Well you maybe sort of answered my question...Is something that I can get a ticket for later or decide that night? I too am not sure how I will feel that night if I want to go..I would like to decide last minute-like I usually do...but will this make me wait outside or something like that? I am not in the mood for that.....Esp driving back to Philly that night...

let me know about pre-boought tix or not..

It wouldn't make sense for them to clear out Brooklyn Bowl following Lettuce, make everyone stand in line and buy another round of tickets. If he's going to play, it'll be as part of the Lettuce concert. I'm basing this on Maceo playing following the MSG show.

The venue doesn't have an isolated VIP area w/view of the stage, so it's unlikely that Prince will just sit at a table and watch. If he's there, he's going to strap on a guitar.

That said, Soulive (a component of Lettuce) has a pretty solid fanbase and has repeatedly played/sold-out multiple-night residencies at Brooklyn Bowl, so it wouldn't be a stretch to assume this gig will sell-out at some point. It's just a matter of whether that happens before or after Prince is confirmed.

At ~$35/ticket, the potential gains outweigh the potential losses. At least from my p.o.v. I'm not a gambler.

Don't mean to rain on your parade, but it will probably depend on the weather tomorrow too since it's supposed to snow and rain in NYC earlier in the day, pretty much "sleetish" weather predicted tomorrow. Changing into rain by late afternoon/rest of the evening. In the morning it will starting off at 25 degrees rising to 38 degrees for the rest of the day/evening. Then again the weather never really stops New Yorkers from getting where they need to go, unless it's a blizzard/major storm.

Exactly--the rain/snow is a big factor for me..If I lived in NYC it would be very different...

When you guys say the benefits outweigh, (assuming you are for sure buying tix)I am just curious...Is this a venue that holds like 500 persons to see a show or much more> You can get 'up close and personal'..lol??

Finally...how is the music for the other bands honestly....

I am sorry for the questions..I just want no surprise should we want to go...

I think it was the night before Musicology at MSG that Prince popped up for Maceo's show in Prospect Park (brooklyn) and jammed for a couple songs at the end.

You're correct. It was the night before the GMA show in June, 2006, and he got on stage and jammed for a bit in Prospect Park with Maceo.

Per the website, it holds 600 people. Since the concert begins way before 11:30 (the earliest you could get there following the MSG show), Prince fans will be toward the back of the floor. However, if you assume people will be dancing or vibing out or whatever, it shouldn't be too hard to squeeze through to say 30 feet from the stage.

I've only been to one gig there (Robert Randolph & The Family Band) and the sound was on par or better than most NYC venues.

Unless Prince makes security tell the tapers to drop their mic stands (jam bands are tape-friendly), it's likely a good audience recording will circulate, so if you just want to hear the show, you can skip it.

Having seen Prince up close at a couple small gigs, there's definitely a different vibe that he brings. He's more laid back, less showy, and really does what he enjoys, which often means playing covers and taking forever to get on stage. It's an entirely different experience. You might prefer it or not. It's a special experience, no doubt.

As a Prince fan, I think it's totally worth it. I bought 3 tickets, even suspecting the other two people might not have the energy to go out to the show. This might be the only aftershow during the NY-run (thanks for nothing ex-Beatle member). At a cost similar to the ticketmaster surcharges you paid for the MSG tickets, you aren't going to find a better deal than this (if it happens).

Thanks I did not read the site...My bad. I am a more laid back type....so I would probably love it..Maybe I too will splurge and buy the tix (2 in our case) and if my frirend does not want to go..then I just loose it...

Lastly...is this a casual dress type place (ie be yourself) or glammed up??

Thanks..this is it..V

It's part-bowling alley. And it's in Brooklyn.

There's no dress code. I'm bringing comfortable sneakers because there's bound to be a lot of standing around. If Prince starts before 1:30, I'll be shocked.

I don't know why I'm on the fence about going to this concert..I live in BK but on the other side in Crown Heights and will be flying solo tonight at the concert. FYI: the $30 donation tickets are sold out so it's $50 and up..My Prince budget is about to pop 1G.

The weather is a bit nasty as far as a lot of slush and flooding in the streets from the melting snow of the last snowstorm, and light rain. A bit slippery in some spots, so just be careful when walking. As long as you're boot-up and have an umbrella, and dressed warm, you'll manage. As far as transportation there are some delays on some of the subway lines, but hopefully it will clear up by this evening. Driving is not too bad, but of course expect some gridlock due to the weather, especially around the time some school buses are on the road and rush hour (between 3pm - 7pm).

Also, I doubt traffic after 11pm will be too bad for those heading into Brooklyn, usually when the weather is like this, especially in the early part of the week, after 11pm, there shouldn't be too much traffic on the roads. For those going have fun! woot!

This is it folks!!!! The one everyone has been waiting for. ?uestlove, Maceo, Prince. Its going to be a great night of music. Anything could happen. If you can make it and you are opting out.... well are you really a fan? You see the venue.... you read the rumors.... feel the vibe and trust it. It is going to be a great great fan experience for anyone willing to slush through this weather and wait out the evening's pre-party. Will Dr. John and Prince share the stage? We will wait and find out. I will see all the true NY area fans tonight... not at MSG, I caught the 1st show, but at Brooklyn Bowl!

Do I have to rent bowling shoes?

Not sure if I'm going because of the weather. I like driving to NY myself, but the roads are pretty bad from what I heard from people who drove this morning to work to NYC.

And if I'm taking train this means I'll have to book hotel for the night, not sure if I want to do this.

@irinact, no, you don't have to rent bowling shoes, although that would be pretty funny.

I can't imagine Prince will let us down tonight. The Apollo thing was out of his control and I think he still has a place inside that wants to play for a small group of non-celebrity fans. This will be great.

lol at this whole thread. There's a RUMOR by the drummer of a band that Prince might be there and you all are buying tickets and have planned out the jam session. lol As Genesia pointed out earlier in the thread there is a big difference between afterparty and aftershow, for starters.

Also, do you think IF there is an afterparty/show that your ticket to the Soul II Soul gig is going to get you in? I would think you'd have to buy another/separate ticket.

Not to mention, I can't really see Prince slumming it in Williamsburg, and at a bowling alley of all places.

This is all just my own speculation, of course.

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

$75 tix are gone now too! Looks like this is gunna be a tight show. The lineup alone without Prince is great and has a fairly big following and this is for charity for Haiti, so its a good cause too. Also the weather will not be a factor. This is NYC 95% of the peeps going to the show won't be driving anyway and its only a few blocks from the subway. This show will be kick ass with or without Prince....Although I really hope he does come. Last time I saw an aftershow was during the One Night Alone Tour in what is now the Hard Rock Cafe NYC at Times square. He jammed with Alicia Keyes, Maceo, Musiq Soul Child, George Clinton, Larry Grahm, Q-tip and many others. It was off the hook. The best Prince show I ever saw, ever. The first 3 songs of that set is one the Live disk on the One Night Alone box set.

LOL! I just called BB. Woman was very nice. She said SHE doesn't even know if he's gonna show up tonight. It's so funny that she didn't even mention his name and neither did I, but we both knew who we were talking about. lol

I say if you're out 30 or 50 dollars and you can afford it it's not a huge deal given the potential reward. Plus Prince can "slum it" in Williamsburg if he's got a driver that'll take him there, and wait for him, and take him back to his hotel later. I'd slum it everywhere if I had that.

I'd also imagine that the ticket to the show will get you in cause you'd already be IN. I highly doubt that they'd make you leave only to have you purchase ANOTHER ticket. If he's gonna be there and perform and you have a ticket, you should be good to go.

1. No one is ever "slumming" in Williamsburg. It is one of the hippest places on the planet.

2. This mere "bowling alley" hosted shows by Kanye West, Snoop, N.E.R.D. and the Roots last year.

3. ?uestlove DJ's there all the time and he is going to be there tonight.

4. Maceo is on the bill and the last time Prince played an aftershow in NYC it was with Maceo in Brooklyn.

5. The show is a benefit show for a great cause so I doubt Prince would try to gain financially by tacking on an extra cost and make people who were supporting Haitian Relief file out of the club to buy tickets to get back in.

6. Brooklyn Bowl is run by club promoters who have been instrumental in the NYC nightlife for over 30 years.

You are correct that this is all based on a rumor. Sad to say that so much of Prince's promotions are based on rumors; that plus the fact that he has decided to disengage from the internet, people are going to cling on to whatever little signs they can find for the ever elusive aftershow.

As for "slumming" it in Williamsburg... he had no problem "slumming" it to see Lauryn Hill in December when she performed there (although he left because Ms. Hill took too long to hit the stage). And "bowling alley" is not really the best characterization of this performance space... it's been the home of a LOT of great performances by up and coming bands. And Williamsburg has become the home of a lot of great venues, some of which relocated after being pushed out by Manhattan gentrification.

MSG is an after thought tonight. Get to Brooklyn Bowl around 10pm and soak in some great music by some of the legends of the past 40 years.

Dr. John is New Orleans. Maceo in Funk. ?uestlove is hip hop. And Prince is all things more, less and in between. Who knows who else will show up at this show?

Be prepared for a LONG night. I was at Terminal 5 for the RnR Hall of Fame after show and didnt get out of there until 3:30am.
