You're right about Punk-Danielson not being a big enough draw (which is why I gripe so much about American wrestling), and I'd love to see Austin have another run, but this crap of the "stars" coming back for one shot matches is bullshit.

If Austin is going to go at it with Punk or anyone else, they need to BUILD it, and not through week after week of promos. Shit talking is cool, but ass kicking has got to go with it. Jericho-Punk really isn't grabbing my attention, but at least Lionheart is in the ring WORKING leading up to the big show.

I know Austin has physical limitations, but come on...if they can bring Hogan back like they did in 2002 and get a few months of action out of him, Austin can definitely do better.

The Rock...there's no excuse for him to just be running his mouth for months leading up to WM. What was the point of him working the Survivor Series and then going back to sitting on his ass for four months? PRIMA DONNA!

hehehe valid points and ur right that the rock should be getting in matches by now. my guess is they don't want 2 take the chance of the rock, trips, undertaker getting hurt thus killing wrestlemania...wait they already are killing it with their "build ups" lol

People are foolish thinking The Rock was going to be wrestling full term lol

Well, he has said he would consider coming back for one more match if the program and the money are right. He wanted to feud with CM Punk, but only if Punk was the good heel he always WAS. So, people are speculating Austin will be a part of next year's WM.

Smackdown Tapings (to be aired on 3/16):

The show opened with the Peep Show segment involving Christian and guests John Laurinaitis and Teddy Long. Laurinaitis and David Otunga came out together to great heat. Long got a nice pop.

Christian asked Long and Laurinaitis to convince him which team he should be on. Laurinaitis said he'd give Christian a title shot if Team Laurinaitis wins, so Christian joined his team. Teddy tried to set up Christian in a match, but Johnny stopped it. Instead, they went with Kofi Kingston, now on Team Teddy, facing David Otunga, who wore his sweater vest.

1. Kofi Kingston defeated David Otunga. Otunga worked the match in his regular pants, which split halfway through the match. Funny. Kofi won with Trouble in Paradise.

There was a Daniel Bryan and AJ segment. Bryan said the dress AJ was wearing looked better on the mannequin.

2. A.J. (w/Daniel Bryan) defeated Brie Bella (w/Nikki). No one seems to know which Bella Twin wrestled the match. Does it matter? AJ won with a rollup.

Chris Jericho vs. Sheamus was announced as the main event.

Cody Rhodes came out and cut a promo about Big Show and their match at WrestleMania 28.

3. Cody Rhodes defeated The Great Khali with Beautiful Disaster.

Randy Orton comes out and calls Kane out. Kane comes to the stage and shows a video of them wrestling and shaking hands last year. Kane says that made him sick and weak. Closure will come at WrestleMania. Orton calls Kane to the ring but he won't come. The match is official for WrestleMania.

4. Big Show DESTROYED Drew McIntyre.

5. Mark Henry defeated Yoshi Tatsu in a squash match.

Chris Jericho comes out and talks some more about CM Punk's father being a drunk. Jericho goes on about how he is the best in the world and Punk is just a wannabe. Jericho tries to get the crowd to chant "CM Drunk" to no avail.

6. Chris Jericho defeated Sheamus by count out after Daniel Bryan came down and attacked Sheamus while he was out on the floor.

Oklahoma to suspend all pro wrestling and MMA events

Effective March 31, the Oklahoma State Athletic Commission will no longer be accepting new applications for combat sport events to be held within the state. This includes professional wrestling, MMA, and boxing.

Joe Miller, Executive Director of the Athletic Commission, issued a letter to all promoters in Oklahoma on March 5 explaining the situation:

The purpose of this letter is to inform you the Oklahoma State Athletic Commission will not be accepting applications for event permits for events scheduled after March 31, 2012.

The Commission is faced with an out-of-state threat that, if successful, could greatly affect the Commission's ability to provide for the public safety and for the health and safety of the athletes for future events throughout the state of Oklahoma.

The Commission is currently trying to address legal and legislative efforts which have given us serious concerns about how we move forward with adequate oversight of Oklahoma's boxing, mixed martial arts, and professional wrestling events.

As you know, the primary focus of this agency is to make sure the athlete's health, and safety is not compromised. We take this charge very seriously.

The Commission and I will be working diligently to address these issues and develop a plan of action to return to a normal course of business.

Oklahoma currently taxes PPV buys made by residents 4%, no matter where the events are held. UFC, operated by Dana White, says they plan to sue the Commission to stop the tax. The Commission claims that without the tax, they can't maintain the overhead needed as an authority. The tax accounts for 2/3rds of their budget, and is responsible for 65% of the Commission's revenue receipts.

In an email to MMAValor, Miller stated the costs of regulating events in the state of Oklahoma:

It takes approximately $360K for the Commission to provide regulation for the approximately 275 events per year we regulate. The Oklahoma State Athletic Commission does not receive any state funding. We are funded solely from license fees, assessment on live events, and an assessment on pay-per-view events. We receive approximately $137K per year through license fees and assessments on live events. Receipts from Pay-per-view are approximately $240K per year. About $80K per year comes from UFC PPV. The UFC has threatened a law suit against our PPV law unless our legislature repeals our PPV law during this legislative session. The Commission loses either way. OK has been collecting on PPV since 2004 and this is the first time the issue has been brought to light. For the Oklahoma Commission to survive and for Combat Sports to continue in Oklahoma it will be up to the Oklahoma legislature to come up with a solution to the funding shortfall. You can do the math.

After speaking to a representative for the Commission in Oklahoma City while writing this, one boxing event is confirmed for April 7. This event was scheduled and confirmed in February of last year, well before any news of the UFC's intent to sue became public.

Until the threat of the lawsuit is resolved, all licenses have been revoked, including for events already scheduled. WWE has a live RAW broadcast set for October 1 in Oklahoma City. Tickets are scheduled to go on sale this summer. Calls and emails to World Wrestling Entertainment have gone unanswered as of this writing.

WWE's Joey Styles appeared on The VOC Nation show yesterday. The full interview can be heard at VOCNation.com. Here are some highlights:

On whether WWE should give mention to TNA during Ric Flair's Hall of Fame appearance: "…we won't, that would make us morons. Fans who know, (Flair is in TNA) know; fans who don't know, don't know. There is no downside to Flair going, and if (TNA) doesn't let him, they come off as classless. It's a pretty good chess move by the WWE. I can't imagine why anyone at TNA would not want that to happen (for Ric Flair)."

On whether ECW should be represented in the WWE Hall of Fame: "My opinion…next year with Wrestlemania in New York…Paul Heyman should go into the WWE Hall of Fame. Verne Gagne is in, Mike Graham is in, and there is no reason not to incorporate Paul Heyman, and next year in NY is the time to do it."

On who is the guy who will carry the WWE torch in the future: "Without getting into a long list, I think given the opportunity and handed the ball, Dolph Ziggler could score again and again and again. I see a lot of great performers in Dolph Ziggler."

On whether Jim Ross should call Wrestlemania: "Jim Ross should call the Undertaker/Triple H match, because it was the end of an era, and he was a big part of that era."

On Michael Cole: "Michael Cole is a great announcer when he is allowed to just be a lead announcer. I don't like Michael Cole doing what he is doing now."

WWE CFO George Barrios spoke at the annual ROTH OC Growth Stock Conference in California earlier this week.

Barrior spoke about the WWE Network and said that the company is in intense negotiations with cable companies. Barrios talked about WWE being close to having a plan to distribute the content and how they feel this is still the best option to monetize more of their content.

WWE plans to spend $35-$45 million more on the WWE Network in 2012.

Barrios was asked why WWE hasn't made new big Superstars to replace the ones who have recently left and the ones who will be leaving soon like Triple H and The Undertaker. Barrios talked about how WWE is going through turning over their roster after several injuries and retirements. He admitted that WWE does not know who the next big Superstar is right now.

source: WrestlingInc

Duh!! They've been saying the same shit for a few years now. And the only one who's remotely close would be CM Punk. They sit there and push wrestlers to the moon for a couple of months, and then job them out for no apparent reason, and they never recover from it. No one believes they're a viable threat for anything at that point. Dolph Ziggler and Sheamus are two prime examples.

Recently, The Rock was interviewed by Ryan Seacrest on Ryan's On Air radio program. During the interview, The Rock discussed living in Florida, the "Rock Concert" on Raw and WrestleMania 28. Here are some of the highlights:

On living in Florida: "I've made my home down in south Florida for some time now. I went to the University of Miami. So, Florida has always been a base but I wanted to by a nice, little property and do a little move."

On the rumor of Vanilla Ice being the man designing his new home: "I'm not too sure where that came from. I was a fan of Vanilla back in 1991 but no. I got a helluva design team that's coming in. It's not Vanilla Ice. I'm not too sure where that came from. [Laughs.] It's crazy. But, no, no, no. No Vanilla Ice. I got my team. They're coming in."

On singing during Raw's "Rock Concert": "You know, the idea was to put on a great show. We went to Cleveland, it was this last Monday and we broke an all-time sell-out record for that building for the 'Rock Concert' and I had a blast. And yes, I will be coming on Idol so put in a good word."

On wrestling John Cena at WrestleMania 28: "Down here. My hometown of Miami at Dolphin Stadium/Sunlife Stadium and we broke a one day ticket sales record. I think, like, 50,000 tickets were sold in one day. It's going to be a helluva event."

During the interview, The Rock also gave Seacrest of a championship belt with his name on it.

Big Show, David Otunga and Stephanie McMahon lead be a STAR rally in Bridgeport, Conn.

WWE Superstars Big Show and David Otunga, along with Executive Vice President of Creative Stephanie McMahon, rallied a group of 850 students at the Luis Munoz Marin School in Bridgeport, Conn., on Thursday as part of the be a STAR Alliance’s campaign to end bullying. (PHOTOS | VIDEO)

The WWE trio were welcomed to the school by Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch and State Representative Andres Ayala Jr., who presented McMahon with a citation for the be a STAR Alliance’s work in fighting against bullying.

“Kids define themselves. Other people’s hurtful words don't define them,” McMahon said.

She then encouraged the students to help stop bullying and learn to show tolerance and respect for each other.

Big Show, who stands in at seven feet tall, talked about how his size made him a target for bullies. At the age of 12, The World’s Largest Athlete was six feet, two inches tall and weighed 220 pounds. “Other kids called me names and threw rocks at me,” Big Show said.

He continued by telling the children something that helped him get through the bullying. “If you're bullied there's nothing wrong with you. It's not your fault,” the former World Heavyweight Champion said.

Otunga, who is also a Harvard-educated lawyer, shared experiences of when he was bullied as a child growing up in Chicago because he wore glasses. “They didn't know they were bullying me. They thought they were being funny,” he explained to the kids.

For Otunga, the bullying ended when his tormentors found out the effect their words had.

“Once the bullies were told they were hurting my feelings, the bullying stopped,” the former WWE Tag Team Champion said.

Big Show closed out the rally by leading the children in a chant to re-enforce the message of the assembly. “Don’t be a bully,” the Superstar bellowed.

“Be a STAR!,” the kids yelled back.

The fifth through eighth grade students are part of the “Lighthouses in the Community” program, which provides the city’s youth with a safe and supportive environment after school and in the summer.

The be a STAR Alliance is a partnership between WWE and more than 50 organizations, including The Creative Coalition, GLAAD and the Girl Scouts of America. For more information, go to www.beastaralliance.org. You can also follow the alliance on Twitter and Facebook.

After Monday's RAW Supershow with John Cena's rap and The Rock's concert, a fan on Twitter wrote to The Rock about how he was "keeping kayfabe" and Cena wasn't but Rock was still "owning him."

The Rock replied:

""Breaking kayfabe" is easy, cheap and never entertaining. Boys who are desperate do it all the time."

Cena replied with the following today:

"Agreed @therock People should stick to the difficult stuff like mom jokes, sexuality, and making light of someones appearance. #WM28"

Tonight's episode of Extra opened up with WWE Divas Champion Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres being held back by security from Maria Menounos as she was filming a segment for the show with Kelly Kelly.

They later showed footage of Menounos introducing and interviewing Kelly Kelly. Kelly talked about Beth Phoenix being her WrestleMania competition before showing a clip of Eve and Beth walking into the interview to interrupt. Maria brought up how she pinned Beth Phoenix before and they aired the footage.

Beth grabbed Menounos by the chin and demanded an interview but was pulled back by security. Eve and Beth challenged Maria to a match at WrestleMania 28 and Kelly promised to have her back in an apparent tag match.

If it ain't Kharma vs Beth, there shouldn't be shit concerning the Divas on Wrestlemania. This is one of the stupidest angles ever....and that's saying something considering it's the WWE we're talking about.

Studio will team with the Connecticut-based entertainment company on a reboot of "Leprechaun," the 1993 horror pic that was one of the first starring roles for Jennifer Aniston and an indie hit. Pic was produced by now defunct studio Trimark, which was eventually absorbed by Lionsgate in 2000.

Both Lionsgate and WWE Studios will share producing costs as well as team on marketing strategies. Lionsgate will handle distribution.

Pic is set for a 2013 release, though there is currently no writer, director or cast attached. The other film in the deal has yet to be determined.

WWE, the home of a handful of wrestling programs, is readying to launch a new TV network and restructuring its film division. WWE Chairman-CEO Vince McMahon wants to give WWE Studios some time to grow under new head Michael Luisi, who was tapped to oversee the division in September.

Rather than fully develop and produce its own slate of films, Luisi has been busy picking up films from festivals such as Sundance and Toronto, co-producing projects with other shingles, and locking down deals with Fox to grow its direct-to-homevideo franchises like "The Marine" "to improve the profitability of our movie business," McMahon said.

Upcoming films for WWE Studios include "No One Lives," starring Luke Evans and WWE personality Brodus Clay, "Barricade," starring Eric McCormack; and cult hit "The Day" starring "Lost" vet Dominic Monaghan, Shawn Ashmore, and Ashley Bell, which was purchased at the 2011 Toronto Film Festival.

As for its deal with Lionsgate, Luisi said: "We have been looking for ways to continue our relationship with Lionsgate and we saw 'Leprechaun' as the perfect opportunity to take a well-known franchise and put a modern-day spin on it. This is a property that we believe our audience will respond to and we continue to look for ways to surprise and engage them."

Lionsgate and WWE have teamed before on pics "See No Evil" and "The Condemned."

WWE has a huge male fan base it can tap into, with wrestling programs strewn across the dial, as well as a profitable pay-per-view business with "Wrestlemania."

The best thing for them to do is to distribute shit they had absolutely nothing to do with. So, purchasing distribution rights to films from film festivals is definitely their best bet. Because their own shit SUCKS! Even their trailers are boring as shit (most recent example is Edge's new "movie"), and we all know trailers are supposed to be the best of the best of a film. disbelief

So is it just coincidence The Undertaker and now his "brother" Kane can't get over shit from last year? lol

It must be in Kane's contract he always gets to perform at WM because they always seem to just throw him into any ol' feud a week or two before the event for what seems to be years now neutral

I keep wondering if Mark Calloway and Mr. Jacobs (I forgot Kane's first real name) had signed a contract that they won't get any money until after doing a significant amount of appearances on Wrestlemania? Are they binded to a contract that they have to perform at this particular event because it would lead to big cash once either of them decided to retire?

Thanks, I knew it started with a 'G' but I wasn't sure if it was that or George or something...
