Did anyone else think the audience was sort of dead for the first half of the show?? Or was that just m section... I was going crazy but for the first half of the show I didn't think the audience was very excited... Then they got excited towards the end...??

yea, my section in 412 was dead-city. they didnt get up for the entire show. many in the front of the section didnt even seem into the show at all until the end. what a shame cause it was a great one. night and day compared to last month at the garden when he only did Kiss as an encore and then ran off. he pulled out all the stops on this one- i was so glad he really changed it up. can Feb. 7th even top this???-would be really hard to.

I'ma say it again, I'ma say it again...I'MA SAY IT AGAIN! Shame on those people with better seats then us. (I was in 302 last row) and just stood there not moving a muscle. Me and my sister were gettin' DOOOOWN! WOOOOO!!! We tore it up in section 302!! Reppin' it all the way baby!!! You don't pay 90 plus dollars to stand there and stare! I mean, heck. Most of my section was high and drunk and still not movement. I was fully sober and STILL got down. "Don't need no refer. Don't need cocaine. Purple music does the same to my brain and I'm hiiigh.....So higgh!"

.......Oh-oh-oh, by the way...He plays guitar.

You know what was cool. He was really having a great time and you could tell. He was just smiling and dancing so much. And I'm not talking about coreographed stuff. I'm talking about just gettin' down and having a good ol' time. You know when someone's gettin' down when they shake their booty, clap their hands with their head down boppin it to the beat. <<< yah...that was him.

Please. Do you really think that playing samples or 10 seconds of several songs in a row, the dreaded medley, satisfies us "die-hards"? If anything, it makes me SMH even more. If you're not going to bother to play the damn song, why even bother! Just to tell people, "Remember? I did this song too!"? He's doing his own DAT intro now? Reminds me of the 2007 London shows.

The Twinz again? Yeah. I rest my case on that one. A lot of the same ol' celebrities dancing on stage again? Wow. Great. and, his band STILL sounds like a cover band doing Prince tunes, with no flair or style. They're definitely "capable players", but they're only a smidge better than the group with the Dunhams in it, and that's not saying much. No "sound". No personality or oomph.

"You dont know my music"...and from the sounds of it, you don't know or remember too much of it yourself, Prince. *Morris Day laugh*

LOL!!! ^^^^

Well, I kinda get what you're saying about him playing the same ol' same ol' and I was kinda hoping for some rarities also because of all the complaining I heard about how blah his setlist has been lately. But for someone who hasn't been to a Prince concert ever....this was just GREAT! And believe me when I say this because I was loathing having to sit through Purple Rain. I had planned to sit there and record but that didn't happen! I was having so much fun. I guess if you've been to so many shows it's easy to say, hay, Prince...."no one's diggin' your music but yourself". But, I mean there's a large crowd to please. The flaky flakes and the die-hards. But, as a die-hard. I would say, this was fantastic. (Just wish he would have played WDC. He broke it down with that Adore tho....Woooo!! I would have paid a hundred bucks to see that one song performed. *shrug* but that's me.

it wasnt that the snippets in the beginning "satisfied" us. i think he does it to get the crowd pumped. of COURSE one would rather hear the actual song, but i think in order for him to do a show that would make ALL of us happy, it would prob. need to be 4-5 hours long, and we know thats not gonna happen. so i feel this show was a step in the right direction and was a breath of fresh air compared to the last few shows that didnt change a whole lot. this one showed he still has it when he is in the mood, and he WAS in a great mood. (and yes, i could do without the celebs on the stage too, i dont know why he likes to do that so much). a very enjoyable night- hopefully he will continue in this fashion.

iamazing as always! the energy fantastic. he looked GREAT. he wore a welcome 2 america turtle neck top similar to the lotusflower one he was wearing little while back, gold flatties with light up heels.

then a purple satin ruffle shirt number with jangly neckpiece & finally in2 purple glitter.

LOTS of dancing. at one point he does a mic trick, bounces it off his chest & very almost went in2 the split but thought better of it i think.

the twins appeared in 'heelies' during disco heat, like roller boot thingys.

of course maceo was there being brilliant

it was a fun show, but the most risque he got was doing medley on the keys at the beginning.. he did that guitar move with the twin during anotherlover as he went in2 the solo. so bold, big smile all over his face

he did dreamer & went in2 'welcome2 america' song. all the time his hair looked GREAT.

course i got pics wink

Well maybe the people that got tickets to this show wanted to hear more hits. Or maybe they are what I called, "Purple Rain" fans. Or maybe they were dead, who knows.

Looks like it was a great show and a good set list. But at the same time, it seems like it was a show for Prince fans; not casual Prince fans and not die-hards either. Just real Prince fans that have a great catalog of his music from various eras of his career! And I think that's great too! Everybody is not going to be a diehard or some extreme fanatic or even some casual fan or just a fan of his radio hits. There is some fans that are in the extreme middle and this song list seems really cool biggrin

I am so glad to hear that HE had a great time too! razz

yes, i think this set was a nice compromise. other than the medley in the middle with Cream, Cool, Lets Work- i honestly didnt know what he ws going to play- and that was refreshing. there were enough unexpected numbers played tonight that really surprised me. i have no complaints about this one(except that we didnt want to go home !!!).

I don't know. It seemed to me like he enjoyed it tonight. But then again, he looked like he was having so much fun throught the whole thing. I would be tired of playing that song if it was me. But, he's gotta do what he's gotta do. I bet most ppl who don't know any other Prince song besides what they hear on the radio would have a big impact on reiveiws and what not if he didn't play Purple Rain. I think alot of people become bigger fans of his just from hearing it live because of it being such a great experience. I know if I didn't know any other song, and he didn't play Purple Rain...I would be PIIIISED. For example. My sister is not a huge fan of Prince but she thinks he's FFYYYYYNE and doesn't know all his songs. If she knows anything it's because she's heard me play it. (so therefore you can say thanks to me Prince because she actually enjoyed herself 'cuz she knew your songs) Anyway....before the concert all she cared about was two things. "All he has to do is play Adore and I'm good." and "Sheila E? Is she here".

My point is. Had he not played Adore (because it's like the only song she REALLY knows.) She would have been very happy. Now, that's not to say she didn't have fun anyway. Now, let's say Adore is another person's Purple Rain..... << that's what I think. He's gonna have to play Purple Rain 'til his dying day. Thank you and goodnight.

Best part of tonight is that Prince looked really happy, relaxed, healthy. His guitar and waa waa pedal were in good form. Adore alone was worth the ticket. It was like he took the feeling he created with Gingerbread Man and stretched it out for an entire show.

i'm having a few last drinks here, and then off to bed and back to reality. work tomorrow. and don't let anyone tell you any different, this was a really good show with an inspired Prince tonight. he was not going through the motions at all. this one might go down as the classic MSG show- Feb. 7 is gonna have a real hard time topping this one. Just got in and all I can say is WOW. Opening was great....Prince came onto the stage went to his piano and kept teasing the crowd with what song he was going to play. In some order ...he sampled the following songs. After playing 10 or 15 seconds of each, he changed the song. He kept this going.....you will read:

Started with When Doves Cry Opening

skipped to Pop Life snippet

skipped to Alphabet Street

Skipped to Darlin Nikki and stated "please don't make me play that"

Skipped back to When Doves Cry

Skipped to Black Sweat

Skipped to Hot Thing!!! said "you don't know my Music"

Skipped to Nasty Girl

Skipped to Sign of the Times **actually sang the first line

Skipped back to When Doves Cry.."dig if U will the picture of u and eye engaged in a.."

Finally went into Kiss

also had a snippet of "Single Ladies" Beyonce.

You saw the setlist for the rest of the show......Only Prince can open a show like that!.

Ok...i've just come in my pants:-o
