Do you still love your exes? I can't think of any exes that I hate. They are all still special to me.
Personally once I feel something for someone that will never change, even if I don't obsess about them anymore.
I expect to love them forever, what about you? My Legacy

I pretend I don't. It's a lie and I do a decent job of keeping it believable.

I think that is a very honest answer, and a lot of people who "hate" their exes really feel the same as us. My Legacy

Honey how much time do you have and is there a cigarette Nearby?
i hate all of my exes
there's the older dumber one who lied to me for 2 years about actually loving me.
there's the rapper who wanted to be a FBI agent who turned out to be a jerk.
there's the fat guy who is 400 pounds and tried out for the football team and didnt make it obviously major asshole there.
there's the guy i kissed in preschool who years later doesnt even remember who i am which is sad.
the guy i almost had sex with but he turned out to be like major gross and smelly.
the guy i almost had sex with on my 10th birthday but i was smart enough to not go all the way.
my best friend alex right now who is in love with a evil bitch and i for some reason actually might be in love with the guy.
there's actually a lot more than that but yes i hate all of my exes exeept for alex but my patience with him is growing thin Love Should Last Forever Even If It To The Purple Yoda From Minnesota

I respect the role they played in taking myself higher in my spiritual evolution (living with the devil will do that) but it's a yes and no. I'm glad I don't have the same radical feelings for them I once did but I do wish them well.

I know some guys who get upset if a girl keeps pictures of exes. Personally I want to see some of the exes, especially from childhood, to better know my gf and what made her into the woman I love (and obviously will love forever whatever might happen to us ) My Legacy

I have not had very many girlfriends, so the ones I have had mean a lot to me (for the role they played, and also for the fact that I don't enter into a relationship lightly)
There were some moments where I thought they did me wrong and was very upset, but almost invariably realized I did more wrong than them and that they were consistent and rational in their dealings with me. My Legacy

Ex-Moderator | If I loved them when I was with them, then yeah, I still care about them. Even if I don't love them in that way anymore, there is still love there.
I could never hate an ex. I don't hate anybody. |

I never had a problem with my more recent ex keeping a pic of her ex/father of her kids at her desk at work until she took issue with me wearing the ring I got for my first father's day (which reminded her of my ex-wife). The picture itself didn't bother me, but the double standard did.

That's what I think, nobody has turned out to be evil, so there's no reason for my feelings to have changed.
But a lot of people claim to hate exes, I wonder what makes that happen. My Legacy

yes the double standard is probably what keeps many of us from being friends w/exes. Jealousy is tough to avoid, so in many instances it's easier to end all ties. My Legacy

do you think you played any part in that--the choosing of the wrong person, I mean, not that you deserved it, obviously!
In retrospect could you have chosen more wisely, or were there no signs that these people had these negative qualities? My Legacy

I guess it's because of those very same lingering feelings that you're talking about. They can create all kinds of trouble when you're no longer together but still stay in each other's lives. At least that's how it is for me, but I know that for some people, almost their whole circle of friends are made up of old exes.

Of course and thank God you are the one asking this because I would have murdered Captain Obvious if it were anyone else!
Victimizers need victims and vice versa. I played out something that was in my family lineage for me to do. I have broken the cycle for myself and will work to help the younger generation to break the chains too.
In the beginning with my first ex, I took his jealousy as a sign he loved me. Being desperate for love from a man, that felt good. I had no idea he was on drugs because he was quiet, slept and ate and had eyes so dark you couldn't see his pupils and none of that is the signs of someone on speed. He was 210 pound bodybuilder, again not a sign of someone on speed. Having the experience now I would be able to tell from his irrationality that he was high but no other sign no.
In my second relationship I had been sick for 5 years and thought it was my last chance to be loved. I compromised on a lot of things because I really truly thought I was dying. I had surgery within the first year and had to come to grips with the fact that I was still living.
Both relationships brought me to the darkest places I have ever been but a seed needs the darkness for a certain period of time in it's own growth before it reaches for the light. I am reaching for the light and those relationships served me on my spiritual path so ultimately I am thankful for the path that I have been allowed to travel 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

that sounds very gay. I mean that is how it tends to be in gay life. The circle is so small that you can't help but run into people you've been with and sometimes exes have relationships with each other. It's can be extremely incestuous. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

It's good you recognize that, I wasn't suggesting it had to be that way.
I do believe people get tricked betrayed and would not have any way of knowing it in advance, but I feel that may be more rare than someone making bad choices--esp with men! Someone likes bad boys, they're gonna get a bad boy! My Legacy
