polkadotbliss

personally-a girl that looks like she needs a good feed or fix is a way bigger turn off than a healthy girl any day

the problem arises when i see a bigger girl in the wrong clothes

ii may not be Gok Wan but am good with clothes-and always feel like going over to them

of course i have never done-nor would i dare to

but skinny girls dress badly/wrong too

as long as you get the clothes/outfit right

your away

and for the record-awful skinny veiny arms-bony shouders-orange tan-way too much make up-oversized barbie boobs pushed up 2 the chin lol-most of the girls in my local nightclubs and all over the UK..now theres turn offs

and

skinny equals-tired easily-whereas bigger girls seem more.....

energetic wink

Those women are fine looking ladies....but again as other people have said, the photos have been photoshopped still. So you have to ask whether what was removed would affect how attractive they actually are? Possible stretch marks may have been removed and other such things. They are also under a ton of mark up and hair product, so again is this really what these women look like?

The sad thing is, they would still be considered good looking ladies without all this tinkering!

Having said that, there is a fine line. Saying bigger women are still hot is fine, alot of them are....but ladies, don't take that as permission to never get off the sofa ever again, to never hit the gym, to live off crap food, etc. Aside from the lardy implications your actual health could be at risk!

Case in point, with the summer here in the UK you wouldn't believe the amount of size 18 plus ladies shoe-horning themselves into size 10 or 12 clothes and sweating themselves around town (UK sizes here, not sure what the US equivalent is). Honey, that's not a good look.

I think size 14 or 16 is fine, 18 (unless you're super tall) or up and its not good...more to the point its probably damaging your health.

nod Just like all the super-thin actresses and models with tons of body make-up. How many times have we seen websites with pics of your fave stars with no make-up and in a bikini with tons of cellulite still showing???

You don't have to be overweight to have be very unhealthy, have cellulite, high cholesterol, blood clots, etc.

What about MINDING YOUR OWN FUCKING BUSINESS. I hope you don't take that personally, because I don't know you. But what ABOUT the "health implications"? Shit, my husband weighs twice as much as I do, and I have a million more health issues than he does. lol

We all make poor health choices, whether smoking, drinking, too little sleep, overindulging, what have you.

I love you! hug

And I will say that in no way would I ever ridicule any woman who is thin if that's the natural way she is. Many women who used to be rail thin naturally gain weight after having babies. Or after menopause. They still eat a healthy diet but the hormones kick in and you get some softening and extra pounds.

But if you eat lettuce for breakfast, lunch, and dinner because you are terrified that a man won't want you if you gain weight, or if you are aspiring to look like a super-model because society has drilled that into your head, then yes, you are stupid. nuts

When 9 year old girls are on diets there is something wrong with our society. confused

Remember this story???

Catwalk girl, 18, dies six months after her model sister starved herself to death

Last updated at 10:50 15 February 2007

A teenage model whose sister starved herself to death has also died of suspected anorexia.

Eliana Ramos, 18, collapsed six months after her sister Luisel had a heart attack during a fashion show and triggered an international debate over the use of size zero models on the catwalks.

Special report: the size...shion Week

scroll down for more

Skinny: Eliana models a bikini and, right, her older sister Luisel on the catwalk shortly before her death

Fashion bosses in Madrid and Milan have set a minimum body mass index for girls appearing in their shows in an effort to discourage starvation diets and eating disorders.

But bosses at London Fashion Week - which is now in full swing - have refused to follow suit. Eliana's death will add to the pressure on the industry.

The sisters' devastated family said Luisel, 20, had been told she could "make it big" if she lost a "significant" amount of weight and was "under much pressure and stress".

It appears her sister followed in her footsteps after collapsing at the home she shared with her grandmother.

She was found dead in her bedroom in her Montevideo home in Uruguay on Tuesday. A police source said: "The primary diagnosis is death due to symptoms of malnutrition."

Her grandmother, who discovered her body, wept: "This has happened to me twice. The girl would not wake up. I went into the house and saw her eyes blank and her knees tucked up."

Several months ago Eliana, who was 5ft 7in tall, weighed 8st 10lb and had a BMI just over the minimum 18 set by Madrid fashion bosses.

But recently she had apparently been losing weight rapidly, although it was unclear whether she had been doing so deliberately to further her career.

She was spotted by modelling scouts when she was 16 and became one of the leading girls on the books of major Argentine agency Dotto Models.

Eliana's boss Pancho Dotto said of her death: "It is absurd that people are speaking about anorexia or bulimia in this tragic case.

"She had never had problems with her diet. It is obvious the sisters' deaths must be due to a genetic problem."

Eliana's death also comes three months after Brazilian model Ana Carolina Reston, 21, died of anorexia on the eve of a Paris photoshoot after existing on a diet of apples and tomatoes.

A spokesman for the British Fashion Council, which organises London Fashion Week, said it was aware of Eliana's death but did not want to speculate on its cause. It insisted that regulation is neither "desirable nor enforceable".

I find that really patronizing. As a solid female that could most likely bench your ass under the table, and out plyometrics your ass, I find it offensive. I've been athletic all my life. Sports, 1/2 marathons, and leisure sports too. Lane Bryant's mannequin is exclusively a mold of an American Speed Skater's body. Yeah there are a lot of people that don't do the right thing, but as a solid chick I do. And I love the look on every doctor's face when I tell them I ran a half marathon, work out daily, and my cholesterol is lower than yours. Oh and how LOW my resting heart rate is.

Never assume. And besides, it's not about how I look, it's about my health first. And like I said before, my man likes the way it tastes either way, so we are good in that dept. too.

I think you are missing the point, it is not just about minding your business and it is not just caring about someone's health.

It is about what affects my horny. If something interferes with my attraction, it is a woman's responsibility...nay...her mission to alter that behavior/attribute IMMEDIATELY! How else might I achieve my eye boners?

Well, I believe if you must be slim, do it for health reasons and your own personal self-esteem. Not to attract the wrong kind of attention. All women should learn to embrace what they have and work with it.

And I say this from painful, personal experience. sigh I'm not overweight or anything, but I've suffered from body image issues all my life. It's only now I've learned to accept myself. But it's still a work in progress. neutral

And as far as men wanting size 0-2, jump a corpse's bones. Same experience. lol

confused Wow, the men who had sex me sure did not feel that way...

I wonder why in every discusson about not skinny women the skinny ones have to be ridiculed. Why can't people just accept that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes?

Oh geez, I'm sorry, Serious! I wasn't talking about you..... but I suppose I was over-exaggering. And I'm sorry if I offended you. It's just my bitterness about this topic coming out because I've always had issues with self-image. You're naturally petite, and that's great. But the thing that bothers me is when that is held to be THE standard for women's beauty. Not everybody can be a size 0-2. And yet society enforces this unattainable image for beauty. f you're naturally petite, then go with it and enjoy it. If you're not and you realize you can never be that small, embrace it as well. Self-improvement is one thing, social-conformation is another. I've seen some scary things in my life, girls who starve themselves to be that small they literally look like they've wasted away because that size IS NOT normal for them. And it hurts to see it. cry

I have sadly fallen victim to this. I was a child who began dieting when I was 10. sad Thankfully, now I'm at a maintainable, healthy wieght for my height and my perception of myself has improved and I'm comfortable. I still have issues with it now and then, but I've come a long way from where I used to be.

But yes, we should accept that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. Again, I'm sorry if I offended you or any other petite sized orgers. Please forgive me hug

As a fellow skinny person who has gotten lots of comments about "needing to eat more" I can relate to what you're saying.

I agree larger people probably overhear more negative comments about their body type, so I understand why it happens, but I guess my issue is that it is considered rude to tell someone to their face that they are overweight, but somehow acceptable to tell them they are too skinny. Because models/actors tend to be skinny, people think we have no feelings and that saying skinny people are gross somehow won't hurt our feelings.

That said I applaud SherryJackson for understanding this, when some people would just argue with you and tell you to relax.

I totally agree. And that it is okay to critisized for being skinny is the same as that it seems to be okay to be told that you are too pale. People just tell me in my face all the time that I should eat more or spend time outside when they know nothing about my eating or being outside habits at all neutral .

People just tell me in my face all the time that I should eat more or spend time outside when they know nothing about my eating or being outside habits at all neutral .

let me punch them for you

rolleyes people should just shut up!!

hug

it's simply unphotoshopped, badly lit and perhaps in motion, on the downstroke - even the fittest athletes can look awful in slow motion like that!
