I wonder if there are some guys out there who prefer to have needy, desperate chicks who are always on their case or if they would rather have an independent woman who has her own opinions but is supportive of the guy. It seems like guys aren't really checkin' for real women anymore who have their own life. Why do the drama queens who are real high strung always seem to get the guy?

Well see... it simply depends on the guys! Some guys do want the needy desperado honeys because it makes their insecurities less so. 'Always on their case' prime example of guys wanting some kind of control. Then he feels 'like a man' in control, the assertive. I can think of nothing worse than a woman ringing up and txting me every 10mins. Nightmare!

Give me the independent but supportive woman any day of the week! But its a interesting point, I feel the same way about women wanting the perfect man instead of a real one, but hey ho - it keeps the planet spinnig I guess?!

I wouldn't want a needy, clingy woman but I can't say I've ever been in that kind of a relationship anyway. For me it's usually the opposite that is the problem; since I generally get attracted to opinionated, smart, strong women they're usually fiercly independent too, sometimes a bit too much so. I think all men want to feel needed on some level. We have that protective instinct, and to be together with a woman who never needs protection or consolation or support feels emasculating in some weird way. I guess as always, too much of anything is not a good thing.

Men say one thing and do something entirely different.

Some men like the desperate ones because it makes them feel like they can control them, usually by making them feel like they're lucky to be even looking at them. I have a girlfriend of mine who was in one of those. Thankfully she dumped his stupid snooty ass and is now in a more fulfilling relationship. The needy ones can be just crazy sometimes. Phonecalls and texts every 10 minutes?

I went out with a guy who acted desperate like that, and people said I'm the one acting like the guy, as if women can't be the independent ones with a life outside the relationship. He didn't like it though he said he's cool with it. His actions said something else and brought on distress for months. And he would try to convince why we are good and focusing on the good points was just not good enough for me anymore

Thanks everyone for the comments Well, I guess it does boil down to the individual but it seems like I keep seeing this same pattern with guys all the time. Right now, there's a dude that I'm catching feelings for (I'm trying NOT to like him but it keeps coming up anyway). Anyway, we do a lot of community activism and whatnot together BUT it seems like these other two broads are circulating around him more and they basically kiss his ass. He KNOWS I am not like that at all. Bird one, she's the type who seems like she constantly texts/calls him and in spite of her being a single mom, she seems to make hella time to be doing all this extra stuff suddenly. Also, this same heffer tried to make me look bad in front of this dude more than once....

Bird two, well she's kinda around but not as much as bird one, but it seems like she throws herself at him...I don't always break his balls but I let him know when something's going good or terribly!

All that said, I will NOT fight over a dude but it's funny, he mentioned something about some random thing he wanted to work on. I challenged him on a few points and he's like, "Oh well, Bird one and bird two are down so" and then I gave him a piece of my mind about how I didn't like his idea because it was a bit of a waste of time, but he seems to appreciate my directness because he keeps communicating with me all the time! But, I wonder why he even bothered specifcally mentioning those two chick to me, am I reading too much into it or was he trying to make me jealous???? There's a lot of us working together but why did he call out those two chicks to me?

I'm gonna let those two birds annoy him to death while I lay in the cut (yes, think of Laydown), and see what happens. I am not old but I am too old for that non-sense!

Let's be honest here, when people use the term "real" they simply mean themselves.

I don't care if I come off as empathetic because I'm simply stating the truth and the OP showed this already.

But here is what I do know based on experience.

Men like (and stay) with women because of how that woman makes them feel. It's really that simple.

People are different and have different wants and needs. They have different fuck ups and issues so they will find someone that best caters to those needs.

I think maybe you are reading too much into it. But I also think the guy isn't really worth it. So whatever feelings you have, try your best to minimize them.
