Walter Becker, the co-founder of the legendary rock-jass fusion band Steely Dan, has died of an undisclosed illness. He was 67 years old.

Becker and other co-founder Donald Fagen formed the group Steely Dan after meeting together as students at New York's Bard College in 1967. After working initially as songwriters for other artists, they moved to California to form their own band in the early 1970's. Though their group had a rotating cast of members, they would remain the core of the group until the early 1980's, when they both went off to do their own solo projects. They would reunite in 2000 to record the album Two Against Nature, which won a Grammy for Album of the Year.

Very sad to see him go. What a cool musical legacy.
