He announced he was going to Darby's during the concert.

Brooklyn, what? lol

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

If Prince will be only at Derby tonight, then it' seems that P gives aftershows only to the famous people and their friends, and to people who involved in the show+their friends.

In this case I'm glad I didn't go to NY in such bad weather. Although I like Maceo Parker, I better see them next time when is nice and warm outside.

I remember the Darby when it was a totally different place. I think it was called Nell's back then? I think this is the same place.

Wow at the turn of events. I was just on twitter watching folks run to BB after the concert only to then run over to Darby and be standing on line outside since this is apparently VIP only. If anyone actually got in please let us know what went down inside.

It seems he's going strictly the VIP route for these aftershows while he's here in the city. Par for the course in NYC.

he told the singers/dancers at the end of the concert something like, 'go on to the darby afterparty, i'll meet u there..'

so we find out this is a restaurant come club place round the corner & go join a small queue, lots of ducking & diving going on..

leonardo di cap arrives, jay z walks by.. i shout oi! kanye & get a few laffs..

prince arrives about 1ish..he's sat between the twins, he legs it in2 the venue giggling.. not b4 i fam out & tell him 'i love ya prince!!' lol

there was never more than about 30 fans in queue, renato pops out 4 a fag, puffing away outside, shelby comes outside briefly & liv warfield left after a short while escorted toyboy..the twins are back & forth.

only selected people going in, i'm not pushing/shoving, not my style. it was all about who u know. it was fun anyway. bitter sweet experience i guess. left the line at about 2am, could hear some music from inside, defo wasn't prince at that point.

i got a pic, not great but i'll post within next couple days

Prince just left Darby. And for those who thrive on this kind of thing, he was rocking what appeared to be leopard print pants and a black coat. He didn't perform.

Until what time the party rolled at Brooklyn Bowl ? I left a little before 2AM to see what was happening at the Darby's as I thought that BB was supposed to end at 2. I hope that I didn't miss too much there. This last part that I saw with Maceo and Lettuce was so good.

According to Sharon, Prince jammed with the Dap-Kings at Darby.

Went to Brooklyn bowl. Pretty obvious from the get go that there would be an after party there. No room on stage or in the music. Real big band and a jam/funk band all the same. Good show. Maceo was Maceo. But a total goose chase. All the nay-sayers...... props!!!!!!

er

I left BB at 2am too, after I saw ?uestlove's tweet that he went to a different jam session. Toward the end of Maceo's set he thanked the musicians that played that evening and was like, 'I don't know where everyone (implied Prince) is, but I know I'm here!' There was a lot of side chatter w/ the musicians on stage, like they still didn't know if Prince was going to show up.

Prince letdown aside, Maceo & Lettuce were amazing and the two hours flew by. It was very funky. It's just unfortunate NY fans haven't had access to a Prince after-show. We have had like 7 concerts or whatever, so we can't get too greedy.

... but with current ticket prices and greed elsewhere, maybe we have a right to ask for a little extra.

With the apollo and now this, I'm going to wait for an official announcement before heading out in search of an ellusive secret show.

Yeah it used to be Nell's. I think Darby's opened around last Labor Day. Now it has the same Exec. Chef as Butter (another place we all know he loves to frequent).

I went to BB also. Maceo may have invited Prince, but there is no way he was going to play an aftershow to that corny ass crowd. Maceo was in fine form, along with the drummers. Rest of the band was struggling to keep up. The worst part was the crowd. While Maceo was jamming, people around me were dancing to some weird shit that was playing in their head biggrin

Official afterparty or else from now on. We deserve it, Prince!

The sound at BKBowl is amazing tho... better than most venues of its size that I've been to in the city... plus they have video screens all around so not a bad place to stand/sit.

Holds about 600 ppl... would be a great place for an aftershow.

But these aftershows seem limited to Rich Friends. And as long as Prince/LiveNation is trying to sell tickets to Madison Square Garden, the less likely there will be any other ticketed event. Most promoters don't allow for any additional ticketed performances independent of theirs until/unless THEIR show has sold out and there are no more shows scheduled.

Until and unless all the planned (announced and unannounced) LiveNation/MSG shows have sold out, and there are no more planned, chances of us getting anything else as a ticketed event are slim.
